The anons over at 8chan are pretty awesome for finding this. I found out about it just now over at Tiger Droppings (linked) Some comments from TD below bit see the link for everything else.

If the font color and the font background color are black, the text is still there and was never redacted.
It should have been replaced with block character.

LOL, just by highlighting the redaction, then clicking on my "Snipping Tool," I'm able to read it as is.
It also works when I copy and paste to Microsoft Word! Pics are the examples!

i read that a while ago.....if this can be done on all of the docs,which i doubt, all hell finna' break loose

Says it works on electronically generated black block redactions. Won't work on marks-a-lot then copied pin redactions. Still, that's pretty huge.

I would only expect digital docs to work.. if they are redacted with black before scanning you probably not be able to.

Yesssss the first Manaford one does work -- screen shot of two programs for me.. One is Kile and the other Libre Office Writer.

NEED JUICY STUFF ON 0, PELOSI, FEINSTIEN ETC ETC... GET IT ROLLING!!!! GO GO GO!

any redacting done in layers can be looked at in Photoshop or Gimp and other if the layer is not locked.. should test before tossing the doc!

Good idea. I don't have either of those programs, should be something open source for windoze machines. Thoughts - ideas?
