(CNSNews.com) - As House Democrats try to redo the Mueller investigation, Republicans are focused on the origins of that investigation -- what prompted the FBI to launch a counter intelligence investigation into the Trump campaign. Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), a member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, told Fox News Wednesday night that whistleblowers are starting to talk -- and he thinks indictments are coming. Meadows spoke on the same day the Democrat-led House intelligence committee held a hearing titled, “Lessons from the Mueller Report."
The hearing was called to "explore the significant counterintelligence threats to the U.S. democratic system posed by the numerous links and contacts between members of the Trump campaign, transition and administration, and Russia and its proxies, as documented in Volume I of Mueller’s Report."
Fox News's Sean Hannity asked Meadows and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) if U.S. intelligence officials outsourced spying on the Trump campaign to foreign allies. Nunes, the ranking member of the iintelligence committee, said, "We don't know yet," but that's what Attorney General William Barr and Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham are trying to find out. "We have a right to know what countries were involved in this," he added. Meadows told Hannity:
Quote :
We’re getting a lot of whistle-blowers, primarily whistle-blowers are coming forward because they believe Attorney General Bill Barr and John Durham are willing to get to the bottom of it. So people that perhaps were afraid under previous leadership to actually say, well, we knew this was wrong, they’re coming forward now.
And when we look at intelligence, we know the intelligence community shares a lot of information. What we also know…is that the Steele dossier, Christopher Steele, his dossier -- not only does it have his origins with Fusion GPS and the Democrat National Committee, but other players that are connected -- Sidney Blumenthal -- and they were shopping it to every media outlet that they possibly could and the FBI knew it.
That’s the problem, the FBI knew it prior to that first FISA and here they are using it as credible information for a FISA application? I just think that that's totally wrong.
Hannity asked both men where they see the investigation going, and who should be worried: “People need to go to jail, people need to be held accountable and I believe indictments are on their way," Meadows said. Nunes said former FBI agents involved in text messages should be concerned, as should "the dirty operations arms of the Clinton campaign."

Nunes Compares ‘Shoddy’ Mueller Report to Debunked Steele Dossier By Susan Jones | June 13, 2019 | 7:20 AM EDT

(CNSNews.com) – “After years of false accusations and McCarthyite smears, the collusion hoax now defines the Democrat Party,” Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) told the House intelligence committee on Wednesday. Nunes spoke at the start of a hearing titled, “Lessons from the Mueller Report: Counterintelligence Implications of Volume I.” “The Democrats assembled us today to analyze the shoddy political hit piece known as the Mueller report,” Nunes, the committee’s ranking member, said.

Quote :
It’s written in the same spirit, and with the same purpose, as the Steele dossier, which was once championed by Democrats on this committee, but which they rarely mentioned after it was exposed as yet another Democrat-created hoax. Unfortunately for the Democrats, the Mueller dossier, as I call it, either debunked many of their favorite conspiracy theories or did not even find them worth discussing. These include Mueller’s finding that Michael Cohen did not travel to Prague to conspire with the Russians; no evidence that Carter Page conspired with the Russians; no mention of Paul Manafort visiting Julian Assange in London; no mention of secret communications between Trump Tower and Russia’s Alpha Bank. And no mention of former NRA lawyer Cleta Mitchell or her supposed knowledge of a scheme to launder Russian money through the NRA for the Trump campaign.
Nunes said the “real purpose” of the Mueller report was to “help Democrats impeach the president,” despite the lack of any real evidence.
“Thus the report includes a long litany of ordinary contacts between Trump associates and Russians as if a certain number of contacts indicate a conspiracy,” Nunes said. Nunes also mentioned the Mueller report’s selective editing of a voice mail from Trump attorney John Dowd to Michael Flynn’s attorney, which made the message seem “threatening and nefarious.” Then Nunes listed some of what the Mueller report does not contain:
Quote :
No comment on the close relationship between Democrat operatives and Fusion GPS and multiple Russians who participated in the June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower. In fact, no mention or comment on Fusion GPS at all. No useful information on figures who played key roles such as Joseph Misfud, a Malta diplomat; or the Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, or the Democrat-paid operative and former spy Christopher Steele. No useful information about the many irregularities that marred the FBI’s Russia investigation.
However, Nunes said, the Mueller report does include dozens of news articles from reporters who were perpetuating the Russian hoax:
“Thus Mueller produce a perfect feedback loop -- intelligence leakers spinning false stories to the media; the media publishes the story. Mueller cites the story, and the media and the Democrats then fake outrage at Mueller’s findings." "In sum," Nunes concluded, "Mueller relied on a mass of reporting whose central narrative – that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian to hack the elections – is false. "And the Democrats spread a hoax claiming Trump is a Russian agent, but it was later discovered the only people who colluded with Russians were the Democrats -- who paid for the Steele dossier which relied on Russian sources." Nunes said the House intelligence committee was created to do important oversight work of U.S. intelligence agencies, something that is particularly important, now that “the media have abandoned their traditional watchdog role and instead have become a mouthpiece for a cabal of intelligence leakers. "I understand the Democrats inability to move past their failed hoax and get back to normal business," Nunes said. "Nevertheless, I suggest they give it a try.” For his part, Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), a Trump foe, said Mueller "left many critical questions unanswered," including "what happened to the (FBI's) counterintelligence investigation; were there other forms of compromise, like money laundering left out, uninvestigated or referred to other offices; were individuals granted security clearances that shouldn't have; and are there individuals still operating in the administration that leave America vulnerable? "We are determined to find out," Schiff said.
