| I'm definitely not liking hurricane season this year. My brother lives north of Houston, and my sister lives just outside of Jacksonville, FL. My brother made it through Harvey just fine. Hoping my sister can dodge the bullet too! | |

| I think your sister should consider leaving area for a few days and ahead of the rush to evacuate.
Encourage to buy a few Life Straws for individual use and a larger family size, will not keep paying for bottled water nor waiting! Maybe even a backpack with water bladder.
I am an outdoors brush thrasher and I always have one of my two hunting back packs with everything you would need for 5+ days, each has food, solo stove, Life Straw and one type with small picture to fill the bladders, hatchet, knife, saw, compact fishing pole, extra socks, under garments, shirts and rain gear.. etc etc. If hunting, one rifle, one hand gun... bears, mountain lion and rattle snake country.. snake shot etc. etc. I can say this.. if you go unprepared your trip could become scary, average 2 mountain lion sightings a year withing 100yds, maybe 1 large bear and the largest rattler was 10ft timber.
1 deer cart can carry two outfitter boxes (food/clothing), two rifles couple boxes of ammo. They have large hard tires and fold up to fit in trunk or on atv. Good to have, use around house too!

Hurricane Irma now poses a 'serious threat' to the U.S., meteorologists say. Above, the possible tracks the storm could take
'Today, given these forecasts and the intensity of this storm, I have declared a state of emergency for every county in Florida to make certain that state, federal and local governments are able to work together and make sure resources are dispersed to local communities as we get prepared for this storm.' WHEN WILL IRMA HIT? Leeward Islands: Late Tuesday to Wednesday. Tropical storm-force winds start later Tuesday Puerto Rico/Virgin Islands: Wednesday to early Thursday Dominican Republic/Haiti: Thursday to early Friday Turks and Caicos: Late Thursday to Friday Bahamas: Friday to this weekend Cuba: Friday to this weekend Southeast United States: This weekend into early next week, beginning in south Florida on Saturday - Weather.com Floridians took advantage of the Labor Day holiday to empty many store shelves of drinking water and other supplies in advance of IrmaBy mid-day Monday, many grocery stores across South Florida had been emptied of bottled water and stores were hoping to restock beginning Tuesday morning.States of emergency were also declared in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands where residents rushed to find last-minute supplies, forming long lines outside supermarkets and gas stations. People in Puerto Rico braced for electricity outages after the director of the island's power company predicted that storm damage could leave some areas without electricity for four to six months. But 'some areas will have power (back) in less than a week,' Ricardo Ramos told radio station Notiuno 630 AM. The utility's infrastructure has deteriorated greatly during a decade-long recession, and Puerto Ricans experienced an island wide outage last year. |

| zerohedge.com As Irma inches closer to Florida, “prepping fever” has hit the public. Grocery stores and home improvement chains are already being flooded with traffic, and this is only going to get worse the closer that Irma gets.[ltr] View image on Twitter

As Hurricane Irma continues to make its way towards a possible strike on the Southeastern U.S., stores in South Florida are beginning to see a rush for supplies. Several Publix supermarkets were full before noon Monday as residents grabbed water, non-perishable food and other items. Another local news report noted that essential supplies were already running low at a Home Depot in south Florida… |

| We here in Fl have been blessed by not having a major hurricane since Frances in '04. We all knew it was just a matter of time, but it was nice while it lasted. If Irma maintains it's current strength I fear it's going to be catastrophic to millions. I spent the better part of the day putting my shutters up, and since I'm well prepped have no food or water issues to worry about. I'm afraid that most have become complacent and everyone and their brother is out scrambling around for gas food and water. Please keep us and whoever is in it's path in your thoughts and prayers. | |
