So I guess it might be good to go through the SOHO pictures to see what went by the Sun during these time/dates,
These are the magnetic effects upon the Earths field flux lines as all these seismographs do not do this unless something whizzes by disrupting the magnetic mesh that these heavenly bodies are in. I'll look later when the curiosity stirs a little more.

Two objects, one from left of Sun and one above right come in...
starting with frame:

Lotsa stuff coming through.. past experience.. some do not belong and repeat but have not been here before 2004, you can go way back in SOHO history and see this... but hey don't worry... only one harbors fallen angels.
We get close in Sept.

OOOoo. looky something zipped by ?planet....? right screen see dot next to planet? yes not previous frame or after... almost missed that one. Oh ok here is the previous one look at time stamps:

And the beginning of the incident @
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/REPROCESSING/Completed/2014/c3/20140418/20140418_1342_c3_1024.jpg
couple small intruders next but not the cause..
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/REPROCESSING/Completed/2014/c3/20140418/20140418_1354_c3_1024.jpg
the cause is the planetoid object directly below the Sun, it's small but has horizontal flare, see it?
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/REPROCESSING/Completed/2014/c3/20140418/20140418_1406_c3_1024.jpg
Gone next pic after.. and Sun erupting more, in direction of that object... then we see one of the other intruders that I've sighted many times over the years.. which is the long tailed one above right of Sun.
Next pic we see many more of the objects that orbit the binary twin not included, it is of course farther away.
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/REPROCESSING/Completed/2014/c3/20140418/20140418_1430_c3_1024.jpg
and a few more
http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/data/REPROCESSING/Completed/2014/c3/20140418/20140418_1506_c3_1024.jpg

LOAD IN BROWSER AND DO A CLICK ON SLIDE SHOW SO TO SPEAK AND SEE HERE AND GONE IN UNDER 12 MIN. AND THE EFFECTS FELT LATER. Hang a bunch of magnets in differing strengths from the ceiling so as not to actually touch and then move one, get back to me on what happens ok!
Yeah, they interact. Except the big one in the center blows out some protons when the outsiders come in close... get it?

one of my long time favorites is this site... simple and shows the effect on the magnetosphere / magnopause... and pay attention to the bz chart... fella some time ago discovered the peaks are when the big EQ's happen and can be checked by date/time.

I don't know, brother.  NASA says "SOHO is in orbit between the Earth and the Sun. It is about 150,703,456 kilometers (92 million miles) from the Sun !!!and only about 1,528,483 Kilometers (1 million miles) from the Earth (three times farther than the moon)"
That's a whole lotta space.

The large M flare went off at 1354UTC, April 18, with a significant xray peak.
(The 7.8 eq hit Papua at 3:28(UTC?) Apr 19.)

I think the thing to do is look back through Suspicious Observers sunspot observations for M class potentials and IF it's there, then that is what I would label the "cause" of the flare rather than a passing unidentified body.
IOW, I think the flare would have occurred whether or not any unidentified space object flew somewhere within that 92 million mile distance of space, based on the science of sunspots-cme's alone.

But I can't prove it!  Cool   Except that we have cme's regularly  in the
absence of any passing bodies [meteors, asteroids, etc.]

So, did it add to it? I'd have to dig to even form a guess.
