Eric Holder: Drone strikes against Americans on U.S. soil are legal

be constitutional to carry out a drone strike against an American on
American soil, he wrote in a letter to Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

“It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance
in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution
and applicable laws of the United States for the President to authorize
the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United
States,” Holder replied in a letter yesterday to Paul’s question about
whether Obama “has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone
strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and without trial.”

Paul condemned the idea. “The U.S. Attorney General’s refusal to rule
out the possibility of drone strikes on American citizens and on
American soil is more than frightening – it is an affront the
Constitutional due process rights of all Americans,” he said in a
statement.

When I read Attorney
General Holder's letter, I could hardly believe what I was reading.

Isn't government claiming the authority to assassinate its own citizens on its
own soil something you hear about in Third World dictatorships?

Has our Republic really sunk this far?

Will Americans see our skies filled with government drones outfitted with
missiles meant for us?

Already, domestic spy drones are being outfitted with the ability to track cell
phones and detect if law-abiding citizens are carrying firearms.

This is outrageous.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney quoted from the letter that Holder sent to Paul today. “Does the president have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on an American soil?” Holder wrote, per Carney. “The answer is no.”

Paul said that was good enough for him. “I’m quite happy with the answer,” he said during a CNN interview. “I’m disappointed it took a month and a half and a root canal to get it, but we did get the answer.”

Carney added that, “if the United States were under attack, there were an imminent threat,” the president has the authority to protect the country from that assault.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., criticized Paul for posing the question. “I find the question offensive,” he said on the Senate floor this morning.

Not that the law matters to BamBam. but I think Paul just wanted it in writing from the administration..... Graham and McCain are griping up a storm about it but I think those two are and have been shills for BamBam since before the first election. I remember commenting on here that during the first election McCain seemed to be doting on BamBam like a proud Granfather, it made me sick then and it still does. Anyway, Holder reiterated that it's against the law, he never said BamBam wouldn't do it anyway. And Rand Paul was rockin it out on the floor yesterday! righton
