Al-Masdar Al-‘Arabi, The Arab Source, claims a Chinese naval vessel passed through the Suez Canal on Tuesday and is headed to Syria to assist the Russians fight the Islamic State and US and Gulf Emirate proxies trying to overthrow the al-Assad government.
The website cites an senior officer in the Syrian Army stationed at Latakia who claims Chinese troops and military aircraft will arrive at the port city of Tartus within six weeks.
Russia’s only Mediterranean naval facility is located at Tartus, the second largest Syrian city.
According the US officials, Russia recently sent 28 fighter aircraft to an airbase outside of Latakia and is now conducting unmanned surveillance flights in Syria.
Additionally, news reports indicate Russian aircrafted is now targeting Islamic State positions in Deir Ezzor and Raqqa, said to be the de facto capital of ISIS in Syria.
The US officials added the Russians plan to send 2,000 troops to the airbase.
The Guardian reports satellite photos examined by IHS Janes Intelligence Review on Tuesday show a “rapid buildup of Russia’s expeditionary force in Syria” at two locations north of Latakia.
The claim by The Arab Source on the possible deployment of Chinese troops to assist the Russians has not been independently verified.
China and Russia have worked together to veto United Nations Security Council resolutions aimed at the al-Assad government.
“Solidarity on Syria is a continuation of the closeness that Russia and China have sought to exhibit this past year since the Xi administration has come to power,” notes the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank supported by a number of globalists, including Zbigniew Brzezinski and Henry Kissinger.
