While the head of the FBI in New Jersey says he is confident in the two-plus years of preparation law enforcement agencies have put into securing this year’s super bowl, Homeland Security officials still worry most about a lone actor or "homegrown" extremist attempting a small scale attack.
"[We are] very interested in insuring that we have attention placed towards any homegrown violent extremists that are in the area or live in the area," said Aaron Ford, special agent in charge for the FBI's Newark office, in a statement with ABC news.

Police officials say security for the Super Bowl will include about 4,000 government and private officers on game day. But it's the events and days leading up to the super bowl that will also require a massive security effort.
While officials admit there is no credible threat at this time, experts say it is likely both the FBI and NYPD are keeping a close eye on a list of potential troublemakers.
