Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, will not return to the White House in the new administration but could advise on Middle East policy, according to people familiar with the matter.
Trump allies expect that Kushner will play an advisory role on the next administration’s Middle East policy, though it could depend on the final make-up of the team. He has maintained close ties with senior officials in the Gulf and in Israel.
Trump’s transition team has been looking to tap a senior national security official to work on Middle East issues — potentially with Kushner’s input.
Two people under consideration, according to a person familiar with the matter, are former senior National Security Council official Victoria Coates and Miguel Correa, a retired major general who worked with Kushner on the Abraham Accords and was also US defence attaché in Abu Dhabi.
The transition team has also been assembling shortlists for top national security jobs in the next administration. Richard Grenell, Trump’s former ambassador to Germany, is a contender to be secretary of state or national security adviser. Senator Bill Hagerty, former ambassador to Japan, and former national security adviser Robert O’Brien are also potential choices.
Brian Hook, the Trump administration’s former envoy on Iran, is leading the transition at the state department, according to people familiar with the matter.
Kash Patel, a former senior defence official, is also expected to have a senior national security role, while Congressman Mike Waltz and former secretary of state Mike Pompeo are among the top candidates to lead the Pentagon.

REUTERS: Members of President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team are drawing up a list of military officers to be fired, potentially to include the Joint Chiefs of Staff, two sources said, in what would be an unprecedented shakeup at the Pentagon.
The planning for the firings is at an early stage after Trump’s Nov. 5 election victory and could change as Trump’s administration takes shape, said the sources, who are familiar with the Trump transition and requested anonymity to speak candidly about the plans. One of the sources questioned the feasibility of a mass firing at the Pentagon.
It was also unclear if Trump himself would endorse the plan, although in the past he has railed extensively against defense leaders who have criticized him.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to request for comment.
The second source said the incoming administration would likely focus on U.S. military officers seen as connected to Mark Milley, Trump’s former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Why?

But you have had conservative accounts like @BioClandestine who were lead to believe M. Flynn had a chance at another term under D. Trump when he was fired in 23 days from the last term. And people are mad at me because they hate that M. Flynn confirmed everything I have been telling you all.
Can anyone name an M. Flynn favorite that was able to grab a spot under D. Trump thus far? They keep trying to push Kash Patel but nothing has been confirmed by D. Trump. Do you know how embarrassing it has to be for those who was pushing M. Flynn as the Spartan warrior to avenge the great American dream to freedom? Did you know that 85% of the federal workforce works from home and only have to come in one day a month? On any given day, only 17% of the federal workforce is in a federal office building working. Many hold other jobs. It's one giant looting operation and US taxpayers are their mark.
