One month after a deadly train derailment in Washington State killed three people, America’s crumbling infrastructure was on display again Monday when a DC Metro train derailed in a tunnel in downtown Washington DC.
The city's Metro rail system said in a tweet that the derailment happened around 6:40 am Monday.

Washington DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Doug Buchanan told the Associated Press that about an hour after the derailment "we have no reported injuries at the moment." The Metro said the accident didn't start a fire. The derailment occurred on Track 1 between Farragut North and Metro Center.

The rail system's tweet says the Red Line train that derailed was carrying 60 passengers and that the derailment happened outside the Farragut North station.
The tweet also said there were no reported injuries.

Oddly, a former Haitian government official set to expose the Clinton Foundation's misdeeds in Haiti shot himself in the head a week before he was able to testify. Klaus Eberwein, was found dead in a Miami Dade motel room in what examiners ruled a suicide.

The Saturday story over at ABC News was titled "Primal Fear As People Across Hawaii Get False Alarm Of Imminent Missile Attack" while the new story over at The Atlantic was even more appropriately titled "False Alarms Of The Apocalypse". And while both stories summed up 'the mood' and atmospheric panic which come about during a disturbance such as a false alarm of a nuclear missile inbound, we can't help but feel we may be witnessing something even more sinister playing out.
Unknown to most, back on January 3rd of 2017, emergency warning sirens mistakenly went off all across the island of Oahu at approximately 8:07 a.m. according to Mel Kaku, the director of the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management. Called then an “inadvertent activation in the course of preparing for today’s scheduled test”, we find it very interesting that just over one year later, 8:07 a.m. was once again the time a 'huge mistake' was made in Hawaii, this one triggering panic and horror.
As we see alluded to in the tweet screenshot below from 'Nick Short', was the same person working the shift within Hawaii's department of emergency management back in 2017 who also made the mistake heard around the world on January 13th of 2018? And is the 8:07 a.m. time that both of these mistakes were made somehow significant or just a freakish coincidence?
According to videographer Lionel from Lionel Nation as heard in the 1st video below, what happened in Hawaii on Saturday was a BETA test to gauge realtime citizen panic. Yet as we learn within this story, the state of Hawaii and particularly the island of Kauai are the cerebral cortex for all military and defense technology for the entire Pacific, southeast Asia, Korea and China and therefore, a huge potential military target.
We also take a look below at this new story from the Organic Prepper which Steve Quayle linked to on his website this morning titled "Why (And How) EVERYONE Should Make a Survival Shelter Plan (+ Printable Checklist)" within which they report "the false alarm in Hawaii yesterday should be an enormous wake-up call. It should inspire everyone, everywhere to make a survival shelter plan."

While one headline story over at the Drudge Report Saturday screamed "38 Minutes of Terror" after the 'inexcusable mistake' made by a public official in Hawaii led to a countless number of people into believing they were spending their last few moments upon the Earth, the pictures and videos emerging from the island show the Hawaiian people totally unprepared, with storm drains turned into makeshift bomb shelters, for an event that we all pray never comes.
And while this alert was finally declared a false alarm nearly 3/4 of an hour after the initial emergency message went out to every cell phone on the island as seen in the next screenshot below, 2018's 'great ICBM scare' has left a mark upon every person in Hawaii who had to live through it with one 'survivor' thanking his Christian faith for helping him through it. In fact we've seen in numerous stories that this event brought about prayers and talk of God and religion in what some people believed were about to be their final moments as shared in this one account from this Zero Hedge story.:
[size=13]California resident Elizabeth Fong is in Hawaii looking to buy a house and received the alert. She said she didn't receive a correction alert, stating it was a false alarm, until 8:46 a.m.
The aftermath of the false alert was "crazy," she told NBC Bay Area, and prompted people to run around on the streets "crying and screaming," wondering what to do.
"I prayed to God and asked for forgiveness of my sins and for Him to protect us," she said, adding that people are still shaken up.
Andy Thammavongsa, who tweeted a screenshot of his phone that showed the time between each alert, lives in Ewa Beach and told NBC in a Twitter message, "Everyone was panicking, the whole island was awake and alert."
He added that "there's nothing really you can do honestly" if the alert were real, saying there's "nowhere to take shelter, the island is only so big."
While Hawaii's Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard took to twitter to blame President Trump for the fiasco, claiming that Trump isn't taking the North Korean nuclear threat seriously enough to begin direct talks with North Korea to 'de-escalate' and 'denuclearize' Kim Jong Un and his 'hermit kingdom', does anybody really believe that Kim is going to just give up his nuclear weapons, now that NKorea has declared themselves a full nuclear state?
As we've reported on ANP time and again, due to policies from past administrations and their hands off approach to North Korea with their policies of appeasement, President Trump has been left in a very real 'Catch 22' situation with even one former Clinton advisor claiming that the fact that North Korea now has nukes isn't President Trump's fault.
And while we agree with Gabbard's calls for peace as we see in her Saturday tweet below several hours after the disastrous 'wrong button mistake', as we learn in this entry over at Wikipedia, the people of Hawaii have already been through a massive attack as back on December 7th of 1941 at 7:48 a.m., the Japanese attack upon Pearl Harbor began, another early morning scare that might help to explain why so many felt so powerless at such a critical moment in time.
In this new story by Daisy Luther over at the Organic Prepper she reports that while fingers were being pointed at the person who hit the wrong button on Saturday, instantly sending most of the population into a state of hysteria, the overall responsibility is upon us ourselves. As she reported, hardly anyone had a plan for where they would take shelter. This despite the fact that Hawaii has been emphasizing preparation for a North Korean nuclear attack for several months now.
Yet if we're waiting for the government to come and save us, Hawaii proves we'll be waiting for a very, very long time. While White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters claimed "it was purely a state exercise”, the response given by one state representative in Hawaii echoes arguments by preppers that the government isn't coming to save us.
Scott Saiki, the House speaker, said the system Hawaii residents have been told to rely on failed miserably.
He also took emergency management officials to task for taking 30 minutes to issue a correction, prolonging panic. “[size=16]Clearly, government agencies are not prepared and lack the capacity to deal with emergency situations,” he said in a statement.
While the website Pravda reported back in September of 2016 that the government of Russia had built enough underground bomb shelters to protect 100% of the residents of the city of Moscow, as this June of 2017 story from the NY Post reports, there is plenty of evidence that the only people who'll be protected should nuclear war hit US soil are the 'deep state politicians' who helped to create the mess that the world is in.
As Journalist Garrett Graff reports in his 60-year history of the government’s secret Doomsday plans to survive nuclear war in his book called “Raven Rock: The Story of the U.S. Government’s Secret Plan to Save Itself — While the Rest of Us Die”, if you really believe that our government has the American people's best intentions in mind, they've totally fooled you.
Yet as we've previously reported on ANP, even North Korea has bomb shelters for their people. As this August of 2017 story from the Daily Mail reported, North Korea has 18 miles worth of the world's deepest underground metro system that just happen to double as a nuclear bomb fallout shelter, meaning most of Pyongyang's residents could use it in the event of a nuclear war.
With each train station there named after the Korean revolution including Comrade, Red Star, Glory, Liberation, Signal Fire, Rehabilitation, Victory, Paradise, and Restoration, the Daily Mail story also reports that many of the people of Pyongyang do not fear war with the US or a nuclear attack because of these shelters, certainly much less than we witnessed in Hawaii on Saturday.
While thankfully, though there was one massive mistake on Saturday in Hawaii, it was only a mistake and hopefully lessons will be learned from it yet as this new story from the NY Times which the Drudge Report linked to on Sunday reports, "Hawaii False Alarm Hints At Fine Line Between Mishap And Nuclear War". With the state of Hawaii only a 20-minute ICMB flight away from Kim Jong Un and North Korea and the world on edge, 'next time' may not turn out so well.
With what is being called 'significant activity' recently being spotted at North Korea's nuclear testing site indicating another test may be forthcoming according to this new story from American Military News, experts warn that the 'catch 22 situation' that President Trump has been cornered into may still play out militarily within the next few months, especially with mysterious submarine activity taking place off of the coast of Hawaii in recent months.

As defense secretary, Donald Rumsfeld used to entertain (and befuddle) reporters with his song-and-dance about Known Knowns, Known Unknowns, and Unknown Unknowns. This last category—“things we don’t know we don’t know,” as the inimitable Rummy put it—was the one that could really get you in trouble.
Allow me to posit a similar taxonomy for news. There’s Real News, based on fact and responsibly reported. Then there’s Fake News, made up of stuff propagated by disreputable outlets ranging from the National Enquirer and Breitbart to cable news networks and a bazillion websites. And finally there’s Real News That Gets Ignored. Once again, it’s that last category that will eventually land us in trouble.
A distinctive characteristic of the Trump era finds Fake News displacing Real News as the basis of what passes for our national conversation. This stems in part from the fact that Donald Trump himself obsessively denounces as fake any reporting he doesn’t like, with those in the news business repeating and thereby amplifying the president’s complaints no matter how bizarre or preposterous. But it’s also because Trump and his administration on a daily basis generate their own counter-narrative of news that they insist is genuine even though it’s manifestly bogus. The media landscape is thus awash in reports that one side or the other loudly condemns as fraudulent.
With all this emphasis on Fake News, the third category of our taxonomy has mushroomed. That is, the quantity of Real News that is underreported, shrugged off, or treated as an afterthought is increasing by leaps and bounds.
I was reminded of this the other day when the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) released its latest update on how U.S. nation-building efforts in that country are faring.
This particular report focuses on a Defense Department-created entity called the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations (TFBSO), charged with overseeing U.S. taxpayer-funded economic development projects in Afghanistan. From 2010 to 2014, Congress appropriated approximately $823 million to fund TFBSO operations in Afghanistan. SIGAR now provides what is, in effect, a report card.
Among its key findings regarding TFBSO’s performance are these:
More than 50 percent of funds obligated for TFBSO—$359.5 million of $675 million—were spent on indirect and support costs—that is, on overhead—rather than on actual projects in Afghanistan.
Only $70 million of the $316.3 million obligated on contracts directly supporting TFBSO programs (22 percent) fully achieved their objectives. The remaining $246.3 million (78 percent) fell partially short or failed altogether.
Nearly half of the TFBSO contracts that SIGAR reviewed, worth $201 million, were let on a limited competition or sole-source basis, thereby increasing the risk of waste. Seven contracts worth $35.1 million went to firms employing former TFBSO staff as senior executives.
Further hampering the prospects of success was the fact that TFBSO projects routinely overlooked local conditions such as politics, culture, weather, and security, i.e., all the things that distinguish Afghanistan from Wisconsin or Vermont.
Ill-defined contract requirements prevented TFBSO from holding contractors accountable for poor performance, resulting in further waste.
Overall, the Pentagon is today unable to say whether TFBSO projects actually created jobs, facilitated foreign direct investments, increased exports, or hiked Afghan government revenues. In other words, no basis exists for determining whether TFBSO actually contributed anything useful.
Now, SIGAR has been releasing reports about waste, fraud, and abuse in the Afghanistan War for years. TFBSO’s abysmal performance, now irrefutable, is just the tip of the iceberg.
Notably, all SIGAR reports, including this latest one, are readily available online. There is no need for reporters to cajole some unnamed source into spilling the beans or for editors to worry about courting trouble by publishing leaked classified material. It’s all there for the New York Times, Washington Post, PBS, NPR, etc., etc., to bring to the attention of the public. Yet these prestigious outlets never seem able to spare much attention for TFBSO’s troubles.
We should not be surprised. As it stumbles from one year to the next, the wayward U.S. project in Afghanistan receives sporadic media coverage at best. Even when some tidbit of awfulness attracts an occasional nod—when we learn, for example, that Afghan opium production has today reached yet another all-time high—the story ends up being a one-day affair, with no serious follow-up. Afghanistan, the longest war in American history, is a prime example of Real News That Gets Ignored.
There are many other examples. Staying in the arena of national security policy, other neglected stories include foreign arms sales (here the U.S. is truly the world’s number one), the global disposition of U.S. forces (now present in two-thirds of the world’s countries), cost overruns of major weapons programs, and the ongoing trillion-dollar modernization of the U.S. nuclear arsenal.
Let me emphasize: It’s not that you can’t find the odd reference to such matters, whether in your local newspaper or on TV. But compare the coverage such stories receive to the extravagant attention conferred on women graduating from the U.S. Army’s Ranger School or the service eligibility of transgendered persons. No doubt those are worthy topics. Yet at the end of the day they are unlikely to have anything more than marginal relevance to the safety and security of the United States.
The Real News That Gets Ignored poses a greater threat to the nation’s well-being than any of the Fake News in which we are presently drowning. And the fault is not Trump’s alone.

Several neighbors and former patients of Dr. Clive Bridgham, of East Providence, Rhode Island, who police say was murdered, described him as a competent and caring chiropractor who treated them with respect.
Police Chief Christopher Parella said Friday that the 67-year-old Bridgham was “founded murdered in his house” Thursday night, but declined to provide additional details.
On Saturday, a police detail waved visitors away from Bridgham’s house at 160 Pleasant St., which is set back on a long dirt driveway next to Bridgham Farm, an open field popular with dog walkers that leads to the Turner Reservoir.
Few neighbors knew Bridgham, an avid skier and surfer who had an office in Barrington. Debra Jamrug of Pleasant Street had nothing but nice things to say about Bridgham, who was her landlord.
“I’m in complete shock,” she said. “He was a very gracious landlord — very pleasant and understanding. He told me that he retired in October due to health reasons.”
Bridgham voluntarily suspended his license on Sept. 9, according to Joseph Wendelken, a spokesman for the Department of Health. This came after Bridgham “began a therapeutic relationship” in spring 2016 with a patient. The patient complained that the doctor had violated the boundaries of a patient-physician relationship during sessions, according to paperwork filed when the doctor surrendered his license.
In 2003, the state had ordered Bridgham to undergo evaluation from the Professional Renewal Center in Kansas after he had sex with one of his patients.
According to a consent order from 2003, Bridgham was treating siblings at his practice. One of the siblings died, causing the other to become depressed.
We do not condone this behavior at all, but are surprised how many chiropractors end up dating their patients, some of them even openly.
“The respondent became close to the remaining sibling and continued to provide chiropractic care,” according to the document. “The Respondent invited this patient to the Newport Creamery and later to his home where they engaged in sexual contact.”
On Bridgham’s Facebook page, Samantha Rose Alden described him as “one of the nicest human beings I have had the pleasure of meeting.”
“I’ll never forget the lessons he taught me while under his employment and I’ll never forget the smile every single one of his patients left the office wearing … ” she wrote.
Another Facebook poster, Chris Jastram, said Bridgham taught him about surfing and the rock band Green Day.
“He was always a mentor … ” Jastram wrote. “A good man who helped my soul on its journey through life … May your soul rest in peace, Dr. Clive Bridgham, till you wish to surf again the blue waters.”
Bridgham was a past president of the Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island. He was selected by the Rio Olympic Sports Medicine Committee to assist the health services team during the 2016 Summer Games.
DOJ Unseals Indictment Involving Uranium One Scandal

The Department of Justice unsealed an 11-count indictment on Friday to a former DoD intelligence analyst-turned uranium transportation executive who stands accused of a bribery and money laundering scheme involving a Russian nuclear official connected to the Uranium One deal. The indictment corroborates a November report by The Hill that an FBI mole deeply embedded in the Russian uranium industry had gathered extensive evidence of the scheme. Mark Lambert, 54, of Mount Airy, Maryland, was charged with one count of conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and to commit wire fraud, seven counts of violating the FCPA, two counts of wire fraud and one count of international promotion money laundering.
The charges stem from an alleged scheme to bribe Vadim Mikerin, a Russian official at JSC Techsnabexport (TENEX), a subsidiary of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation and the sole supplier and exporter of Russian Federation uranium and uranium enrichment services to nuclear power companies worldwide, in order to secure contracts with TENEX.

While the indictment lists Lambert’s company as “Transportation Corporation A,” a simple search reveals that Lambert is the co-President of DAHER-TLI, “the leading front end freight forwarding company dedicated to Nuclear Cargo,” according to its website.
In 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission sent a letter to Lambert with findings that TLI had exported plutonium “in excess of the maximum quantity and type applied for and licensed,” and “exported Australian obligated material, which was not authorized under license conditions.” Prior to his 26 year tenure in the transportation industry – 20 of which have been with TLI, Mr. Lambert was an Arabic Linguist for the Navy for five years, and a Senior Intel Analyst for the Department of Defense (DoD) for three years.
Lambert also speaks fluent Arabic and Farsi (Persian), along with French and Italian.
The indictment against Lambert corroborates prior reporting by The Hillthat an FBI mole buried deep within the Russian nuclear industry had gathered extensive evidence of a scheme involving bribes and kickbacks between Russian nuclear officials and TLI – which would have transported the U.S. uranium sold to Russia in the ’20 percent’ Uranium One deal.

Based on what the FBI knew – including evidence which purportedly includes a video of Russians preparing briefcases of bribe money – the Uranium One deal never should have gone through. Moreover, both Robert Mueller and current deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein were directly involved – and current Attorney General Jeff Sessions and other Justice Department officials appear to be covering for them. In short, the FBI had ample evidence of the Russian bribery plot before the Obama administration approved the Uranium One deal thanks to their embedded mole in the Russian nuclear industry. The informant – outed as energy consultant William Campbell – was “threatened” by Obama admin AG Loretta Lynch to keep quiet with an iron-clad gag order, according to his attorney – former Reagan Justice Dept. official and former Chief Counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee Victoria Toensing. After Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-VA) demanded Campbell be allowed to testify in front of Congress, the gag order was lifted. Attorney General Jeff Sessions originally tried to claim that there was no connection between Uranium One and the nuclear transport bribery case, however several congressional republicans pushed back:

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a similar rebuke last week to Rosenstein, saying the deputy attorney general’s first response to the committee “largely missed the point” of the congressional investigations. “The essential question is whether the Obama Justice Department provided notice of the criminal activity of certain officials before the CFIUS approval of the Uranium One deal and other government decisions that enabled the Russians to trade nuclear materials in the U.S,” Grassley scolded.”
Meanwhile, journalists John Solomon and journalist Sara Carter claim to have copies of the FBI informant’s evidence, while Carter issued an explosive report in late November laying out the players, the timeline, and the evidence at hand. “By the time the sale of Uranium One was approved by the Obama Administration, the FBI’s investigators had already gathered substantial evidence and the bureau was also aware of Russia’s intentions to enter the U.S. energy market and its desire to purchase a stake in American uranium,” Carter writes. FBI mole William Campbell was a highly valued FBI asset – paid $51,000 by FBI officials at a celebration dinner in Chrystal City, VA, where Campbell’s attorney says they thanked him for his service.
Campbell was required by the Russians, under threat, to launder large sums of money – which allowed the FBI to uncover a massive Russian “nuclear money laundering apparatus”
Campbell collected over 5,000 documents and briefs over a six year period
Campbell uncovered a Russian plot to penetrate the Obama administration and gain approval for the Uranium One sale, including a 2010 email which describes “Russia’s intent on expanding its Uranium expansion in the United States.”
“This is not just about bribery and kickbacks but about a U.S. company that was transporting yellow-cake for the Russians with our approval,” an unnamed U.S. Intelligence official told Carter, adding “This should raise serious questions. At the time everyone was concerned about Russia’s ties to Iran, we still are. And of course, Russia’s intentions and reach into the U.S. energy market.” Given Friday’s unsealed indictment, however it looks like the DOJ may have changed their tune on Campbell. If so, perhaps that “briefcase full of bribe money” video will finally see the light of day. An American scientist who has seen the North Korean nuclear secrets claims Kim Jong-un is not bluffing and that the White House should be concerned. Dr Sig Hecker, who was once in charge of designing nuclear weapons for the US, was shown around the hermit kingdom seven times and each time was given access to confidential information. The doctor, who the North Koreans knew would feed the information back to his bosses in America, held plutonium extracted at a secret complex in Yongbyon. Combined with the country's massive stock of uranium, it is estimated Kim Jong-un's army has between 30 and 60 nuclear weapons at its disposal, according to Hecker. Experts now believe Pyongyang has a better understanding of Washington than the other way around, which could be a stumbling block for Donald Trump.

Hecker told CBS: 'I was immensely surprised by how much they showed me and with the openness with which they showed and explained that to me.' He had been director of the Los Alamos National Laboratory - more commonly known as the birthplace of the American atomic bomb - for 11 years. In 2004, he was invited for his first tour of Yongbyon, and he has returned six times since. It was here he was given North Korean plutonium to hold - a heavy, radioactive metal encased in a glass jar. The moment Hecker physically testified to the isolated nation's nuclear might, the balance in Washington shifted. 'It changed from one of "we don't know exactly what they have, if they have enough to make anything" to the fact that they actually could have four to six bombs,' he said. The complex continues to be monitored by satellites orbiting above the country, and 14 years later it is thought the number of weapons has increased by at least five-fold. Expert Robert Carlin, who has been studying North Korea for four decades, told CBS: 'I think they understand us better than we understand them. We're still weighed down with a lot of stereotypes and they're going to trip us up.'

Combined with the country's massive stock of uranium, it's believed Kim Jong-un's army has between 30 and 60 nuclear weapons at its disposal, according to Hecker When Hecker returned in 2010, he was invited into a different part of the nuclear base where 2,000 modern centrifuges were lined up. It is thought they were manifesting uranium, ready to be used for another type of chemical bomb. By now, the building which Hecker was given access to has doubled in size meaning it could be holding up to 10,000 centrifuges, according to director of the Institute for Science and International Security David Albright. Given the rate of development, he estimates North Korea has 13 to 30 nuclear weapons. Hecker believes this figure could be as high as 60, and that more worrying was the fact that they could be built as small disco-ball-type bombs, capable of being fitted to a missile. Although the technology isn't yet there to merge the two, the expert doesn't think the hermit kingdom is too far away . He told CBS: 'They're going to get there, you know, that's, that's one thing you can count on. 'We've tried to sanction them into submission. They've not submitted. They just keep testing and keep evolving.'

President Trump’s December Executive Order on “Serious Human Rights Abuse or Corruption” is a major way Trump is turning the tables on the people trying to take him down. Shipp says, “Donald Trump, very wisely, starts out calling it a ‘threat to U.S. national security.’” That one term brings in the U.S. military, the U.S. intelligence agencies, domestic law enforcement, and the whole U.S. law enforcement into enforcing these laws. The amazing thing about the Executive Order is now it extends to foreign persons, foreign organizations and even foreign government officials. So, this is a national security threat, which means it includes anyone inside the United States or outside the United States.” Shipp also says this is the biggest deep state coup attempt since JFK. Shipp also says that it’s important to differentiate between the shadow government and the deep state. “I differentiate between the ‘Deep State’ and the shadow government. The shadow government are the secret intelligence agencies that have such power and secrecy that they act even without the knowledge of Congress,” Shipp says. “There are many things that they do with impunity. Then there is the ‘Deep State,’ which is the military industrial complex, all of the industrial corporations and their lobbyists, and they have all the money, power, and greed that give all the money to the Senators and Congressmen. So, they are connected, but they are really two different entities. It is the shadow government . . . specifically, the CIA, that is going after Donald Trump. It is terrified that some of its dealings are going to be exposed. If they are, it could jeopardize the entire organization.” But there is some silver lining in all of this.
