According to http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/help/9-things-you-need-to-know-about-prepaid-cards-6000.php
"Thinking about picking up a reloadable prepaid card? Join the club. In 2015, more than half of all Americans purchased a prepaid card for personal use, compared to 19 percent in 2008, according to Synergistics Research Corp., which studies the prepaid market."

Without getting too boringly personal, as I was looking for a prepaid, loadable card (computer acct to acct no fee transfers) for my #1 child it occurred to me how cashless and hands off I've become.
I order my groceries online, household stuff, clothes, gifts, vitamins, phones, bills, etc. Pretty much everything. Even "pick up at store' items like Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Kohls, anything I want fast and/or haven't met free shipping minimum, I order and pay for first online thru various options. (the I get somebody to 'stop by' and pick it up for me. LOL)
I handle my Mother's affairs 98% online. Most I have set up for auto pay either through the bank or on a credit card and don't have to concern myself anymore; just monitor the transactions. Oh..and the credit card is a phone in authorized payment.
And often I get a discount for doing so, whether it's a credit card offer at point of purchase or a business happy to have quick payment.
Anybody here younger than me (most of you) no doubt knows besides paycheck direct deposit, you can have it loaded onto a card and don't even need a bank acct.
Then with an app you can swipe your phone at checkout. (any maybe more. I'm not in that loop.)
So, just fyi, Walmart leads the pack of prepaid cards and offers no fees with minimum monthly deposits, and various % cash back for all Walmart and affiliate purchases. Turns out AmEx in another good one. But don't take my memory over it~~~
Are we just "progressing" into cashless with hardly a second thought to it?
I want to know the thoughts of God. Everything else is just details.
