Comey 'Friend' Warns Trump "If I Were You, I'd Be Scared"

First it was anonymous colleagues, then his dad, and now it's a 'friend' of Jim Comey that CNN reports the fired FBI director has a story to tell, adding that he would be scared if he were President Trump.

As The Hill reports, Benjamin Wittes, who describes himself as a Comey confidant, said on CNN when asked how Comey was doing.
Quote :
"He's going to be fine. He's not somebody who spends time feeling sorry for himself,"

"I thought it was interesting and very telling that he declined an opportunity to tell his story in private. He clearly wants to do it in a public setting,"

"I think that's a reflection of the fact that this is a guy with a story to tell. I think if I were Donald Trump that would scare me a lot."
This comes days after a report said Comey is expected to testify that he believes Trump was deliberately trying to meddle in the FBI's investigation of Russian interference in the presidential election.
One wonders how long until Ray Dalio, Comey's former boss, and until recently a fan of Donald Trump, is also asked to comment (off the record) on the upcoming Pay Per View show  of the century, as Comey finally sits down to "clear the air."

First let me say that I am not a Trumpster nor a never-Trumpster, but I can't stand how the media is covering a sitting President. I find their use of "sources," "people familiar with the situation," and "friends of..." to be sad and shoddy journalism...at best.

That being said, seeing how Comey has operated in the past, I think the friend was right in this statement...

I am quite sure that Comey does want to tell his story in a public setting. He seems to never let a chance in front of the spotlight pass him by. That's one of the reasons it is good he is no longer Director of the FBI...we should rarely, if ever, see the FBI Director while they are active.

As far as Comey's testifying goes, he has already said, on the record, that he has never been pressured to stop an investigation for political purposes. So if he comes out and says that the POTUS did pressure himm to stop the Flynn investigaton he will be perjuring himself, either in this hearing or the previous one.

Let's say the POTUS did directly tell Comey that he needed to drop the investigation into Flynn. Is this coercion or interference with the investigation? While I think it would be unwise (especially politically) for the POTUS to do so, I don't think it would be, and I think any President would be within their Constitutional given powers to do so.

Why do I say that? It is all based on the three branches of our government. We all know that the President is the head of our Executive Branch. The Department of Justice falls under the Executive Branch's purview, and within the DoJ falls the FBI. Since the FBI is in the Executive Branch the President could have ordered his Attorney General Sessions (or in this case Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein) to cease the investigation into General Flynn. The POTUS could have even told the FBI Director himself to cease the investigation.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. I asked about this on another forum and nobody could come up with how it was wrong. So, if it is wrong I would love to hear how!
