The definitions that apply to a developer and an environmentalist long have been known in America’s West, where there are millions of acres of protected land.
A developer is the one who wants to build his house in the wilderness; the environmentalist is one who already has his house in the wilderness.
Perhaps now there’s are new definitions for socialist and Washington insider too.
After all, congressional newcomer Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fretted when she was elected about how she would afford to live in Washington. She’s long lobbied for affordable housing and the self-described socialist, in fact, in her “Green New Deal,” calls for “Safe, affordable, adequate housing” for all.
So her new address in Washington?

The Washington Examiner isn’t revealing the name of the building or the street address.
But it is confirming that it is a “luxury apartment complex … that does not offer the affordable housing units that were a key plank in the New York congresswoman’s campaign platform.”
The 29-year-old now is getting $174,000 a year from taxpayers and has moved into “A newly built high-rise in the city’s Navy Yard area.”
While she campaigned for less-costly housing, her new building, developed by WC Smith, “is part of a luxury complex whose owners specifically do not offer affordable units under Washington, D.C.’s Affordable Dwelling Units program,” the report said.
The district already has been sued for allegedly encouraging an influx of affluent “millennial creatives” who shove minority residents out.
Ocasio-Cortez often blasted luxury real estate developers during her campaign.

During her campaigning last year she ranted, “We need to kick luxury real estate lobbyists to the curb and defend working people’s way of life. Skyrocketing cost of living is a national crisis that CAN be addressed. It’s not just an NYC issue – it’s happening in every U.S. metro area.”
She boasted that she was the only one brave enough to refuse to take campaign contributions from luxury property developers, the report said.
Her own new residence, online, “promises to take luxury apartment living to a new level” with more than 100,000 square feet of amenities: state-of-the-art hydrotherapy beds, saunas, indoor lap pool, rooftop infinity pool, cycling studio, fireside lounge and more.
Oh, and a Steinway player piano.
Prices range up to $5,200 a month.

The Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was crafted by three far-left organizations and is being pushed by a coalition of well-funded professional progressive groups and known leftist agitators.
Some of the organizations helping to promote the Green New Deal have ties to financing from billionaire George Soros and trace their roots to such radical groups as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter.
Earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez posted an 11-page Google document in the form of a nonbinding legislative resolution that has become the most authoritative [url=https://ocasio-cortez.house.gov/sites/ocasio-cortez.house.gov/files/Resolution on a Green New Deal.pdf]version[/url] of the Green New Deal, a broad outline for the current conception of the socialist-style plan.

Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal resolution, introduced along with Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), has already been endorsed by more than 45 Democratic representatives. The deal received high-profile endorsements from Senators Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders.
The Green New Deal seeks, as the New Yorker recently put it, “nothing less than a total overhaul of our national infrastructure.”

The utopian deal demands 100 percent of all buildings in the U.S. convert to clean energy, calls for the removal of all greenhouse gases from the entire atmosphere, and includes such non-“green” clauses as a federal jobs guarantee while protecting the right of all workers to organize and unionize.
It also pledges “affordable, safe and adequate housing” for “all people of the United States.”
The wealth-spreading deal aims to “virtually eliminate poverty in the United States and to make prosperity, wealth and economic security available to everyone participating in the transformation.”
Radical groups, Soros ties
The Green New Deal was crafted by Ocasio-Cortez along with three groups — the Sunrise Movement, Justice Democrats and a group calling itself New Consensus.
