We are now in our third day of complete shutdown throughout the whole of Zimbabwe. Banks are closed, schools are closed, roads are closed in and out of the main towns and transport systems have shut down.
There are no newspapers to be bought, the Internet has been shut down by the government and everything is at a complete standstill.
People are too afraid to move around as a result of the burning of vehicles by vigilante groups and the complete dearth of any updated information or warnings due to the total social media blackout. This means that no WhatsApp messages or photos can be sent, no one can access Facebook or Messenger, and the situation is very tense.
In some centres it almost feels apocalyptic. We have heard gunfire, and before the Internet was closed down, saw pictures of dead and wounded people. It is unclear how many people have died but before the media blackout, it was reported that there had been five deaths and more than 200 people had been arbitrarily arrested.
Elements of the police and military are also involved in ensuring that there is a complete shutdown. People in civilian dress armed with AK-47 rifles have been seen in some areas. It is clear that these are military personnel.
Amnesty International has condemned the military crackdown and has called on the Zimbabwean authorities to ensure restraint by security forces and respect the public’s right to protest.
Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights reported prior to the blackout that they had received reports of soldiers and police breaking into homes in townships overnight and assaulting suspected demonstrators.
Contacts in the diplomatic corps and the political opposition are also completely in the dark, along with the rest of us.
This morning I spoke to Nelson Chamisa, leader of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Alliance, and it is clear that no one knows what is going on because the entire country has been effectively silenced.
I have also spoken to lawyers regarding the arrest once again of Pastor Evan Mawarire who inadvertently triggered the highly successful #ThisFlag social media protest action in April 2016 because he could no longer afford to pay school fees. This led to his arrest on trumped up charges and his high profile court case. Since then, his activities have been under constant surveillance.
Police officers arrive at his flat this morning in central Harare and took him to the Law and Order section, charging him under a false charge of incitement to commit public violence.
The crisis was precipitated on Sunday (January 13) by President Emmerson Mnangagwa when he announced a shock increase of 200 percent in the fuel price – this in a country with more than 90 percent unemployment and where the struggle to survive escalates daily. Mr Mnangagwa promptly left the country for Russia and has not returned. Reports say that he has gone there to “discuss Russian assistance to modernise the military”.
Right now the situation remains eerie and uncertain. If this goes on for much longer, the humanitarian crisis will escalate. We cannot buy food because the shops are all closed and transport systems have closed down. Most of the hospitals are without essential medicines and also staff because doctors and nurses can’t even get to work.
This is an unprecedented situation in Zimbabwe and internationally. Even in wartime Europe, the people could get newspapers, transport systems operated, retail outlets were still open and people could communicate.
I cannot send you an e-mail or a photograph – it is a very weird situation.
The only thing we can do at this point is to ask for your prayers as we face this time of escalating fear and uncertainty.

Israel has a new IDF Commander “Aviv Kochavi”. Few, if any before him, have taken over the Leadership of the IDF under such stressful and dangerous circumstances.  Over the past year the Israeli air force has bombed over 1,000 Iranian targets in Syria, but that hasn’t deterred Iran from building a military presence in Syria.  Today there are over 10,000 Iranian troops poised on the Iraqi and Syrian border ready to move into Syria.  That’s very bad news for Israel. Up until this time most of the bombing targets have been Iranian missile sites and other military installations being built in Syria in preparation for an all out attack on Israel from the north.  But the movement of 10,000 Iranian troops will be a game changer.
So our new top IDF General really has a lot on his plate to deal with. May God be with him in his decisions to protect Israel.  As if it wasn’t enough for Iran to have taken over Lebanon with Hezbollah, arming them with a reported 200,000 rockets and missiles all aimed at our cities here in Israel, now they are moving large numbers of their troops into Syria.  In previous wars that involved Hezbollah and Hamas, both supported and supplied by Iran, their missiles and rockets had a shorter range.  But this time they have been supplied with many long range missiles capable of hitting every inch of Israel. Coupled with that Hamas proved in the “Defensive Shield” war that they could hit Jerusalem, and even Tel-Aviv.
 
Our new IDF Chief Aviv Kochavi has taken over the command at a time in Israel’s history when by Islamic assessment this time Israel will be destroyed.  These Muslims number in the hundreds of millions and have been fed a daily diet of hate for the Jews and Israel since birth.  In kindergartens they’re taught the greatest thing they could ever do for Allah is to kill a Jew or be a suicide bomber or terrorist.
 
The world at large only hears what the controlled News Media (New World Order) wants you to hear or read. And I can tell you from Israel’s position militarily it has never looked so bad.  That is until you read what God has to say about it.
 
The general consensus I hear from several older IDF Officers [and some present ones] is that Israel nor her enemies want a war in the north in winter. Tanks get bogged down and the soldiers are not equipped for a winter war.  So it seems that most of our wars are in June, early enough in the summer to allow for some time to fight that war without having to fight the weather as well.
 
It is my belief that when this war begins it will not last long. Israel simply cannot fight a long back and forth war. So Israel will make sure it is a quick war.  This war will also kick off the Islamic Nazi final solution of the Jews in Europe.  Once again European Jews are trying to hold on to their possessions, placing them above the lives of their loved ones.  I pray daily they will leave and soon. There is still freedom to leave and come home to Israel,  yet that freedom is about to close for good.
 
Israel wins this war but pays a very heavy price. The Jews who are hiding and praying for a safe way to Israel will not present a pretty picture, and unless we, and others like us, make plans and preparations to save them they will perish.
 
There is no doubt that the above is on the near horizon and we are not the only ones who know it. So does the Devil and he is doing everything he can to destroy ministries like this one.  The things needed to be done at this time to prepare for rescue simply takes finances – lots of finances.  I am being criticized from other believers for asking for support.  All I can do is pray for them for they have no idea what they are doing.
 
Things are set to happen very quickly. When it happens this and many other ways of communication will most likely be lost.  If those God has called, and is calling, to bless Israel fail in their obedience His Will still will be done.  Eternity is a very long time.  With decades of walking with God, serving Him, praising Him, and loving Him, there is one thing I am certain of. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and He cannot lie. That He has chosen this messenger and those He gathered to this ministry to bless Israel and the Jewish people.  May God give us the strength and courage to move forward unhindered, may He increase our faith in Him.
