7.8 QUAKE hits Iran - 188 Day Cycle- UPDATE 4-19 6:35 PM

Iran has been struck with a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which sent
tremors throughout the Persian Gulf states and India. At least 34
people have been killed in neighboring Pakistan, officials told AFP.
Fifty others have been injured.

Three women and two children were killed when their mud house
collapsed in the Baluchistan district of Panjgur, Pakistan,
Reuters reported.

At least eight people were killed and 20 wounded in the town of
Mashkeel. Several hundred homes throughout the area collapsed,
according to local health center official Mohammed Ashraf.

Initial reports stated that 40 people were killed in Iran,
although a local governor says there have been no
deaths.
"Fortunately, the earthquake resulted in no fatalities,"
Hatam Narouyi, the governor of Sistan and Baluchistan, told ISNA
news agency.

The statement was echoed by Iranian lawmaker Hamid Reza Pashang:
"I have talked to the people of Zabul, Saravan, Khash and other
areas hit by the earthquake and they have said the earthquake was
not of a kind to cause many deaths," he told Mehr news
agency.
State agencies are now denying initial reports, claiming only
that five people have been injured in Iran, the general director of
Fars news agency said in a tweet.
News of the earthquake initially prompted an Iranian official to
express fears of large death tolls.

"It was the biggest earthquake in Iran in 40 years and we are
expecting hundreds of dead," the official, who spoke on
condition of anonymity, told Reuters.

earthquake caused a roof to collapse in Karachi.

The epicenter is located some 90km southeast of the city of
Khash, according to the US Geological survey. The quake struck deep
underground, more than 15km from the surface.
The Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC) gives the magnitude of
the quake at 7.5 on the Richter scale.
Iranian emergency services have deployed rescue helicopters and
ground teams to the affected area. Communications there have been
lost, as state TV channel reports.

QUETTA, Pakistan - Powerful aftershocks rocked the border between Iran and Pakistan Wednesday, a day after a major earthquake tore through the region, collapsing buildings and killing at least 39 people and injuring more than 170.

The Pakistani town of Mashkel was “totally destroyed,” according to a local journalist at the scene. Reporter Farooq Kabdani said almost all of the town's mud houses and shops had collapsed. He suggested the death toll could climb as about 25 people remained missing.

Tuesday’s major quake, rated at magnitude 7.8 by the U.S. Geological Survey and 7.5 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Agency, was centered about 50 miles east of the city of Khash, Iran, but shook tall buildings as far away as New Delhi, nearly 1,500 miles away.

Fifteen seriously injured victims have evacuated to the Central Military hospital Quetta by the Pakistan Army.The victims range in age from 3 to 50 years old.

It was described by Iranian media as the worst in 50 years, but the majority of confirmed casualties appeared to be on the Pakistan side of the border.

Officials in Mashkel District in Pakistan's Balochistan province said 38 people were killed there, while 170 were injured, including 30 in critical condition.

Iran’s state-run Press TV reported one confirmed Iranian death, noting that initial reports had suggested a much higher death toll. A hospital in the Iranian city of Saravan, which is close to the epicenter, reported 10 fatalities on Tuesday.

Washuk Khan Mohammad, the local deputy commissioner, said the Mashkel area was hit by two more aftershocks on Wednesday, which he said measured 6.5 and 4.4 on the richter scale, causing more damage.

Conditions in Mashkel, which lies south-west of Quetta, were described as “miserable” by Kabdani. The area is “totally destroyed,” he added.

While the earthquake's epicenter was in a thinly populated area, the USGS estimated that about 400,000 people live in areas where the shaking was very strong to severe; 1.7 million live in areas where it was considered strong; and another 2.6 million are in territories where it was classified as moderate.

The number of casualties is still unknown after a massive earthquake hit southeast Iran. The tremors were felt as far east as New Delhi and in Dubai, to the west. NBC's Ali Arouzi reports.

The State Department expressed its condolences for the lives lost in the earthquake.

"The United States sends our deepest condolences for those lost in the earthquake in southeastern Iran and western Pakistan today," a statement released Tuesday read. "Our thoughts are with the families of those who were killed, those who were injured, and with those communities that have suffered damage to homes and property. We stand ready to offer assistance in this difficult time."

At least nine earthquakes were reported Tuesday in central Oklahoma, some large enough to jolt people in the area, but no damage was reported.

The largest of the quakes was reported at 1:56 a.m. near Luther and woke people in the region. The 4.3 magnitude quake was followed by a 4.2 temblor at 5:16 a.m. in the same area. Other smaller earthquakes occurred throughout the day.

Quakes with a magnitude of 3 are among the smallest that are generally felt, while a magnitude 4 quake can do some damage.

Austin Holland, a seismologist with the Oklahoma Geological Survey, said Tuesday's string of quakes was different from other earthquakes that have struck the area in recent years. The largest earthquake in state history was a 5.7 magnitude quake in November 2011 near Prague.

“These certainly are very different earthquakes than what we've seen in the past,” Holland said. “These were very shallow. They are fairly rare. We haven't seen a series like this that has been so shallow with these size earthquakes.”

The quakes that hit the state Tuesday were centered four to five kilometers below ground. Most quakes are dozens of kilometers or more below ground.

Magnitude 7.0 earthquake off Japan in Kuril Islands

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake has struck in seas off far northern Japan and far eastern Russiabut but no damage was expected.

The Japan Meteorological Agency said sea changes were possible. No tsunami warnings have been issued.

The tremor struck around midday in the Pacific Ocean at a relatively shallow depth of 10 kilometres. The US Geological Survey measured a stronger 7.2 magnitude.

Japan and Russia both claim some of the sparsely populated islands in the remote region.

The epicentre was 58 kilometres east-northeast of Kuril'sk, Russia, and 528 kilometres northeast of Nemuro, Japan.

crap, tried full source code and did't work! It's all in a table and even with as I said the source html code will not position the Mag and Depth etc over the appropriate column. Any ideas how too.

It seems that there may be more than one interpretation of the 188 cycle? According to Pastor Paul the 188 cycle was around April 2nd or April 4th...can't remember which, but was definitely at the beginning of the month...not the end.
