| Says they think it's a transformer, but those don't tend to shake the ground...

| Kinda weird...it looks like the fire was inside the building...and you can see the transformers in the foreground.(outside the building) They look all good. | |

| I'm having internet issues, but plz refer to the map I replied to recently in one of springs' threads. AR1 is a fairly decently engineered PWR. Transformers & what not blowing has absolute zero effect or relationship with the reactor itself from a technical standpoint, but there is something not being revealed & or discussed if they've SCRAM'd the unit. | |

| External power could be an issue if lost long enough... this is why all those power grid down drills... they are worried about that situation where a reactor loses outside power for longer than they have fuel for generators, if generators to supply emergency power run out of fuel it will be bad if they don't go into power down mode right away.
For the life of me I cannot understand why they wanted to rely on outside power for controls... and generators.. I did report some time ago about the Testing of the Generators... an outside contractor is required to do periodic tests.. to sign off that they work properly. The one doing the inspecting said that multiple generators at each site failed as in broken crank shafts... that means major breakdown!! not something simply fixed by part purchase down the street!!! It almost sounded like engineered failure to cause melt down.. but that is just me .. knowing what we know about the plans of the bad ones today... old ready to fail plants and failing safety systems is not good!!! |

| The PWR's were engineered to be self-sustainable, if need be. They don't need external power. Whatever was/is having trouble is essential to energy transmission elsewhere, but does not necessarily reflect a problem within the reactor unit(s). Like the article says, you more than likely have an oil fire of sorts. - spring2 wrote:
