2013 and America- A Quick Look Back

First of all, let me thank my regular readers again for your incredible support of this ministry. I must assume that the Chozeh & Nabiy blog is still “open for business” in 2014 for here I am, having just finished this, a new article, as the Lord has led. About a week ago just after most of the encouraging comments on the last article hit, in fact New Year Eve 2013 on our Gregorian calendar, was replete with “new beginning metaphors” as it was 64 (8 x 8)days from 28 October, the day of my Jeremiah 1:5 calling, and was also a “10/28″ or “28/10″ in its own right, being the 28th of the month of Tevet on the Hebrew calendar (month 10 by the religious schedule which begins with Nisan). As a reminder, the number 8 signifies “new beginnings” Biblically.
This is not meant by any means to be an exhaustive summary of the year, but rather a topical article covering just a couple of main points. Right off the bat, the number 13 has been attached to America from her birth. It is the Biblical number of rebellion as eloquently demonstrated by E.W. Bullinger in his classic Number in Scripture. America was born in rebellion and, it seems to me, in 2013 she both flaunted her debauchery and was exposed for what she truly is. And it’s not a pretty picture. America will likewise perish for her rebellion against the One True God. This said, I would call the year 2013 “the year of twenty-fold (20-fold*) rebellion”. Just look at the positioning of the 20 and the 13 in “2013″; it seems clear to me that this relationship was met.
2013 was the year that America over and above crossed the line in terms of the promotion of “gay” culture; gay and LGBT were everywhere, not only “in your face” but “over the top” and basically a flaunting of depravity as a fist in the face of God. If there was any question as to whether America was a “type” of Sodom and Gomorrah prior to 2013, the year 2013 certainly answered it. Think Miley Cyrus and twerking (a new word coined in 2013, by the way, and Oxford Dictionary’s “word of the year”). Remember Beyonce’s exhibition at the Super Bowl to start the year.
Think of all the gay and lesbian weddings the media just couldn’t wait to tell us about. Recall the depraved scenes at the very end of the year at Times Square in New York City (Babylon, Babylon). The list goes on and on, and frankly I have no desire to remember nor add to it!
However, I do desire to share with you all about a strange experience I had several years ago while attending a wedding in Texas, USA. It must have been about 2008 as I had just recently been “awakened” to the truth. The pastor was a woman, interestingly, but I don’t recall into which denomination she was ordained nor the specific church building where the ceremony took place. Anyway, when the pastor spoke vows to the bride as in “Do you, such-and-such take this man to be . . . ?”
the last name she spoke for the bride was . . . get this . . . Gomorrah . . . I kid you not . . . she said “Gomorrah” clear as a bell . . . I was absolutely stunned but the pastor quickly recovered and repeated the bride’s last name, properly this time; it was a rather common Spanish surname in fact. There wasn’t much “murmuring” or any indication that many others in attendance had heard what I had, but frankly I was embarrassed for the couple and a bit shaken at what had transpired.
However, at the reception I could see why the pastor may have had a “slip of the tongue” as it were. The bride (and groom) were very inappropriate in their behavior, especially in their selection of music and the gyrating manner of their dancing with one another. The entire reception was quite the debauchery-fest in fact, very nearly a drunken orgy, and I almost felt like I was literally in Gomorrah!
Of course, you won’t be surprised to know that the couple had lived together prior to their lovely wedding. Also, as an update, rumor has it they have since divorced. But, hey, they had a cool reception, right?
Seriously, though, I can’t help but think that God placed me at that wedding to see a parable playing out. The “bride” in America is corrupt for the most part, she is a wannabe bride who has more in common with Sodom and Gomorrah than with the Kingdom. Speaking at least of those calling themselves “Christian” as this couple did. The would-be bride was filthy, polluted, as Gomorrah. She was a false bride and he a false bridegroom**. The United States of America has fallen spiritually to the level that her “King” is now Satan (see Isaiah 14). And the lesson for us in the True Church is to shed every bit of this world, this Babylon, and live separately, for Babylonianism infects the entire planet, not just those of us living here in physical Babylon.
When I look back at 2013 and the twenty-fold rebellion I also remember that America’s Federal Government was exposed as frauds and liars. Edward Snowden helped pull the curtain back and let us see what was really going on with the NSA, etc. The IRS abuses were in the news, the Benghazi cover-up got some publicity, etc. This is not unexpected; in fact, it is indeed expected that when a culture insists upon freedom from God that this same culture goes back into bondage. Not only is the homosexual lifestyle bondage, but being under constant Government surveillance is subservience as well. Likewise, we’re in bondage to an usurper to the throne in the person of President B.H. Obama [the theme of "bondage" ties in neatly with my next article].
So, throughout 2013 the media was flaunting the homosexual agenda and the world got to see American cultural debauchery whether they wanted to or not (since America the Babylon’s culture is spread world-wide like the spiritually-deadly virus it is). Anyway, there is a Bible Chapter in Isaiah which comes to mind whenever I reflect on 2013; the entirety of Isaiah 47 (bold & maroon emphasis C.M.)-
1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
2 Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
3 Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
4 As for our redeemer, the Lord of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
5 Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
7 And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
10 For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
11 Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
15 Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.
The “real” America was exposed in 2013 for what she truly is, and by this I mean both the “America” as represented by the Government and that represented by the people (culture). In addition to this, it seems to me that 2013 may be looked back on as the year of America’s final/full spiritual fall-to-no-return. After all, it is the year in which Obama was seated for the second time as the King of Babylon; twice, Biblically, is confirmation. America confirmed her own dire end and hastened it!
But so as not to end this article on such a negative, the Good News is Jesus Christ Himself, and as we come “out of Babylon” spiritually we can know His call on our individual lives. This article will be followed by a “Part I” dealing with the Book of Malachi and how the message of Malachi is for us in the True Church of today who have indeed left Babylon.
