The phrase ‘mark of the beast’ appears five times in the Book of Revelation (of Jesus Christ) the first one being: Rev 13:16-17: ‘He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.’ So the relevant body parts are ‘their right hand or on their foreheads.’ ... some form of technology will be implanted into the hands or foreheads. In an age where technological capabilities are leaping forward on a year to year basis, this argument does not sound unreasonable. Also, we have also reached a stage where trans-humanism is gaining considerable momentum ... There seems to be general consensus among most Bible scholars that the ‘beast’ referred to is a kingdom (Dan 7:23) or empire and that it is the Roman Empire. Now the ancient Roman Empire fell at around 476 AD, but in the European Union we have a revived Roman Empire.
