While we at ANP were happy to see President Trump's Executive Order regarding Electromagnetic pulse attacks, and addressing America's infrastructure vulnerabilities, we look to what is happening in Venezuela right now to note that it doesn't have to be an "attack," cyber or physical, nor a solar event, but simply aging equipment, and the location of the most vulnerable portions of the grid that would cause a "cascading failure" which would leave tens of millions in the dark for an unspecified amount of time.
In one of the largest studies conducted, considering almost 100,000 lines in the U.S. and southern Canada, researchers found that a surprisingly low percentage, 10.8% were at risk for what they term a "cascading failure," which knocks out not just the line, but the built in redundancies, causing a domino effect of power failures.
That is the good news......the bad news is the data is older and the vulnerabilities, aside from cyber attacks and such, also stem from aging equipment and out of date infrastructure, and worse yet the "more vulnerable links are located near densely populated cities, where there are a greater number of power lines that are connected to each other."
Also note that study focused on "cascading failures," and not the general vulnerabilities to the power grid, nor individual sources of power throughout the nation.

GRID FAILURE LEADS TO MADNESS IN VENEZUELA
In socialist Venezuela's second largest city of Maracaibo, populated by approximately 1.653 million people, is in the dark, where "water lines, the Internet, wireless service, and telephone service no longer work."
According to this Off The Grid report, businesses owners and security guards are kept busy fighting off looters and street thug gang members, as their hospital only has lights via their generators, in the emergency room, while the rest of the hospital is left in the dark, where business association president Ricardo Acosta, describes the scene at the hospital as "like something from a war film. Dozens of patients and their families were crowded into the sweltering ward, a few lying on beds, others slumped on the bloodstained floor.”
His description of the city as a whole that has been sent back to the dark ages, is "It was total madness."
IMAGINE AMERICA'S LARGEST CITIES IN THE DARK
Starvation, lack of water, looters, gangs, where the "gun rules," as Stefan Stanford reported recently, empty grocery stores, in a city of over 1.6 million people, is described as "madness," but consider the most densely populated cities in America, New York City, has more than 8.5 million people, with Los Angeles coming in second with approximately 4 million people, and "madness" would not begin to describe what would happen in the event of a cascading grid failure.
Make no mistake, preppers and survivalists would undoubtedly last longer than those that panic shop every time a snow storm hits, emptying shelves within hours, which generally are shown to be city-dwellers, convinced it could never happen to them, so they are woefully unprepared for any type of power outage that last more than a couple hours, and even then they act like they had to rough it for weeks.
While we are focusing on the natural breakdown of the grid, there is the possibility, which some experts believe is a probability, of an attack or an event that will wipe out the whole nation's power, but whether it is individual cities, states, or the country, there are some basic preparations that everyone should be making, not just "preppers," but every home in America, which will not only prepare them survive the worst, but will also help them survive even lesser events that take away their electricity.
BASIC PREPARATIONS IN THE EVENT OF A LIGHTS OUT SCENARIO
First, lighting. Many recommend flashlights, for your vehicle, for every room in the house, and there is nothing wrong with having a bunch of flashlights, but there are other options, such as emergency lanterns, just lift the top up, and boom, bright lighting that covers a wider area than a flashlight because the light spreads in every direction and can light up a small room almost entirely, at least enough not to trip over everything. Plus they are easy to carry.
Those worried about long term and running out of batteries, there are solar, rechargable emergency lanterns out there as well.
Candles and hurricane lamps are a last resort, but in a closed up area they create different set of risks, such as a lack of fresh air and the possibility of fires.
WATER & FOOD
Without water, people die, it is that simple. So a portable water storage and filtration system is inexpensive, allows for mobility, and offers filtered and purified drinking water within minutes. There are plenty of options available.

ANP regular readers have discussed at length the food storage options, whether it is canned goods and basics, or emergency survival foods, whole meals or individual products of freeze dried meats, vegetables, fruits, eggs, etc.....so we will not detail too much on that since it has been covered at length.

BACKUP POWER SOURCE
Generators are the best source of backup power, but in a long term scenario without electricity, there is the possibility one cannot get a refill of gas, which is why solar is a very good alternative, but in researching, the prices of some are more than most of us can afford, but I have found that there are also some very reasonably priced products, anywhere from under $100 to under $300.
Granted one might not be able to power up the entire household, but in an emergency, one can survive with just the basics, maybe a stove, or fridge and freezer, so remember to get extra extension cords, as well as one or two with multiple outlets.
KEEPING WARM
Last but not least for this piece, keeping warm in cooler temperatures when the electricity goes off. Building fires is great for those with a fireplace, but not everyone has a fireplace, so sometimes the simplest solution can work short term, like mylar blankets to keep body heat in.
Also short term, propane or kerosene heaters work wonders to keep one from freezing during a power outage.

BOTTOM LINE Prepare acoordingly. Look to Venezuela, read everything you can find about the issues they are having and address the areas they are having difficulty with, such as food, water, even toilet paper, and use the example that is being provided right now there, to adjust your own preparations in the event that our own vulnerable grid goes down.
It doesn't have to be an attack, a cyber event, a solar event...... our grid is vulnerable not only to attack, but to a cascading failure which would leave us in the dark, as many in Venezuela are now.

At 5:35 PM eastern US time, a Magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck off the Aleutian Islands in Alaska; at a depth of 19km. Three Tsunami Warning Buoys in that area are OUT OF SERVICE and so there's no telling if a major Tsunami is already making it's way to the US/CANADA west coast! The quake is shown on the image below: The initial report from the US Geological Survey reported TWO such 6.5 quakes, one at 19km, the other at 31km, but within minutes, all record of the SECOND quake, "disappeared" from the USGS site! While 5G is now being rolled out across parts of America as Digital Trends reported in this March 14th story, Alex Pietrowski over at Waking Times reported on March 12th that a group of 250 doctors and scientists from more than 40 different countries have recently signed a petition to the World Health Organization and the United Nations warning them of the well-documented dangers of radiation from WiFi, cell phones and bluetooth, urging the rollout be more carefully studied.
As the Waking Times story points out in their first paragraph, "in recent years we’ve seen a number of credible scientific reports indicating that electromagnetic radiation from cell phones and other wireless devices is linked to the development of cancers, including brain and heart cancer".
With Wifi now practically everywhere in America, from people's homes to their offices to shopping malls, doctors offices and even being beamed into people's cars through public wifi, the Waking Times story warns we're probably only seeing the tip of the iceberg in negative health effects from Wifi, and "as the world’s wireless network is upgraded to 5G, we may soon see a dramatic spike in cases of cancer, and people in high places are speaking out to warn the public". Additionally, warnings about the safety of emerging 5G technology are everywhere, and even the California Brain Tumor Association issued a public warning. But, we’re already living in a world that has grown dependent on wireless and bluetooth technology, with an array of consumer products like Apple’s AirPods which act as wireless transmitters/receivers sitting right next to the brain, nestled among the most sensitive parts of the ear.
This is a recipe for a public health disaster, and to emphasize this, a group of 250 scientists from over 40 countries have signed a petition to the WHO and the UN to warn them about the documented dangers of radio wave radiation from WiFi, cell phones and bluetooth.
“Apple’s wireless AirPods, for example, ‘communicate with one another using a magnetic induction field, a variable magnetic field [one] sends through your brain to communicate with the other,’ explains Dr Joel Moskowitz.

The opening statement of the petition lists a litany of current technological products that are all linked to physiological disorders, disease and even cancer.
“We are scientists engaged in the study of biological and health effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields (EMF). Based upon peer-reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices. These include–but are not limited to–radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitting devices, such as cellular and cordless phones and their base stations, Wi-Fi, broadcast antennas, smart meters, and baby monitors as well as electric devices and infra-structures used in the delivery of electricity that generate extremely-low frequency electromagnetic field (ELF EMF).” (Source)

The fight over 5G is heating up at the community level, and awareness of this important issue is spreading fast. With proof of 5G damaging the skin, let's take a look at this August of 2016 story over at The Truth About Cancer website and their warnings about the kind of damage that regular wi-fi, not even to mention 5G, can do to our bodies. As we see, regular wifi radiation has been linked to many different diseases and can cause outright havoc upon our bodies.:

Independent research dating back some 80 years links WiFi radiation to a long list of adverse biological effects, including:
DNA chain breaks
Increased blood-brain-barrier permeability
Disruption to brain glucose metabolism

Studies also associate WiFi radiation exposure with such symptoms as fatigue, irritability, headaches, and digestive disorders. Long-term exposure to WiFi radiation has been linked with many serious diseases − including cancer.
WiFi Radiation And Cancer
Numerous studies link WiFi radiation exposure with cancer. Notably, the German telecommunications company T-Mobile carried out a major independent study. It found that “on the cellular level, a multitude of studies found the type of damage from high frequency electromagnetic fields which is important for cancer initiation and cancer promotion.”
In 2011, the World Health Organization classified radio frequency radiation of the type used by WiFi devices as a Group 2B possible carcinogen. A study conducted by the University of Vienna have found WiFi exposures to cause genotoxicity as they break single and double strand DNAs in our body. This indicates that there are effects that may potentially surface with our future generations.
Besides cancer and genotoxicity, exposure to WiFi type radiation induces memory loss, diabetes, depression, insomnia, fatigue and so on.
With 5G set to blanket the Earth whether we like it or not with 20,000 satellites beaming death rays down from above, how can we protect ourselves from the negative health effects that doctors and scientists are now warning will come along with it? While there’s no way to truly and completely shield yourself, I have listed a few tips that can certainly protect you, in the best possible way, from the dangers of 5G radiation:
Keep your distance as much as possible.
Measure levels whenever possible.
Buy an EMF shield.
Protect your home as much as possible.
Eat a healthy diet.

So despite the fact that doctors and scientists across the planet have warned of the dangers and potentially carcinogenic effects of 5G, cities such as Providence Rhode Island, 'big tech' and the communications companies are doing nothing to slow down it's rollout across the country and like always, once again, we'll be the guinea pigs in the globalists grotesque experiments.
As Michael Snyder had reported back on March 3rd, 5G cell phone technology may also very well lead to dramatic population reduction as large numbers of men who carry their cell phones near their abdomen's become sterile, another 'plank' of the globalists agenda coming true as they've long sought to depopulate the planet.
And while even Wired recently waded into the 5G muck as reported in this April 1st story, one might think a website that specializes in 'tech reviews' might be gung ho for 5G but even they apparently have 'awoken' as reported within this story.
I see a parallel in another big news story: the hype and enthusiasm about 5G wireless as the “thing that will make the existing [communications] model obsolete.” 5G is touted as the solution to all our problems—which sounds pretty unrealistic, as I’ve written in the past. (We’ll still need fiber wires everywhere, including deep in rural areas, to make 5G serve everyone, and there’s a real risk that we’ll end up with local 5G monopolies absent wise government intervention.) And there’s a new (to me) angle to 5G that I’ve resisted in the past: What if transmissions to and from 5G cells, which will need to be everywhere, and much closer to us than traditional cell towers, pulsing out very-high-frequency radio waves at high power levels, pose real risks to human health?
I’ve been impatient for years with people complaining about the health effects of wireless communications. The phrase “tinfoil hat” leaps to mind, I readily concede. But I am learning that hundreds of scientists and tens of thousands of others believe that the intensity of 5G represents a phase change and that 5G’s effects on mankind should be studied closely before this technology is widely adopted.
Other scientists worry about mental health effects, sterility, cancer, and a host of other problems they say can be triggered by long-term exposure to base stations and handheld devices. Canadian scientist Magda Havas, who studies and writes about electromagnetic radiation and teaches at the University of Trent, asserts that the governmental bodies and agencies that say that "non-ionizing" (effectively, non-heating) radiation is safe and can't cause cancer below existing heat guidelines are wrong; she points to what she calls "sufficient scientific evidence of cellular damage" caused by these transmissions.
And as the website Strange Sounds had reported back on January 21st, we may very well be witnessing the '5G apocalypse' as is also heard in the 2nd and final video at the bottom of this story. Think that's a gross exaggeration? From their story.:
Scientists, environmental groups, doctors and citizens around the world are appealing to all governments to halt telecommunications companies’ deployment of 5G (fifth generation) wireless networks, which they call “an experiment on humanity and the environment that is defined as a crime under international law.”
Research has shown that wireless radiation can cause DNA damage, neuropsychiatric effects and other health problems.
“Even though the radiation associated with 5G technologies hasn’t been investigated as extensively as that associated with current cell phone technologies, there is a substantial body of literature and evidence to indicate a significant impact of exposure on human health and development,” Dr. Jerry Phillips, a professor at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Colorado, told Salon in an email.
“Of concern here are not just the potential effects of 5G-associated radiation, but what might result from the combined impact of 5G-radiation with other sources of non-ionizing radiation in our environment. Certainly, a more careful and thorough assessment of the risks to human and environmental health are warranted.”

A monstrous four-man-high ice-wall has been dumped in a sodden farmer's field by a raging torrent of water. In scenes reminiscent of Game of Thrones, the Kepler family squelch along the side of the mile long frozen barricade in the middle of their hay meadow. The Niobrara river burst its banks last month due to a massive 'bomb cyclone' storm, flinging water and ice across a million acres of farmland from the Dakotas to Missouri. The towering wall of ice was abandoned as flood waters receded in Keya Paha county, Nebraska.

They struggle along the edge of the immense 20-foot high and 200-yard wide ice-wall as it glints in the sunlight.
The wall, formed of several shards of ice, was dumped in their 75-acre hay meadow as flood waters receded. 'We don’t even know what to think yet', Ann told the Lincoln Journal and Star. 'Parts of us are thinking this might be there until it starts snowing again.' After showing the wall, the video swings over to the scraped bare and soaked countryside. The family said that as much as 155-acres of their farmland has been buried by ice following the storm. At least 1.1 million acres of cropland and more than 84,000 acres of pastureland in the US Midwest had flood waters on then for at least seven days between March 8 and March 21, satellite data analysed by Gro Intelligence revealed.

This may delay the planting of soy, wheat and corn for the coming year which could affect production Floodwaters submerged fields from the Dakotas to Missouri for a week while ice blocks scraped away topsoil, flattened property and uprooted a bridge. 'There's thousands of acres that won't be able to be planted', Ryan Sonderup, 36, who has been farming for 18 years in Fullerton, Nebraska, said. 'If we had straight sunshine now until May and June, maybe it can be done, but I don't see how that soil gets back with expected rainfall.' Fields are strewn with everything from silt and sand to tyre meaning some may not even be farmed this year. The water has also destroyed billions of dollars of old crops that were in storage, as well as damaging roads and railways.

The ice blocks were also dumped in some fields rendering them useless for planting at present Justin Mensik, a fifth-generation farmer of corn and soybeans in Morse Bluff, Nebraska, said rebuilding roads was the first priority. Then farmers would need to bring in fertilizer trucks and then test soil before seeding, Mensik said. 'We're not too sure if we're going to be able to get a good crop this year with all the new mud and junk that's just laying here," said Mensik. To be fully covered by crop insurance, Iowa farmers must plant corn by May 31 and soybeans by June 15, as yields decline dramatically when planted any later. Deadlines vary state by state. The insurance helps ensure a minimum price farmers will receive when they book sales for their crops. It is unusual to see ice in the area in late March, when temperatures vary between eight degrees celcius and minus five. The frozen blocks may have instead been brought down by the river from its source in the cool High Plains, Wyoming.
