First Lady Melania Trump was briefed this morning by the Task Force on Protecting Native American Children in the Indian Health System (IHS), which was created by President Trump last March.
President Trump formed the Task Force in response to systemic breakdowns within IHS, including one that failed to stop a predatory pediatrician from abusing his capacity as a doctor. The pediatrician left the agency in 2016 and is now in Federal prison
The Task Force is developing recommended policies and best practices to protect Native American children and prevent such an abuse from ever happening again.

‘We have made it our top priority to shelter our seniors’
The Trump Administration is equipping states to protect our most vulnerable population—seniors—from the effects of Coronavirus. For starters, an additional $5 billion will be allocated to nursing homes that receive funds from Medicare or Medicaid.

Nursing homes in states with elevated COVID-positive rates will be required to test their entire staffs each week. The Administration will help nursing homes comply by distributing 15,000 rapid point-of-care diagnostic devices and associated tests.
“Over the past few months, we’ve created a surveillance system to detect outbreaks, and currently 99 percent of all nursing homes are reporting directly to it. So we have great data,” President Trump said.
