Soldiers joined police and firefighters on New York's Randall's Island to train for 'America's worst day' this week, to prepare for the event of a catastrophic terrorist attack on the Big Apple.Pictures show the Army's Task Force 46 being coached how to respond to a nuclear or biological attack on the New York City subway or Yankee stadium.Around 170 soldiers from across the country participated in the three-day 'Dense Urban Terrain Exercise' joint exercise with personnel from the NYPD and FDNY last week on the island that separates Harlem River and East River.The training exercise, which took place on August 4, comes almost one month away from the 20th anniversary of the terror attacks by al-Qaeda on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon - that in addition to the crash of United 93 claimed almost 3,000 American lives.

Just in 2018, a steam pipe explosion in the subway spread asbestos, a highly carcinogenic substance, in tunnels in New York City. At least 50 buildings had to be evacuated. In April, Indian Point, a nuclear plant in Westchester County, was ordered to shut down after concerns that the 20 million people living within 50 miles of the plant couldn't be evacuated in a radiological accident. The shutdown was granted after a long battle amid fears intensified when one of the plans hijacked in the 9/11 attacks flew by the plant on its way to the World Trade Center. There were 706 explosion incidents and 426 bombing hoaxes in the U.S. in 2018. New York was amongst the states with most reported hoax device incidents, according to the Department of Justice. The soldiers are trained to deal with situations that don't happen in an sterile military environment and require an approach of real-life urgency. The goal was to 'supplement or fill gaps for local and state agencies,' like training the NYPD and FDNY to do mass chemical decontamination that most local agencies can't take on. 'Everybody needs to get back to training,' said Col. Chris McKinney, chief of staff of the special task force.'And you see the happiness on the kids' faces 'cause they're getting to practice their craft, and they're getting to learn it from the best in the business,' he added. 'So, I mean, FDNY, NYPD here — they've done so much stuff,' McKinney said. Task Force 46, which was formed in 2013, practiced how to carry out search and rescue efforts in a disaster situation. The exercise simulated a nuclear and biological event on the NYC subway system and Yankee Stadium.Similar drills are scheduled for Philadelphia and Los Angeles in the coming months of September and October.This raises concerns because the US Military has a track record for conducting experiments on the population using deadly pathogens without the population’s knowledge or consent.Right now there is no proof that anything nefarious is taking place. But if history has taught us anything, it’s that government exercises and drills provide the perfect cover to conduct covert and illegal operations.
