The science behind it is real but the gun has a long long way to go to be an effective weapon. The projectiles are #1, to light, and #2, to slow. Having said that, the gub'ment goons likely have many of these drawbacks worked out long ago. Also want y'all to notice that this device is not, I repeat, IS NOT an EMP generating device. It would have killed the recording camera on the first shot or two if it was. The storyline about EMP and killing a laptop computer draws you in but is revealed as 100% total bulls**t when you see the video. It was interesting to watch though I must admit. Whoever built this did a nice job and put a lot of effort into designing and building it. I give him really high marks for that. This gun works on much the same principles as the Superman ride at Magic Mountain and California Screamin, at Disneyland, only smaller.
California Screamin', a roller coaster in Disney's California Adventure amusement park in Anaheim, also uses a linear induction motor to avoid the conventional hill-and-chain start. The motor shoots passengers up and over the ride's first hump, accelerating the cars to 55 m.p.h. in four seconds. Think of a standard circular motor, peeled open and laid out flat, and you've got a linear version. In a linear induction motor, the stators, or stationary windings, are imbedded within the track. When an electrical current is applied, a moving magnetic field is generated, which induces secondary magnetic fields in aluminum or copper sheets attached to the sides of the cars. The reaction between the two magnetic fields is what propels the cars.
