MY GRAND PARENTS (MOTHERS SIDE) FLED RUSSIA JUST BEFORE THE BOLSHEVIKS CAME TO TOWN.. YEAR AFTER=FAMINE AND KILLING.
THEY WERE VOLGA GERMANS .. INVITED IN TO FARM IN RUSSIA BY QUEEN CATHERINE.
3 GENERATIONS LATER THEY SAW TROUBLE COMING AND LEFT TO WASHINGTON STATE APPLE ORCHARDS AND FARM IN WALLA WALLA.
I WAS BORN IN WESTERN WASHINGTON.
THE GENEALOGICAL STORY IS VERY INTERESTING, ONE OF LONG TRIPS TO RUSSIA, HARDSHIP AND THREATS.
