i got an email from judy with the header showing not to open anything from her because her email had been hacked....i ran a scan on my machine, just to be safe and it turned up a malicious program that it didn't turn up this morning, so i think it may have come with her email....idk....

I don't get mail directly so I only use virus software
Not for Windows but something similar may be found... some of these tools are not easy to set up but once they are one can keep out many or all attacks.
I have learned a lot in my switch, found the best system layout and documented changes I made in the firewall and others. Saved that info for if I do have to reinstall. Very easy then!

Here I am. My email had been hacked so I changed all my  email passwords. All should be ok now. I scanned everything and put my extra security antivirus on my phone. It took me a while to do all this - not much computer sense here... but believe all is good now regarding my computer.. but they got into my contacts the first time around.. So don't open any strange links that appear to be from me.  Put your mouse cursor on the "mail without clicking "and  see if it  has a weird sender address. My bil got one and warned me about it . His  header said  this :   " Judy M... @ my email address .. "You might be interested in this" and then the spam link.  With the cursor run over it, it gives some strange address and nothing like mine at aol or gmail. Thank ya'll  so much for caring should be safe to open from the real judy now .     judy

Most Linux systems have left the 32 bit machines behind. I was fortunate to find a brand new desk tower with 64 bit , 5g memory and 4 processors on ebay for $212.00.
Windows 7 even being careful only lasted a week. 

Folks you can download a live version of the same system that I run and try it.
Right off the bat it will be more secure in that it is on a cd or dvd.
