Ominous Sign of Another Big Earthquake Coming, 150 Dead Dolphins In Japan

Only three of some 150 electra dolphins are believed to have been saved, after being washed ashore in the Ibaraki Prefecture. Scientists are trying to explain the incident, while some see it as an ominous sign to a similar case before the 2011 earthquake.


Videos from the scene showed rescuers trying to release the dolphins back into the ocean, but the tide washed the weak animals back onto the beach. Photos revealed that some were badly cut and had deep gashes. 


The reason for the mass beaching has not yet been established.

Mass beaching fuels ‘unscientific’ Japan earthquake fears

April 2015 – Tokyo, JAPAN – The mass beaching of more than 150 melon-headed whales on Japan’s shores has fuelled fears of a repeat of a seemingly unrelated event in the country — the devastating 2011 undersea earthquake that killed around 19,000 people. Despite a lack of scientific evidence linking the two events, a flurry of online commentators have pointed to the appearance of around 50 melon-headed whales — a species that is a member of the dolphin family — on Japan’s beaches six days prior to the monster quake, which unleashed a towering tsunami and triggered a nuclear disaster. Scientists were on Saturday dissecting the bodies of the whales, 156 of which were found on two beaches on Japan’s Pacific coast a day earlier, but could not say what caused the beachings. “We don’t see any immediate signs of diseases on their bodies, such as cancer. We want to figure out what killed these animals,” Tadasu Yamada, a senior researcher at National Museum of Nature and Science, told public broadcaster NHK.


Despite the lack of any clear link between the beachings and earthquakes — and comments from local officials downplaying such a connection — many took to social media to point to the link. Another Twitter user wrote simply: “We might have a big one on the 12th (of April).” The 2011 Japan earthquake is not the only instance of beached whales closely preceding a massive tremor. More than 100 pilot whales died in a mass stranding on a remote New Zealand beach on February 20, 2011, two days before a large quake struck the country’s second-largest city Christchurch. Japanese officials have nevertheless tried to calm fears, and have insisted there is no scientific data to prove the link.


Scientists are meanwhile unclear as to why the marine animals strand themselves in large groups, with some speculating healthy whales beach themselves while trying to help sick or disorientated family members that are stranded. Others believe the topography of certain places somehow scrambles the whales’ sonar navigation, causing them to beach. Once stranded, the whales are vulnerable to dehydration and sunburn until rescuers can use the high tide to move their massive weight back into deeper water. –Yahoo

‘Warm blob’ in Pacific Ocean linked to weird weather across the U.S.

April 2015 – CALIFORNIA – A mysterious “warm blob” in the Pacific Ocean could be the reason why US West coast states like California are experiencing their worst ever drought, a new study says. The blob in the ocean was discovered last year, with temperatures one to four degrees Celsius (two to seven degrees Fahrenheit) above surrounding ‘normal’ water, causing havoc to West Coast marine ecosystem and led species to seek refuge elsewhere. The blob extends about 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) offshore, from Mexico up to Alaska, and was 300 feet (90 meters) deep.


A study by the University of Washington found that a high-pressure ridge could be causing the blob, by trapping heat in the water. Dr. Nick Bond, a climate scientist at the University of Washington, coined the term ‘the blob’ in June. Researchers said it may have contributed to the state of Washington’s mild 2014 winter and might signal a warmer summer. It is still unclear how this area of warmer water has formed, or how long it will stay. One thing scientists can be studied is its effects. As air passes over warmer water and reaches the coast it brings more heat and less snow, which the scientists say helped cause current drought conditions in California, Oregon and Washington. Bond says all the models point to it continuing through the end of this year.




The new study explores the blob’s origins. It finds that it relates to a persistent high-pressure ridge that caused a calmer ocean during the past two winters, so less heat was lost to cold air above. The warmer temperatures we see now aren’t due to more heating, but less winter cooling. The researchers said that it might not only be causing warmer temperatures on the West coast, but also cooler temperatures on the East coast. It could also be playing a part in circulating cold and wet air to the central and eastern states of the US. The study also found the blob has an effect on marine life. Fish have been spotted in places where they normally belong and the warmer, less nutrient-rich water is disrupting the food web.


These findings coincide with a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released last month, which said that West Coast waters are becoming less biologically productive as they become warmer. The report attributed the stranded 1,500 starving sea lion pups, the decline in tiny crustaceans, and other environmental shifts to the expanding “blob.” Bond noted that, while this phenomenon likely wasn’t caused by global warming, it could be a sign of similar weather to come.  –American Register

SPECULATION ZONE AHEAD <><><><>

The Japanese eat a lot, and I do mean A LOT of fish. That's a fact, Jack. Dolphins dine on the same fish as the Japanese and are in direct competition with the Japanese fishing boats. The fishermen HATE the dolphins!!! I would be more inclined to believe that the cut up and gashed dolphins were feeding and were most likely brought up in the nets with the fish.  A 150+ dolphins can eat a lot of fish in a very short amount of time and can do a lot of damage.

Cue up one very pissed-off fishing crew.
Cue up said fishing crew seething red with rage and bent on revenge against said dolphins for ruining their catch.
Cue knives and cleavers in crews hands. Let the slicing and dicing begin.
