What if there was an Olympics and nobody came? What a total waste of money spent on the Olympic village that could have been put to better use helping the poverty stricken people of Brazil. The athletes should just say no to going there period and that is that! Most of Rio is a cesspool - literally! Uber-rich on the beaches, uber-poor in the favelas.
In 2014 BBC2 the program "This World" did a one hour documentary on the Copacabana Palace hotel in Rio. It showed the disparity between the haves and the have-nots following hotel workers from work to the favelas very visually and dramatically. I was going to post the video here, BUT . . . !!! Luckily I saved a copy on my hard drive and good thing that because the full episode has been COMPLETELY excised from the Internet. Just brief clips remain.
