The Fukushima clean-up team remains in the dark about the exact locations of 600 tons of melted radioactive fuel from three devastated nuclear reactors, the chief of decommissioning told the ABC’s Foreign Correspondent program in an exclusive interview.

The company hopes to locate and start removing the missing fuel from 2021, the Tokyo Electric Power Company's (TEPCO) chief of decommissioning at Fukushima, Naohiro Masuda, revealed.

The fuel extraction technology is yet to be elaborated upon, he added.

9:40 PM - 12 Mar 2016

Following the tsunami-caused 2011 meltdown at Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant uranium fuel of three power generating reactors gained critical temperature and burnt through the respective reactor pressure vessels, concentrating somewhere on the lower levels of the station currently filled with water.

The melted nuclear fuel from Reactor 1 poured out completely, estimated 30 to 50 percent of fuel from Reactor 2 and 3 remained in the active zone, Masuda said.

The official estimates that  approximately “200 tons of [nuclear fuel] debris lies within each unit," which makes in total about 600 tons of melted fuel mixed up with metal construction elements, concrete and whatever else was down there.

Five years after the Fukushima tragedy, the exact location of the highly radioactive “runaway” fuel remains mystery for TEPCO. The absolutely uncontrollable fission of the melted nuclear fuel assemblies continue somewhere under the remains of the station.

“It's important to find it as soon as possible,” acknowledged Masuda, admitting that Japan does not yet possess the technology to extract the melted uranium fuel.

“Once we can find out the condition of the melted fuel and identify its location, I believe we can develop the necessary tools to retrieve it,” Masuda said.

[ltr]Bad news for bots: Fukushima cleanup robots overpowered by radiation (VIDEOS) http://on.rt.com/76re [/ltr]

9:30 AM - 13 Mar 2016

TEPCO’s inability to locate the melted fuel could be explained by huge levels of radiation near the melted reactor shells. It is so high that even custom-built robots sent there to get information about the current state of affairs there get disabled by the tremendous radioactivity flux. Human presence in the area is understandably out of the question.

The company’s decommission plan for Fukushima nuclear power plant implies a 30-40 year period before the consequences of the meltdown are fully eliminated. Yet experts doubt the present state of technology is sufficient to deal with the unprecedented technical task.

“Nobody really knows where the fuel is at this point and this fuel is still very radioactive and will be for a long time,” the former head of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Gregory Jaczko, told Foreign Correspondent.

“It may be possible that we're never able to remove the fuel. You may just have to wind up leaving it there and somehow entomb it as it is,” said Jaczko, who headed the USNRC at the time of the Fukushima disaster.

Melted uranium fuel and tons and tons of highly radioactive water aren’t the only issues troubling TEPCO’s clean-up team at Fukushima. There are also some 10 million plastic bags full of contaminated soil concentrated in gigantic waste dumps scattered around the devastated nuclear facility.

The Japanese prime minister at the time of the Fukushima disaster, Naoto Kan, told the ABC that Japan’s government is already paying TEPCO US$70 billion to enable the company to do the decommission works at Fukushima.

“But that is not enough. It will probably cost more than $240 billion. I think 40 years [to decommission the plant] is an optimistic view,” Kan said.

Spike in number of US sailors dying after Fukushima radiation exposure — Now over 400 veterans suffering serious illnesses — Former Japan Prime Minister breaks down crying, “This can’t be ignored any longer… The number of sick people is increasing and their symptoms are worsening” (VIDEOS)

Kyodo, May 19, 2016: Former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has thrown his support behind a group of former U.S. sailors suing the operator of the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant… Speaking at a news conference Tuesday in Carlsbad, California, with some of the plaintiffs, Koizumi said, “Those who gave their all to assist Japan are now suffering from serious illness… I learned that the number of sick people is still increasing, and their symptoms are worsening,” he told the news conference… According to lawyers for the group, seven of its members have died so far, including some from leukemia [Three deaths had been reported as of last
July].

Asahi Shimbun, May 19, 2016: Former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi broke down in tears as he made an emotional plea of support for U.S. Navy sailors beset by health problems… More than 400 veterans who were part of a mission called Operation Tomodachi… filed a mass lawsuit in California against [TEPCO]. They are seeking compensation and an explanation for theirhealth problems… Koizumi said:

“U.S. military personnel who did their utmost in providing relief are now suffering from serious illnesses. We cannot ignore the situation.” Apparently overcome with emotion, Koizumi started crying… Theodore Holcomb [was] diagnosed with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He died in 2014 at age 35.

TheDepartment of Veterans Affairs later cut off a study into the causal relationship between his exposure to radiation and his illness… Ron Wright, 26, worked on the deck [and] developed a swelling of the testicles and underwent surgery four times… A military doctor told him there was no relationship between his illness and exposure to radiation.

CBS San Diego, May 18, 2016: Sick sailors meet with Japan’s former prime minister… The USS Reagan sailed through a nuclear plume and crews had to spend hours decontaminating the vessel. Sailors now say they are suffering from radiation exposure. “Honestly, I just want to feel better,” said Chad Holt, who served on the USS Ronald Reagan… “A lot of people, they can’t physically see something wrong with you. They think there is nothing wrong with you. That is not the case what we are living with on a daily basis,” said Daniel Hair, who is now retired from the Navy… “I realized this is something that can’t be skipped over, can’t be ignored any longer. The three claims of being safe, cheap and clean were all lies,” [Koizumi] said.

NBC San Diego, May 18, 2016: Many of the sailors say doctors refused to connect their illnesses with the radiation exposure. “You have to experience it,” said William Zeller. “You have to experience the doctor telling you to your face. You have to experience the years of pain when everyone tells you ‘You know you’re fine.’”… “I realize this is not something that can be just skipped over and can’t be ignored any longer,” [Koizumi] said. “Everyone played a role in not shedding more light on this problem…” Koizumi said… The sailors’ attorney said they have won their case against Tokyo Electric Power Company twice, however the company has appealed the judge’s decisions. It is still unclear how exactly the sailors will be compensated…

San Diego Union Tribune, May 17, 2016: Koizumi [said] he believes the service members’ illnesses, reported to include leukemia and tumors, were caused by the 2011 exposure, despite U.S. government findings to the contrary… Koizumi said the Japanese government and [TEPCO] should support the radiation-exposed U.S troops financially and “across the board.”

Melted fuel may be at the bottom of No.2 reactor
http://enenews.com/intensely-radioact...

NHK has learned it is highly likely that a large amount of melted nuclear fuel remains at the bottom of one of the damaged reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
Experts from Tokyo Electric Power Company and other institutions confirmed a large black shadow at the bottom of the No.2 reactor, using a device that uses elementary particles called muons.
The probe to see into the reactor's interior has been conducted with the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization and others.
The analyses of the image led the experts to believe that most of the melted fuel is likely located at the bottom of the reactor together with other structures in the reactor.
This is the first time that an image of what's believed to be molten fuel has been captured. Similar shadows are said to have been confirmed also on the walls of the reactor.
The results of the probe have a considerable impact on a process to remove melted fuel, the most difficult part of reactor decommissioning.
TEPCO is conducting further analyses of the reactor.
During the accident in 2011, nuclear fuel melted down in the plant's 3 reactors. Most of the fuel in the No.1 reactor is believed to have melted through the core. But the locations of the fuel in the No.2 and 3 reactors are not yet known.

TEPCO chief apologizes to shareholders for cover-up

The president of Tokyo Electric Power Company has apologized to shareholders for concealing reactor meltdowns at its Fukushima Daiichi plant in 2011.
The utility did not officially admit to the meltdowns until more than 2 months after the accident, which was caused by a massive earthquake and tsunami.
The firm's investigative panel revealed earlier this month that the then-president had instructed officials not to use the words "core meltdown."
Incumbent president Naomi Hirose on Tuesday spoke before about 1,200 people at the annual shareholders meeting in Tokyo.
He said he takes the results of the investigative panel seriously and thorough measures will be taken to prevent recurrences. They include performing drills to improve the effectiveness of emergency notification, and strengthening information-sharing.
Shareholders submitted 10 proposals to be taken up at the meeting. They include an early restart of offline nuclear reactors to lower electricity bills, and the abolition of the nuclear power business out of concerns of accidents.
A shareholder said that since the firm's nuclear reactors are undergoing safety screenings by the regulator, it would be safe to switch them back on.
Another said the firm's attitude regarding compensation toward Fukushima and the restart of nuclear reactors are showing no signs of improvement.

Trial cattle farming starts in Fukushima's Naraha

Cattle farming has restarted on a trial basis in a town near the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
After the 2011 nuclear accident, evacuation orders were issued for most parts of Naraha Town. All of the 40 or so cattle breeders in the area suspended their business or gave it up.
The evacuation order for the town was lifted last September. The town's government decided on test breeding to pave the way for reviving its livestock industry.
Shuko Watanabe took on the task from the town. Four female calves were delivered to his farm on Wednesday. He led them into the cattle shed and gave them fodder.
The test will continue until the end of this year to confirm its safety. Town officials say they hope farmers will resume full operation in January.
About 9,000 dollars are needed to purchase one calf. The town provides subsidies, but famers must shoulder about half of the cost.
And it takes at least 2 years to ship the cattle, meaning no revenues during the period.
Watanabe said he is happy to be able to keep cattle once again, adding that he'll work hard even though he must restart from scratch.

Hospital: Fukushima radiation may be eating holes in people’s brains — Report: Military brought in to hide true radiation levels — Experts: Officials covering up dire consequences of crisis… Worry over high number of cancers being detected — Public suffering radioactive-related diseases (VIDEO)

El País Semanal (Spanish newspaper), May 2, 2016 (emphasis added): Fukushima:

Contaminated lives… Spanish media investigates how the 2011 Japanese tsunami changed the course of the country’s history… the Fukushima nuclear plant started to leak radiation that seeped insidiously into the atmosphere, the soil and the Pacific Ocean… Mr Toru Anzai, 63, wanders around the house he abandoned five years ago [in] Litate… Two years ago, he had a heart attack and a stroke… in the hospital they found a hole in the frontal lobe of his brain that was producing paralysis down the left side of his body. The doctor said it could have been caused by absorbing cesium over a period of time… [After the reactor explosion on] March 14, he heard a thunderous noise… It didn’t take long for the wind to bring the penetrating smell of melted iron mixed with sulfur to Litate as a massive toxic cloud blew towards his home. In spite of the mayor of Litate’s assurance that there was no risk of radiation, Mr Anzai bought his first dosimeter on April 18… the radiation in the room where he and his brothers had been sleeping for the past month was at six microSieverts an hour – 20 times higher than the level stipulated by the government for relocating residents…

Xinhua, May 23, 2016: Five years on, Fukushima remains shrouded in untold stories… Some of them suffer from radioactive-related diseases, and some are seeking help but having nobody to turn to. [Since] the Chernobyl nuclear disaster…

various investigations and commemorations have never ceased… Yet on the Fukushima nuclear disaster, probes have always been wrapped in an ominous cloak for the past five years… However, concealing the truth will not lead people’s memory to oblivion, but arouse anger… One focal point is the local children’s poor health, especially thyroid cancer…

The International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, a global organization, sent a message to the Japanese government this January expressing worry over the high incidence of thyroid cancer…

Xinhua, May 23, 2016: A 2015 research found that children living near the Fukushima nuclear facilities are significantly up to 50 times more likely to develop thyroid cancer compared to those children living elsewhere in Japan. Data on radiation levels collected by Japanese volunteers near the Daiichi nuclear power plant is 8 to 10 times higher than the official number… Questions over the Fukushima aftermath have never ceased to pop up… Japan is concerned with its national image, food security, tourism, nuclear policy, medical compensation and possibility of public lawsuits…

[none] of them should be the country’s excuse for preventing the post-disaster situation from being known to the public…

Xinhua, May 23, 2016: Children near Fukushima more likely to suffer from thyroid cancer… More than 160 teenagers in Fukushima Prefecture had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, including suspect cases… The Fukushima prefectural government doubted the cases were related to the nuclear disaster… Somenuclear experts were surprised by the Japanese government’s irresponsible and indifferent attitude.

Xinhua, May 23, 2016: Truths deliberately covered about Fukushima surface over five years — Facts about the Fukushima nuclear disaster… kept emerging over the past five years after the mishap took place, revealing the real face of the disaster. In front of the local government of Iidate Village in Japan’s Fukushima Prefecture [a device reads] 0.38 microsieverts/hour… However, volunteer Yoichi Tao who majored in physics said the figure of radiation on their own device is 8 to 10 times of the official one. According to Tao, the government dispatched the military to wipe out the nearby nuclear radiation on the ground in advance, so the official figure looks very low. “That’s how the government did it,” he said…

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 SurvivalMD2-1

Xinhua, May 24, 2016: The improper handling of the Fukushima aftermath by the Japanese government has had grave consequences… a Russian radiation expert has said… Japan followed the suit of the former Soviet Union in playing down the disastrous consequences, said Valery Stepanenko, a leading specialist in medical and environmental dosimetry and radiation safety… the Japanese government attempted to hide the truth… After the disaster, lies and contradictive information emerged, making it impossible to decide the level of exposure…  ”data of internal exposure were still left out,” he said…

The consequence is dire…more than 160 teenagers in Fukushima Prefecture have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, including suspect cases…(source)

‘99% effective’ Fukushima ice wall fails to seal off crippled nuclear plant

https://www.rt.com/news/356559-fukushima-ice-wall-fail/

“The plan to block groundwater with a frozen wall of earth is failing,”said Yoshinori Kitsutaka, a panel member and a professor of engineering at Tokyo Metropolitan University.

Commentary and Analysis
by
L. A. Marzulli

The Fukushima disaster is an ongoing event, that for the most part, has been largely ignored by our press. They have bigger issues to report on, like Bruce Jenner’s sex change, or the latest off-color-politically-incorrect-remark from The Donald.

Meanwhile, Fukushima continues to send contaminated water—radioactive water—into the Pacific ocean.

As the article above states, the ice wall isn’t working and what I keep thinking—what haunts my dreams at night—is what  happens when another earthquake strikes the already crippled reactors, sitting on the east coast of Japan? Will the whole mess go sliding into the sea?

As I reported, on the 5 year anniversary of the disaster, the fuel rods containing the nuclear material from reactor 4, have gone missing. They have burned through the containment shell. No one knows where they are. Isn’t that reassuring…

http://fukushima-diary.com

Are they burning their way to the center of the earth? (Heads up Arnie Sacknoussen)

Is the Pacific Ocean becoming more contaminated? (Don’t eat the sushi)

This is a global-crisis and it’s being ignored.

I bet most millennials have no idea of what happened at Fukushima and why should they care as long as they can go out and play Pokemon-live.

So here’s the take-a-way for me. Fukushima is one of many events that are happening at the same time and taken together these events add up to The Days of Chaos.

The ongoing Syrian civil war in the Middle East.

The influx of Muslim refugees in Europe.

The coming collapse of the US Petro-dollar.

More saber-rattling from our pal, Kim Jong Un, in North Korea.

The threat of a super volcano erupting.

The spread of the Zika virus.

The deep social unrest in the US.

The complete collapse of Venezuela.

The drug cartels on our southern border.

ISIS on our Southern border.

The rise of radical Islam …. everywhere.

The Russians moving 40k troops with heavy equipment to their border with The Ukraine.

and on and on it goes.

Days of Chaos anyone? Jesus stated what the world would look like before His return: There will be wars and rumors of war, earthquakes in diverse places, famines and pestilence, men fainting from fear from what is coming on the earth.

TV: “Astronomical amounts of radiation” found in downtown Tokyo… Directly outside gov’t building — ‘Horrific’ readings where kids playing in Fukushima, ‘extreme’ levels found where food is grown for elementary school lunches — Nuclear expert shocked, upset by discovery (VIDEO)

Published: August 22nd, 2016 at 12:10 pm ET

CCTV (Channel 17 in Burlington, Vermont), published Jun 20, 2016 (emphasis added):

  • Margaret Harrington, host: I know you mentioned Arnie Gundersen, the chief engineer at Fairewinds, and he said that he measured the radiation there, too. Could you talk about that a little bit?
  • Maggie Gundersen, Fairewinds Energy Education founder and CEO: He’s working with some other scientists who are studying — both Japanese scientists, the samples that they took, and the US scientists who are evaluating the samples — and they’re findingastronomical amounts of radiation, even in downtown Tokyo outside of METI’s door. METI is the regulatory agency over nuclear power… When he and others were downtown in Tokyo, they took samples right there in a garden right outside the door and on the front doormat, and these are really, really high samples. Frightening, because people walking in Tokyo will then be inhaling that dust. What was the film we saw from Japan that had the mothers who were in an area where kids play and run from middle school?
  • Caroline Phillips, Fairewinds Energy Education: It’s a fantastic video… it’s a mothers organization, they live in the Fukushima Prefecture and they’re actually using Geiger counters that have been issued by the government. They’re walking along the river [in Fukushima City.]
  • Maggie Gundersen: What’s so tragic about it – kids are running along dirt paths doing gym class and track and things like that and the mothers are right down in areas that are not posted and the kids can go after school and play, and people do nature hikes and stuff. And the radiation readings are horrific.Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 MIn_Economy-250x202

Gendai Business Online (article in Japanese here), Jun 14, 2016: [J]ust before the 5th anniversary of the triple meltdown at Fukushima Daiichi, a group of young girls in the city of Minami-Soma rode their bikes to school past a shocked and saddened pedestrian. That upset observer was Arnie Gundersen, nuclear reactor expert… “What surprised me at this visit to Japan… is that the decontaminated area is contaminated again,” Mr. Gundersen said while explaining why it was such as sad shock to witness the girls on their bicycles. “This was not what I had expected. I had thought that we would not find such high doses of radiation in the decontaminated area. But, sadly, our results prove otherwise.”… Gundersen collected samples of dust [though] the official data cannot be released before the publication of formal scientific papers, it is evident that high doses of radiation, usually found in nuclear waste, was detected from these samples. “This means thathighly radioactive dust is flying around the city. In other words, the decontaminated land is contaminated again. Little girls are affected by the radiation 20 times as much as adult men. The Japanese government’s standard of 20 mSv is based on exposure assessments for adult men. The girls on their bicycles are actually being affected by a radiation dose equivalent to as much as 400 mSv.” Mr. Gundersen also pointed out that human lungs are heavily affected by internal exposures to radiation. “At this visit, I wore a radiation proof mask that can filter out 99.98% of radiation for six hours. I sent my filter to the lab, and they found a high dose of Cesium. But, unfortunately, the Japanese government only cares about the number on a Geiger counter and does not consider the internal exposure. This has resulted in a hazardous downplay of this kind of data and human lungs are affected by the serious internal exposure.”… [T]he radiation from the mountains are coming back to the city by way of wind and rain. Mr. Gundersen noted the extreme radioactive contamination of the mountains… vegetables grown in that area exceed the government’s standard by 1500 Bq. These vegetables were sold at the MichinoEki in Tochigi prefecture, and the bamboo shoot grown in this contaminated region was used for elementary school lunches in Utsunomiya. These school lunches contained more than twice as much radiation as the government’s standard… However, the government continues to push for the end of people’s relocation and force the return to recontaminated areas… Mr. Gundersen also found that Tokyo remains contaminated. He measured dust… and found a high dose of radiation. That dust is in the air that will be inhaled by the visitors and athletes of the 2020 Olympic Games. Needless to say, the current residents are inhaling it every day…

Dramatic video has captured a meteorite burning across the sky just hours after a huge 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Japan sending a tsunami cascading inland and up a river.

The footage shows a flaming object trailing across the evening sky while the country was still assessing the damage from the tremor.
Alarms rang out in towns across Fukushima prefecture - where the 2011 earthquake wreaked havoc - and further along Japan's eastern coastline.

Around an hour later, a tsunami flowed inland and up the Suna'oshi River in Tagajo - a city devastated in the 2011 earthquake - almost bursting its banks.

Video taken by a 16-year-old known as Asuka then showed a mysterious burning light crossing the night sky.

28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 Screen%2BShot%2B2016-11-04%2Bat%2B15.29.22

The map below comes from the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center. It shows that radiation levels at radiation monitoring stations all over the country are elevated. As you will notice, this is particularly true along the west coast of the United States. Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean. That means that the total amount of radioactive material released from Fukushima is constantly increasing, and it is steadily building up in our food chain.

Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin. They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless innocent people will develop cancer and other health problems as a result of exposure to high levels of nuclear radiation. We are talking about a nuclear disaster that is absolutely unprecedented, and it is constantly getting worse. The following are 28 signs that the west coast of North America is being absolutely fried with nuclear radiation from Fukushima...

1. Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering from fur loss and open sores...

Quote :
Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.
Quote :
The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had "alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions," the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.
2. There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline...
Quote :
At island rookeries off the Southern California coast, 45 percent of the pups born in June have died, said Sharon Melin, a wildlife biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service based in Seattle. Normally, less than one-third of the pups would die.   It's gotten so bad in the past two weeks that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an "unusual mortality event."

3. Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low.  Many are blaming Fukushima.

4. Something is causing fish all along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.

5. A vast field of radioactive debris from Fukushima that is approximately the size of California has crossed the Pacific Ocean and is starting to collide with the west coast.

6. It is being projected that the radioactivity of coastal waters off the U.S. west coast could double over the next five to six years.

7. Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

8. One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

9. Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found in a very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada...

• 73 percent of mackerel tested
• 91 percent of the halibut
• 92 percent of the sardines
• 93 percent of the tuna and eel
• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies
• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish
10. Canadian authorities are finding extremely high levels of nuclear radiation in certain fish samples...

Quote :
Some fish samples tested to date have had very high levels of radiation: one sea bass sample collected in July, for example, had 1,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium.

11. Some experts believe that we could see very high levels of cancer along the west coast just from people eating contaminated fish...

Quote :
"Look at what's going on now: They're dumping huge amounts of radioactivity into the ocean — no one expected that in 2011," Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear policy lecturer at the University of California-Santa Cruz, told Global Security Newswire. "We could have large numbers of cancer from ingestion of fish."

12. BBC News recently reported that radiation levels around Fukushima are "18 times higher" than previously believed.

13. An EU-funded study concluded that Fukushima released up to 210 quadrillion becquerels of cesium-137 into the atmosphere.

14. Atmospheric radiation from Fukushima reached the west coast of the United States within a few days back in 2011.

15. At this point, 300 tons of contaminated water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

16. A senior researcher of marine chemistry at the Japan Meteorological Agency's Meteorological Research Institute says that "30 billion becquerels of radioactive cesium and 30 billion becquerels of radioactive strontium" are being released into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

17. According to Tepco, a total of somewhere between 20 trillion and 40 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium have gotten into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima disaster first began.

18. According to a professor at Tokyo University, 3 gigabecquerels of cesium-137 are flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every single day.

19. It has been estimated that up to 100 times as much nuclear radiation has been released into the ocean from Fukushima than was released during the entire Chernobyl disaster.

20. One recent study concluded that a very large plume of cesium-137 from the Fukushima disaster will start flowing into U.S. coastal waters early next year...

Kyodo News, Jan 30, 2017 (emphasis added): Possible nuclear fuel debris sighted under damaged Fukushima reactor… [Tepco] found beneath the plant’s No. 2 reactor what could be nuclear fuel… [Tepco] found a black mass on a grating structure just beneath the containment vessel…

Kyodo News, Jan 30, 2017: [A] robot will be deployed [to] better understand where

the nuclear fuel debris is located

Kyodo News, Jan 30, 2017: The actual condition of the melted fuel has remained unknown… [Images] showed black mass and deposits… accumulating inside the outer primary containment vessel. If the deposits are fuel debris, it means fuel melted through the pressure vessel, a container that is supposed to hold the fuel. The interior of the primary containment vessel appears to be substantially different from its original state, indicating the harsh conditions… In some areas, the substance had accumulated a few centimeters thick to form a chunk or to clog the grid squares. Some parts of the grating were distorted or no longer there, possibly melted in the heat during the accident.

Japan Times, Jan 30, 2017: Nuclear fuel debris possibly found below reactor at Fukushima No. 1; Black lumps that could be melted nuclear fuel are visible Monday at the bottom of reactor No. 2′s containment vessel at the Fukushima No. 1 power plant — Tepco on Monday found what may be melted nuclear fuel debris inside reactor 2 at the Fukushima No. 1 plant… “At this point, it’s difficult to clearly identify what they are,” said Yuichi Okamura, general manager of Tepco’s nuclear power and plant siting division, during an evening news conference… [Footage] showed black lumps that looked like something that had melted and then congealed, sticking to parts of a steel grating area at the base of the containment vessel.

Jiji Press, Jan 30, 2017: [Tepco] found a form of sediment under the No. 2 reactor of its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant…

Reuters, Jan 30, 2017: [TEPCO] has failed to establish the location of the melted fuel rods in the other three damaged reactors at the plant. The utility has been developing robots that can swim under water and negotiate obstacles in damaged tunnels and piping to search for the melted fuel rods. But as soon as the robots get close to the reactors, the radiation destroys their wiring and renders them useless.

RT, Jan 30, 2017: Japan’s TEPCO finds possible nuclear fuel debris… The substance is so toxic that even specially-made robots designed to probe the underwater depths beneath the power plant crumble and shut down…

Guardian, Jan 30, 2017: [Tepco said] a remote camera appeared to have found the debris beneath the badly damaged No 2 reactor, where radiation levels remain dangerously high.

Bloomberg, Jan 29, 2017: [T]he search has barely begun for fuel that burned through to the bottom of the reactors.

Record radiation level detected inside damaged Fukushima reactor

TOKYO —

A record radiation level has been detected inside the No. 2 reactor at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear complex, with the estimated reading of up to 530 sieverts per hour, the plant operator said Thursday.

The reading means a person could die from even brief exposure, highlighting the difficulties ahead as the government and Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc. grope their way toward dismantling all three reactors that melted down in the March 2011 nuclear disaster.

The plant operator also announced that based on an image analysis, a 1-square-meter hole has been found on a metal grating beneath the reactor pressure vessel, likely caused by melted nuclear fuel that fell through the vessel.

The new radiation level, described by some experts as “unimaginable,” far exceeds 73 sieverts per hour, the previously highest radiation reading monitored in the interior of the reactor.

An official of the National Institute of Radiological Sciences said medical professionals have never considered dealing with this level of radiation in their work.

According to TEPCO, the extremely high radiation level was detected inside the containment vessel, in the space around 2.3 meters away from the base of the reactor pressure vessel.

According to the institute, 4 sieverts of radiation exposure would kill one in two people.

Experts say 1,000 millisieverts, which equals 1 sievert, could lead to infertility, loss of hair and cataracts, while exposure to radiation doses above 100 millisieverts increases the risk of cancer.

The latest discovery spells difficulty in removing the fuel debris as part of decommissioning work at the plant. The government and TEPCO hope to locate the fuel and start removing it from a first reactor in 2021.

The debris is believed to have been created as nuclear fuel inside the reactor pressure vessel overheated and melted due to the loss of reactor cooling functions.

In the coming weeks, the plant operator plans to deploy a remote-controlled robot to check conditions inside the containment vessel, but the utility is likely to have to change its plan.

For one thing, it will have to reconsider the route the robot is to take to probe the interior because of the hole found on the grating.

Also, given the extraordinary level of radiation inside the containment vessel, the robot would only be able to operate for less than two hours before it is destroyed.

That is because the robot is designed to withstand exposure to a total of up to 1,000 sieverts of radiation. Based on the calculation of 73 sieverts per hour, the robot could have operated for more than 10 hours, but 530 sieverts per hour means the robot would be rendered inoperable in less than two hours.

The latest analysis follows TEPCO’s discovery Monday of a black mass deposited on the grating directly beneath the pressure vessel, possibly melted fuel after the unit suffered a meltdown along with two other reactors at the six-reactor plant.

Images captured using a camera attached to a telescopic arm on Monday also showed part of the grating has gone.

If the deposits are confirmed as fuel debris, it would be the first time the utility has found any at the three units that suffered meltdowns.

Following the world’s worst nuclear disaster since the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe, the plant’s No. 1 to 3 reactors suffered fuel meltdowns.

Portions of the fuel in the reactors are believed to have accumulated at the bottom of the containment vessels. But the actual condition of the melted fuel remains unknown due to high radiation levels.

Nearly 6 Year Long MSM 'Blackout' Comes Crashing Down In 'Radioactive Truth' - Why Has The MSM Covered Up Fukushima For So Long And Is It Part Of The Globalists Depopulation Agenda?

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 Fuku_death_still_here

By Stefan Stanford - All News Pipeline - Live Free Or Die

We first want to thank Fox News for FINALLY reporting on a subject that has been highly censored by the mainstream media for the past 5+ years, the situation in Fukushima, Japan is completely out of control. While Fox News recently reported that radiation levels at Fukushima were now at 'unimaginable levels' more than 5 years after the disastrous earthquake and tsunami struck, as Steve Quayle asked in an SQNote he left while linking to that story, why has the mainstream media been silent all of this time?

We've long believed that 'reality' has a way of 'awakening' everybody and the stories recently coming across the wire over at ENENews have been mind-numbing the last few weeks to say the least. You can hear the Fox News report on Fukushima in the 1st video below while in the 2nd video, Mike Adams over at Natural News gives us a new update on the 'Fukushima radiation apocalypse' that has been steadily spewing poisons into our atmosphere for almost 6 years now with hardly a peep from the MSM.

In the most recent stories from ENENews, on February 5th they reported the heartbreaking news that a record high number of whale deaths had recently been reported surrounding the Hawaiian Islands with the sick and starving animals allegedly a 'mystery' to experts. Reporting that rotting carcasses were scattered throughout the islands, how can so-called experts NOT know that Fukushima poisons flowing into our oceans for years are most likely to blame?

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 What_radiation

As Adams tells us in his video, the sustainability of all life throughout the Northern hemisphere is in danger and the entire MSM up until now has been in a complete blackout mode except for this recent reports. Do CNN, MSNBC and the rest of them think that if they DON'T report upon Fukushima, what's happening to the fish and our oceans is 'fake news'? Do they think that because we can't actually SEE the radiation, it's not really there? The MSM's failure to report upon Fukushima may be the final straw that not only breaks the camel's back but puts that camel out of our misery.

For the past several years, we've reported horror story after horror story of sea life dying all across the Pacific Ocean and up and down the entire West coast, from Alaska to California. Also documented in great detail over the past several years by ENENews, with mass animal deaths all across the world being kept track of by End Times Prophecy, it's clear that the mainstream media has completely failed the American public on Fukushima.

Another recent story over at ENENews reports on Fox News' sudden admission that Fukushima is out of control, highlighting a few phrases used by Fox in their report that shows just how completely out of touch the MSM has been with reality over the past 5+ years. Their story also brings to light :

Fox News, Feb 8, 2017 (emphasis added): Adam Housley, who reported from the area in 2011 following the catastrophic triple-meltdown, said this morning that new fuel leaks have been discovered… He said that critics, including the U.S. military in 2011, have long questioned whether Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) and officials have been providing accurate information on the severity of the radiation… He added that critics are now questioning whether the radiation has been this severe all along.

Fox News video transcript excerpts, Feb 8, 2017: “Experts believe melted fuel is leaking inside the plant almost daily… No one knew [in 2011] of the growing threat which today only continues to get worse… Wow, this is a crazy story… What some people are saying is, ‘ Has it been this bad since the beginning?’”

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 Runaway_train_comment

Quite surprisingly after all of their years of silence, the Washington Post actually finally reported on Fukushima on February 8th in a story in which they asked: "Could the radiation level be even higher? Possibly. The 530 sievert reading was recorded some distance from the melted fuel, so in reality it could be 10 times higher than recorded" said Hideyuki Ban, co-director of Citizens’ Nuclear Information Center.

Imagine that... ten times higher than the 'unimaginable levels' already detected. Is this why the MSM is finally reporting upon Fukushima? As a commenter on the Washington Post story wisely mentions, we're watching a run-a-way train speeding completely out of control and experts have admitted, there is really no way to stop it... and least not in the next several decades.

Devastating to our oceans and therefore our food chain, we read in the new SQAlert seen below that most Americans are completely clueless to what is happening to the Pacific Ocean and up and down the West Coast of America.

READERS RESPONSE TO FUKUSHIMA, AND IT'S DAILY AND DEADLY EFFECTS, IN TRYING TO GET HIS FRIENDS TO CONSIDER THE RAMIFICATIONS TO THEM!

Regarding this forever-lied-about Fukushima tonnage released daily, the problem is two-fold--- 1) only a small (yet growing) number of dumbed-down, Facebook and Twitter-absorbed, McDonald's food-engorging people are even AWARE.....yes, after five years.....of how serious Fukushima is. It is because the mainstream media doesn't breathe a word about it. 2) the second issue is RAMPANT APATHY, RESIGNATION, AND DENIAL. I sent the bleak and depressing coast-of-Chile sardine kill photos to friends everywhere and not even ONE (we are talking about people your age and mine....about 65....highly successful and intelligent) wrote me back with perhaps a query as to whether it MUST BE radiation from Fukushima or if it MIGHT HOPEFULLY BE El Ninoalgae "red bloom" choking off oxygen.

ONLY A HANDFULL....REALLY CARE. THE WORD I AM LOOKING FOR IS FATALISM. DAVID C. (MY RESPONSE - SQ DENIAL UNTO DESTRUCTION - FATALISM USUALLY DEALS WITH FUTILITY AND HELPLESSNESS TO AN OVERWHELMING EVENT OR DISASTER -THIS IS THE WILLING ABANDONMENT, OF REASON AND PERCEPTION - NICE WAY OF DISMISSING YOU AND THE SERIOUS NATURE OF THE INFORMATION YOU SENT THEM! -- THEIR ATTITUDE IS FORGET ABOUT IT - MY ADVICE TO YOU FORGET ABOUT THEM UNLESS THE LORD TELLS YOU DIFFERENTLY)

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 Dying_animals_a_mystery

And the ignorance of the American people in itself is the work of the MSM, neglecting to report upon what could be the most important health story in America and the northern hemisphere today - a story that up until now, has flown completely under the MSM radar. So why would the MSM 'black out' Fukushima for nearly 6 years and why are they suddenly reporting upon what's happening there now?

In the new story from Mike Adams over at Natural News he reports "there are times when I’m convinced humanity is a suicidal cult of complete idiots whose only real achievement is figuring out increasingly obscene ways to distract themselves from reality." Adams points out that while most of the nation was fixated on the Super Bowl and Lady Gaga, the Fukushima disaster got much worse...and the MSM remained silent.

In the new story from Ethan Huff over at Outbreak.News he reports that according to one liberal college professor, the world will be much better off without 90% of the population. Professor Eric Pianka from the University of Texas claims the Earth is way overdue for a massive die-off. And with much of the left thinking murdering babies is ok, as is 'expressing their love through violence upon those who don't think like they do', might Fukushima be the 'ultimate depopulation weapon', intentionally unleashed upon 'the West', an endless radiological attack upon the Northern hemisphere, one we cannot see nor smell nor taste?

The fact that the mainstream media has seemingly gone out of their way to cover up what has been happening at Fukushima for almost 6 years now gives us a hint that something much more might be at play. And the fact that liberal professors such as Eric Pianka seemingly have a death wish for our society should prove to us what kind of people have gained power over the past decade+, and that have led to snowflakes suffering nuclear meltdowns on US college campuses. From Outbreak.News:

“This is really an exciting time,” Pianka is quoted as saying amid warnings of an apocalyptic future. “Death. This is what awaits us all. Death.”

Pianka’s collective death wish for humanity fits right into the current eugenics plan of limitless abortion, which has become a rallying cry of the political left. Just recently, millions of women marched on Washington, D.C., to demand that they continue having access to abortion clinics where they can murder their unborn babies on a whim — because this is supposedly their right as women.

Such evil is exactly the type of thing that Pianka seems to embrace as good in his distorted worldview. Killing off humans is a good thing in his demented mind, and this message of human destruction is continually being spread to impressionable young men and women attending college who likely never thought they would encounter this toxic message while trying to get an education.

After making his initial statements in front of a diverse crowd at the Texas Academy of Sciences, Pianka was later approached by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after being reported as a potential terrorist.

In the final video below, Alex Jones from Infowars talks with us about Fukushima and the massive mainstream news media blackout and coverup that has been going for 5+ years, comparing what's happening at Fukushima to climate change and global warming while proving to us the MSM has an 'agenda', while asking: "what are they still hiding?"

6 Years Ongoing Fukushima Catastrophe

Japan, Nuclear, Radiation

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 6-years-ongoing-fukushima-catastrophe

Every year at this time, the time to commemorate March 11. 2011, the Tohoku earthquake and the tsunami, and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, all the mainstream media and the websites publish so many articles about the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant present situation. For those like me who followed the Fukushima Daiichi ongoing catastrophe day by day since now 6 years, there is not much that those many articles could really teach us that we do not know already.

At this time of the year I think only about the victims, and keep praying for all the victims, included my daughter, one of the many. For those who already died, for those who are now affected and sick, and all the future victims to come, for all those many lives affected in many ways by the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

Thinking about how the nuclear industry gets away with plain murder, about the callousness and hypocrisy of the Japanese government, and how the victims are still being victimized even now by their government ruthless policies, I feel deep anger.
That anger keeps me going against all odds. Each time when I would like to stop and quit this time consuming daily duty, it keeps me going. Because deep in my heart I know that the Fukushima victims need us more than ever, and also because I would hope that the other people learn from the Fukushima victims misery, so that people everywhere would wake up and become active to help stop everywhere once and for all this death industry, so that the Fukushima people would not have been sacrificed totally in vain.

Never forget, before anything else, the Fukushima catastrophe is a human tragedy, a human tragedy caused by the criminal nuclear industry’s greed and irresponsibility, with the shameless complicity of a government unwilling to protect the life, the health of its people, all in the name of holy economics.

6 years already, and we are just at the beginning of this unresolved still ongoing nuclear catastrophe, the technology to resolve it has not yet been invented.

Expert warns of collapse at Fukushima reactor: “It would be the end of Japan”… New photos show serious structural damage at Unit 2… “It’s a fantasy” that they can decommission plant — AP: Melted fuel has broken pieces of structure in containment vessel (VIDEO)

Published: March 10th, 2017 at 1:44 pm ET
By ENENews

Interview with Dr. Helen Caldicott on Nuclear Hotseat hosted by Libbe HaLevy, Feb 22, 2017 (emphasis added):

  • Dr. Caldicott: “Those incredibly high measurements [of radioactivity recently detected in Fukushima Daiichi's Reactor No. 2 containment vessel] mean, I think almost certainly, that they will never be able to clean it up or decommission it… Talk about decommissioning and cleaning it up in 100 years… I think it’s a fantasy.”
  • Host: “What was also revealed in these new photos is what appears to be a hole in a grate at the bottom of the Unit 2 reactor containment vessel. It’s variously been described as one meter or two meters in diameter. What does that mean?”
  • Dr. Caldicott: … “I spoke to Arnie Gundersen, who’s a nuclear engineer, and he said that the robot did pick up structural damage to the building of Unit 2, which means it makes it unstable should there be another earthquake greater than 7 on the Richter scale — which then means the building could collapse, which then means that would collapse onto the molten core, and also with the spent fuel rods which are incredibly radioactive in the spent fuel pool, they would go down as well. A huge amount of radiation would be released, such that it would be the end of Japan and certainly, very much radioactive fallout in the Northern Hemisphere such that I would probably get my family from Boston to come

straight away to Australia.”

Fukushima - epa change forthcoming - Page 10 600tons

Yomiuri Shimbun, Mar 7, 2017: On the floor under the pressure vessel of the [No. 2] reactor, a large hole was discovered. It is believed to have been created when nuclear fuel fell down.

AP, Mar 2, 2017: A robot sent inside the Unit 2 containment vessel last month could not reach as close to the core area as was hoped for because it was blocked by deposits, believed to be a mixture of melted fuel and broken pieces of structures inside… [TEPCO] needs to know the melted fuel’s exact location as well as structural damage in each of the three wrecked reactors… Earlier probes have suggested worse-than-anticipated challenges… “We should think out of the box so we can examine the bottom of the core and how melted fuel debris spread out,” [TEPCO's Naohiro] Masuda told reporters… [E]xperts are still trying to figure out a way to access the badly damaged Unit 3. TEPCO is struggling with the plant’s decommissioning.

The Fuku details are another subject I don't monitor, just because I don't need any more proof I don't believe in understanding what FU stands for, which the world most certainly is at the hand of this insane catastrophe.

I was scanning to see if we had Radchick here already and saw ref. to "40 yrs to cleanup".  There's a joke!
I know we had something on the robots 'dying' within the reactors or rubble.
And I've just watched a vid on how it is that ALL molecular structure is altered by radiation, including metals, cement, (rubber and plastics ?) and clearly ALL life.

Memory says Chernobyl ( 26 April 1986) was quickly encased in cement, and I think that structure has not degraded (?)(don't know), though a large area is still hot and a 'no go'.

Also it looks like Radchick was hit with a death ray but survived, albeit in a very messed up state.

Anyway.  Here's a long video I think will be very good, and my apologies if we already have it.

Japan to release Fukushima's contaminated water into sea - reports

By Yuka Obayashi and Kaori Kaneko

TOKYO, Oct 16 (Reuters) - Nearly a decade after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, Japan's government has decided to release over one million tonnes of contaminated water into the sea, media reports said on Friday, with a formal announcement expected to be made later this month.

The decision is expected to rankle neighbouring countries like South Korea, which has already stepped up radiation tests of food from Japan, and further devastate the fishing industry in Fukushima that has battled against such a move for years.

The disposal of contaminated water at the Fukushima Daiichi plant has been a longstanding problem for Japan as it proceeds with an decades-long decommissioning project.

Nearly 1.2 million tonnes of contaminated water are currently stored in huge tanks at the facility.

The plant, run by Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc , suffered multiple nuclear meltdowns after a 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

On Friday, Japan's industry minister Hiroshi Kajiyama said no decision had been made on the disposal of the water yet, but the government aims to make one quickly.

"To prevent any delays in the decommissioning process, we need to make a decision quickly," he told a news conference.

He did not give any further details, including a time-frame.

The Asahi newspaper reported that any such release is expected to take at around two years to prepare, as the site's irradiated water first needs to pass through a filtration process before it can be further diluted with seawater and finally released into the ocean.

In 2018, Tokyo Electric apologised after admitting its filtration systems had not removed all dangerous material from the water, collected from the cooling pipes used to keep fuel cores from melting when the plant was crippled.

It has said it plans to remove all radioactive particles from the water except tritium, an isotope of hydrogen that is hard to separate and is considered to be relatively harmless.

It is common practice for nuclear plants around the world to release water that contain traces of tritium into the ocean.

In April, a team sent by the International Atomic Energy Agency to review contaminated water issues at the Fukushima site said the options for water disposal outlined by an advisory committee in Japan - vapour release and discharges to the sea – were both technically feasible. The IAEA said both options were used by operating nuclear plants.

Last week, Japanese fish industry representatives urged the government to not allow the release of contaminated water from the Fukushima plant into the sea, saying it would undo years of work to restore their reputation.

South Korea has retained a ban on imports of seafood from the Fukushima region that was imposed after the nuclear disaster and summoned a senior Japanese embassy official last year to explain how Tokyo planned to deal with the Fukushima water problem.

During Tokyo's bid to host the Olympic Games in 2013, then-prime minister Shinzo Abe told members of the International Olympic Committee that the Fukushima facility was "under control".

The Games have been delayed to 2021 because of the pandemic and some events are due to be held as close as 60 km (35 miles) from the wrecked plant.
