THERE IS NO SHIPPING ON THE RED RIVER ANYWHERE ALONG THE TEXAS OKLAHOMA BORDER - PERIOD !!!

I know this for a fact. The Red River isn't deep enough for commercial shipping. How do I know this with so much certainty? In my younger days I and a bunch of friends canoed down the Red River from just above Dallas to New Boston on the Texas Arkansas border. That's about 300+ miles counting all the twisty bends in the river.  The Red isn't deep - in many places we dragged canoes across the bottom of the river. Besides that, there's a big lake with a big dam on the Red called Lake Texoma where we started out from the Denison bridge crossing to New Boston on our summer trip down the river. I assure you there are NO LOCKS at the lake for ships to get past. Thackerville is UPSTREAM from that lake.
