I got a business email yesterday touting the next big thing in videoconferencing: holographic telepresence. Technology now makes possible, real-time, a three-dimensional representation of you sharing a virtual conference room with colleagues halfway round the world. (Think Facetime on digital steroids.)  A promising business tool, no doubt. But all I could think about was II Thessalonians.


Progress in long distance face-to-face communication has advanced rapidly in the last ten years. Skype, with more than 300 million users now, is rapidly becoming antiquated, having been replaced by cell phone applications, like facetime, which pretty much the whole world uses.


(I read this week that there are now more cell phones than people in the world. And more cell phones than toilets, but that's not something I really want to think about.)


According to the technology’s developers, holographic telepresence is an evolving refinement of current technologies that provides full-motion, three dimensional images that closely simulate reality.  Holographic telepresence systems can project realistic, full-motion, real-time3D images of distant people and objects into a room in such a way that it really simulates their actual physical presence.  Images can converse with each other just like they were really in the same room as well, with no lag time in the audio.


Bottom line, as Ma Bell, used to say, "It's the next best thing to being there." But now it really is just like being there. Enough so that physicians thousands of miles away can assist in diagnoses, in real time. Enough that fashion shows have featured holographic telepresence models. So much so that the Black Eyed Peas did a holographic telepresence concert.


So much so that the dead rapper Tupac Shakur did a concert (virtually resurrected.)


The technology works by capturing images of  people and surrounding objects, compressing them, and transmitting them over a broadband network, where they are decompressed, and then projected by lasers. This is pretty much how conventional holographs have been made, but with much higher resolution and able to interact in real time. 


Just like being there.


You can see just how much it's just like being there in this youtube video. This is a demonstration conducted, interestingly enough, by a guy who calls himself a holographic telepresence evangelist.


It is pretty darn realistic. And it's getting more so, as its developers work on ways to create technology that is completely "immersive" by stimulating users' senses in such a way that a reality is created that is indistinguishable from, well, reality. Visual stimuli, for example would include life–size participants, natural fluid motion, realistic flesh tones and real eye contact. Larger screens increase the sense of immersion, even to creating biological responses to what is, after all, just an image. (Think IMAX, and the physical reactions you can have to going over a cliff on the screen).


Technology is rapidly approaching the capability of producing an image of a person that will be functionally, for all intents and purposes, able to interact with people exactly as if the person himself was in the room.


I think by now my readers probably know where this is going.


Daniel 9:24-27 tells us that the antichrist will, halfway through the Tribulation; desecrate the Holy of Holies in an event called the Abomination of Desolation.
II Thessalonians refers to that event as well, saying that the antichrist,

Quote :

"opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God [in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God". (II Thessalonians 2:4 NKJV)

But isn't it interesting that Revelation goes on to tell us that it is not, at the most basic level, the beast himself that all of mankind is expected to worship, but the image of the beast:

Quote :

"And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed."  (Revelation 13:14-15)

Here's where it gets really interesting.


The developers of holographic telepresence technology state that the technology will permit users in two different places to act upon each other, that "the user's position, movements, actions, voice, etc. may be sensed, transmitted and duplicated in the remote location to bring affect to the desired action".


So let's follow the prophetic sequence of events.


At midpoint, the antichrist commits the Abomination of Desolation, by desecrating the Holy of Holies with something that renders it ritually unclean. (Daniel 9:24-27) What exactly is the desecrating agent? II Thessalonians would seemingly say that that it is the antichrist.


But an image is definitely set up according to Revelation, an image that must be worshiped on penalty of death.


Which is why Jesus (after telling His Jewish audience in Matthew that they would be persecuted after the occurrence of a true world war) tells them what to watch for as the sign that the worst persecution, prophesied in Zechariah as a persecution that would obliterate 2/3 of the Jewish population, was upon them. He tells them,

Quote :

“Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes." (Matthew 24:15-18)

Did you ever wonder why there is such urgency attached to that pronouncement? You have to have all the pieces to the puzzle. 
The piece we need was in Revelation:

Quote :

"He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed." (Revelation 13:14-15)

The image could both speak, and cause those who did not worship it to be killed.
I don't know exactly what that means, and neither do you. 


But isn't it interesting that technology is making possible an "image" that your senses will apparently perceive as real.


And that that image will be able to interact (including, apparently an ability to assassinate) those in remote locations by "using the user's position, movements, actions, voice, etc.,transmitted and duplicated in the remote location, to bring affect the desired action.


An image that can issue the command and then exact the penalty for disobedience immediately. All over the world.


Sounds an awful lot like Scripture to me.

Part of what's enabling this science are 'polymer [plastics] reflectors', and biomimetrics.

I added a vid to the 'fake snow' thread today that sure looks like 'polymer' beads falling from the sky.
Add in the reflective quality and do we have a replacement now for the aluminum in chems? But if so, why?

Self-organized polymer aggregates with a biomimetic hierarchical structure and its superhydrophobic effect:

Nature always gives us inspirations to fabricate functional materials by mimicking the structure design of biomaterials. In this article, we report that polymeric aggregates with morphology similar to the papilla on lotus leaf can be self-organized in the polymer solution by adding 16 wt% water into 5 mg/ml polycarbonate solution in N,N'-dimethylformamide. The hierarchically structured aggregates at micro- and nano-scale alone show superhydrophobic effect without the need of modification with low surface energy compound. Small amount of liquid can be wrapped by the aggregates to form the so-called liquid marble. Influence of the amount of water added into the solution on the morphology of resultant polymer aggregates was investigated. By using the hierarchical aggregates as the surface building blocks, superhydrophobic coating with a static water contact angle larger than 160 degrees and sliding angle less than 5 degrees (for a water drop of 5 microl) was formed. Other solutions, like acid, basic and blood plasma are also repelled on the coating.

That repelling has got to be the good news.  We can't be force-ably teleported yet.
