WASHINGTON - Joint Base Andrews is currently on lockdown due to a report of an active shooter.
According to a Tweet, personnel have been directed to shelter in place. Officials say the incident is happening at the Malcolm Grow Medical Facility and that first responders are on-scene. All personnel are being directed to continue to shelter in place.
Authorities say there was a exercise scheduled for today at the base, however, it is unclear if the report of the active shooter is related to this exercise. FOX News is reporting that the drill scheduled for today did not take place as scheduled.
Public Affairs told FOX 5 “We are reacting to a report of a real world active shooter. The call occurred during an exercise. Because the report came in as a real active shooter we have to respond accordingly. We are treating as if it is and no further information at this time.”
