The Books that Changed My Life

A Tribute
Introduction-
With the obvious exception of the Holy Bible, I can truly say that there were only two books that dramatically changed my life and altered its course. These books are Temple at the Center of Time and America, the Babylon.
What is stunning is that I read them at the same time, circa late September of 2008. Both were “page turners”, so I found myself alternating books for a couple of weeks until I had finished the two of them. Temple at the Center of Time had been heartily advertised by World Net Daily, a site I frequented daily in those days, so I quickly ordered it from WND Books.
On the other hand, I was only able to procure a loan copy of America, the Babylonfrom my local library, as it is a very hard to find book which had been out of print for a decade. Before reading this classic, I had been involved in an intensive study of the identity of Babylon the Great, trying to understand which nation this mysterious entity represented. I had read all the books which featured the standard theories of Rome/Roman Catholic Church, Iraq, Jerusalem, UN/Brussels, and Saudi Arabia, but before I even finished America, the Babylon it hit me like a ton of bricks:
Babylon the Great was none other than my beloved United States of America!
On the other hand, Temple at the Center of Time was absolutely fascinating and breathtaking. The author’s discoveries regarding the connection of time and distance to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem were stunning, and in short order I became an active member of his groundbreaking Watcher Forum.
Using what I’d gained from reading these two masterful books, I began to study the Biblical Babylon America by applying the techniques described in Temple at the Center of Time. Nearly five years later, I’m still at it and, in fact, have unpublished discoveries to present to my blog readers, hopefully within the next 3 months.
America, the Babylon-
Why am I writing this article now? Because Richard A. Coombes, author of America, the Babylon, passed away Tuesday night, the 30th of July. He was 61 years of age. He is also known for his cutting edge prophecy blog alphaomega report-

You can read of his passing here-

And here-

Richard Coombes was only recently diagnosed with liver cancer and, true to form, received this news with grace and humility. Here is his own article which announces his dire prognosis-

And following is an excerpt from his article (bold emphasis C.M.N.)-

- My current situation now allows me to provide a shining example of how Christians should respond in such situations facing mortality. It is a wonderful opportunity to witness to unbelievers as to our faith and as an encouragement to fellow believers and family around us.
Already, while in the hospital, I have had numerous opportunities to share and many expressed that they felt blessed by my interaction with them. I had a field day with the nursing staff – joking around and passing out miniature Reese’s peanut butter cups as part of my evangelism.
The normal response to such news is to go into “denial” but this was not my case. My initial response was – “Wow” – I finally get to go Home.” My second response – to all others including the doctors was:
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. It doesn’t get any better than that. I feel sorry for you who are left behind.
Sisters and brothers, we can all learn from his shining example! I met Richard Coombes back in early June of 2009 when I was in his Heartland state of Missouri doing research for my article America’s Destiny Revealed within Her Landscape, Part I and future article Part II. He invited me into his modest house, and was a charming and gracious host who knew the Bible front to back, and had also learned Hebrew and Greek “self taught”. He told me that his discovery that America was Babylon totally changed his life, and as a result he had lost many friends, had strained family relationships, and was forced to endure much financial hardship. Furthermore, he suggested to me that if I continued to do research related to America as Babylon that I could likewise expect dramatic changes in my own life especially as regards my family. Richard Coombes’ prophetic word has certainly come to pass, as my life has never been the same and is much harder now in certain ways, especially the abandonment by loved ones. The truth that America is Babylon the Great is one which the lukewarm American church refuses to swallow, and as a result our pulpits are full of false shepherds spewing a phony prosperity gospel. Richard Coombes was a true pioneer, the first to convincingly demonstrate, beyond a shadow of a doubt as far as I’m concerned, that his own beloved America was Babylon the Great. Readers, Richard Coombes was a patriotic American; in fact, he worked for the Reagan Administration before he saw the light (as it were). You will find his short biography at the front of his classic book.
Personally, I’m no good at book reviews, although I’d give his classic five out of five stars. However, here is a 5 Star Amazon review of America, the Babylon from “A Customer” which I feel obliged to share (emphasis C.M.N.)-

- There hasn’t been a book like this since ‘The Late Great Planet Earth.’ That is the magnitude of this book. From one scholar to another my hat goes off to this author. It’s a great read that reaches out to not only the scholar but to the average reader so that all can understand. Yet it provides the data for serious researchers to follow up in their own research. Those who stubbornly cling to the notion that Mystery Babylon’s identity is Rome, or Iraq, or the Catholic Church or the UN are left gasping for breath as this book’s data just destroys the other theories claims. It is an exhaustive presentation of all the facts. But those facts are analyzed within the context of the ancient Hebrew and Greek texts of scripture. The author’s analysis is truly without parallel on these issues. He seems to have left no stone unturned. Unquestionably, America is Mystery Babylon. If the scriptures aren’t enough for the reader, the author presents empirical support showing extensive Babylonian roots in America’s very beginnings. He presents the facts we didn’t learn in school. Like the US Capitol building (where our lawmakers meet) is a replica of the Roman Pantheon who had in turn replicated the Babylonian Pantheon! The author documents this with Internet web links to the US Library of Congress website. Then there’s the stunning revelation that the Statue of Liberty and also the Statue of Freedom were representations of the Babylonian chief goddess Ishtar who was called the Mother of Harlots, just like Revelation 17:4-5 describes. But there’s a lot more. This book is an eye-opener but not all want to have their eyes opened. If the prospective buyer has an unbiased viewpoint he will conclude that Mystery Babylon is America just as the book demonstrates. The book is bound to created further controversy on the subject despite its ironclad documentation. Why? People will reject out of hand what they refuse to accept. This is one scholar who is glad that this book is out for public consumption. It is much needed.
I quoted Richard Coombes extensively in my own article Babylon, Babylon. Here is what I wrote about him in the Acknowledgements section-

- Thanks to Dr. Richard Coombes for the second most important book I’ve ever read; it changed my life, blessings to you always.
For the most part, Richard Coombes’ unpopular message was rejected by the Church and society alike. Yet, here is a rare example of him in a public forum, speaking at The Prophecy Club-

I would encourage each and every one of you to get your hands on Richard Coombe’s classic book and read it, cover to cover. He has also written a must-read Volume II, apparently available only as a PDF file. A quick check of Amazon this morning showed only a few books (Volume I) available, with price tags from about $160 to $1000, but please look around (see Bibliography for more details). I do have my own copy of his book now- Richard Coombes himself gave me this very special signed, pre-publication edition and I absolutely cherish it! Also I would encourage you all to scan his blog and read especially his latest articles about Syria, Iran, and “the fanners”.
Temple at the Center of Time-
David Flynn, author of Temple at the Center of Time, passed away on the 22nd of January, 2012. He was only 49 years old.
Although I never met Mr. Flynn, I felt that I knew him through his Watcher Forum, as we discussed his research and I posted my own contrite findings regarding his work. He was a brilliant man and an awesome man of God, full of the Holy Spirit and a caring, compassionate individual. I encourage you to please read this tribute to the late great David Flynn; this is Part Three, penned by his twin brother Mark (other parts available at same website)-

In addition, a wonderful Amazon review of his book Temple at the Center of Time is found here, by John Hoben (bold emphasis C.M.N.)-

- As a sincere follower and believer in Jesus Christ, Flynn does a good job issuing a prophetic ‘watch’ notice, blending Biblical and secular accounts of historical facts with ‘new’ data. Most of this ‘new’ data is centered around linking distances from Jerusalem’s Temple Mount to key historical dates which seem to defy mere coincidence. (Of course, most Hebrew Rabbis will tell you coincidence is not a Kosher word!)
While some of the logic and calculations may seem contrived, Flynn does a good job using new technology (specifically NASA’s World Wind program) in calculating distances to key locations in London, Washington, Babylon, Mecca, Egypt and other nations who possess unique historical relationships with Jerusalem’s ancient Jewish Temples. Many of these “distances that match key dates and symbols” range from 1,948 nautical miles from the center of London to the corner stone of Solomon’s Temple. This matches up to 1948AD, when the British Empire established the Modern Nation of Israel. Flynn also shows there are 666 nautical miles between Mecca, Saudi Arabia and the Temple corner stone.
Flynn does a good job linking these calculations back to Biblical prophecies of Daniel, with some unique insights not published before. For example, Flynn calls out the unique properties of numbers such as 2,520 (equivalent to the number of days in Daniel’s ‘week of years’ as well as the gematria of Babylon’s King Nebuchaadnezzar’s `writing on the wall’ interpreted by Daniel), 1,260 (half of 2,520) the constant pi and other numbers with their roots in the ancient Jewish Temples’ architecture. He also makes some other very unique, interesting observations between the geo-positioning of ancient sites and their relation to the Temple. Flynn does NOT put forth this type of distance / date observation as a new ‘bible code’ but rather explores Isaac Newton’s Bible research as it relates to ancient prophecy and world events.
Other calculations are not as straight forward, such as the year 2012 calculated through a series of conversions between Lunar (Hebrew) and Solar (Gregorian) calendars, multiplication against Pi and offset by the dedication year of Solomon’s Temple. These calculations are all contained within less than 6 pages of the Epilogue out of 296 total pages which doesn’t warrant it as a sub-title for the entire book.
Beyond the time / distance parallel calculations, Flynn does an interesting job linking post-renaissance ‘illuminated’ world leaders’ beliefs from the Jewish Temple’s vantage point. Facts are well cited in each respective chapter’s end notes, such as the origin of the word ‘church’, ‘ark’ and ‘tau’ in how they are inter-related to the ‘primal knowledge’ or ‘priscia sapientia’ avidly pursued by many renaissance scholars. Flynn makes subtle reference to the growing tension around 2012 as the end of the Mayan calendar and the potential for that time being a star gate through which the ‘watchers’ (implicit in Genesis 6, Matthew 24 and Jude) return to earth. Under no circumstances does Flynn pick any second advent, rapture or other prophetic dates but merely puts the reader on ‘watch notice’ similar to a meteorological tornado watch.
Bottom line: read the book. Flynn’s ambassadorship for the King of kings is well reflected in this thoughtful piece of work.
Like Sir Isaac Newton before him, David Flynn was deeply committed to deciphering Bible prophecy, and his legacy is yet to be fully realized.
Summary-
After I received the news this morning of Richard Coombes’ passing I immediately went into prayerful mourning. Later, the Holy Spirit came upon me and I had an instant understanding that his death and David Flynn’s were somehow connected, and that God Himself would reveal this connection. I was therefore compelled to check the date duration between their individual passing’s, and the stunning difference between 22 January, 2012 and 30 July, 2013 is 555 days-
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/durationresult.html?
m1=1&d1=22&y1=2012&m2=7&d2=30&y2=2013
The number 555 means “Walking with God“-
http://www.biblewheel.com/GR/GR_555.php
Genesis 5:24-
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.“
Praise God! Although I had no doubt that these two great men of God were now walking with Him in Heaven I still find this beautiful and reassuring. Richard Coombes believed in the pre-Tribulation rapture, and now the Lord has taken him home before the start of the Tribulation. How gracious is our awesome Lord and Savior? And now David Flynn has the answers to all of the questions he once had about time, distance, and the Temple Mount for he is with the angels of the Most High God! As I grieve these two men, I am reminded of the corpus of work and legacies they have granted to the Body of Christ, those of us so far “left behind”. Meanwhile, they are in Heaven listening to the beautiful music.
My only hope is that this article will open eyes to the amazing work of these two men and that others might be abundantly blessed. The writing of this article certainly has helped me deal with momentous loss.
