Fossil Suggests Egyptian Pyramids And Sphinx Were Once Submerged Under Sea Water, Offers Evidence Of Biblical Flood
The entire landscape of the Giza Necropolis, including the pyramids and the Sphinx, shows erosion that some say suggests the area was once submerged by sea water. A unique fossil amplifies this theory. Archaeologist Sherif El Morsi has worked extensively on the Giza Plateau for over two decades, and in 2013 he partnered with Giza for Humanity founder and fellow researcher Antoine Gigal to publish his controversial discovery of this fossil. Dr. Robert M. Schloch was one of the first scientists to really tackle the subject of the plateau structures being older than previously thought. In the early 1990s, he suggested the Sphinx was thousands of years older than typically believed, going back to 5000–9000 B.C., based on water erosion patterns found…

This is a great documentary, narrated by Charlton Heston, about the Sphinx being 10,000 years old and showing the water erosion.

I've said this before but it bears repeating; there are many mineral deposits inside of this pyramid, mostly in the lower "queens chamber" half. Great evidence for standing water being inside for a long time. I'll speculate here that the entire structure was once covered with water temporarily and when the major portions of the waters receded the bottom half was still submerged (in a very salty and ancient Mediterranean sea) for a good long soak. Time enough to leach minerals out of the limestone and granite.
Whatever happened in ancient times left one heck of a nasty bathtub ring inside the pyramid. You can still see it.
I may be all wet, but I did say "speculation".
