Major Updates appear throughout the story below, including Confirmed MISSILE LAUNCHES which commenced at 3:50 PM eastern US time.  This story is being LIVE UPDATED as information becomes available.
A trusted source inside Israel is reporting to me that as of 9:30 AM eastern US time Tuesday, the United States, United Kingdom and France are once again deploying fighter jets and Bombers around Syria.
It is __believed__ that this deployment coincides with whatever announcement President Trump intends to make at 2:00 PM today from the White House regarding the Iran nuclear deal.
There is now widespread rumor-mongering and Scuttlebutt in the halls of governments worldwide, that Trump plans to say the Iran nuclear deal is cancelled because Israeli evidence shows Iran LIED throughout the entire process.  Trump is expected to say "A deal based on deliberate lies cannot be an actual deal."
The rumors are that once Trump makes this announcement, a bombing campaign of terrible magnitude will begin by the US, UK and France, targeting all Iranian assets (both regular army troops and proxies) throughout Syria.  The rumors further say the bombing campaign will not cease until ALL Iranian assets are either destroyed or dead.
It is not known what role Russia and its advanced fighters, bombers and anti-aircraft defenses will play in any such action.  If Russia sits by and does nothing, they will look like fools or weaklings.  If Russia steps-up and defends Syria, it means war immediately.
If the rumors and Scuttlebutt are true, today is shaping-up to be quite a day.   Trouble is, I CANNOT CONFIRM the rumors or scuttlebutt.  Repeat: I CANNOT CONFIRM any of this.

President Trump had a phone call with French President Macron at 10:00 EDT today.  Within minutes of that call ending, word began leaking in Europe that Trump is pulling the U.S. out of the Iran nuclear deal.   More leaks claim Trump also plans to impose new economic sanctions upon Iran.

UPDATE 11:21 AM EDT --

I am now able to POSITIVELY CONFIRM very large movements of US, UK and French military assets into the Syria area over the last 24 hours.  Squadrons of US warplanes and advanced surveillance drones have been working around the clock to track the slightest military movements around Syria and along Lebanese Mediterranean shores. In the last few hours Britain transferred another squadron of advanced Typhoon fighter jets to the Middle East, with France adding Rafale and Mirage 2000 jets. Some of these flights reached their forward positions through Israeli air space.
 

UPDATE 11:32 AM EDT --

I can now POSITIVELY CONFIRM multiple B-52's took off from Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean earlier today.  Destination UNKNOWN.
If . . . . and this is total, unconfirmed, speculation . . .  those planes were heading to Syria, the air distance is 3,681 miles to Damascus.  B-52's can fly at slightly over 600 MPH, meaning a flight time of about 6 hours.  The map below lays out the locations:

The standard loadout for the B-52 includes eight AGM-84 Harpoon missiles, four AGM-142 Raptor missiles, 51 500-pound bombs, 30 1,000-pound bombs, 20 AGM-86C conventional air-launched cruise missiles (CALCM), 12 joint stand-off weapons (JSOW), 12 joint direct-attack munitions (JDAM), and 16 wind-corrected munitions.  (Updates continue beneath ad)

Now numerous foreign government sources saying US will pull OUT of Iran deal AND . . . .  U.S. preparing to reinstate all sanctions against Iran which were waived as part of the nuclear deal!    Companies that rushed-in to Iran once Sanctions were lifted, are about to get CRUSHED from today's decision . . . their stocks may not fare well.

IDF chief of staff Lt. Gen. Gady Eisenkot Tuesday called off his public engagements. This was explained by the urgent need for “operational discussions.” He was due to address the annual Herzliya conference Tuesday night.

INTEL: According to my former colleagues in the US Intelligence Community, the Israeli Air Force is UNABLE to operate their version of the F-35 to carry out strikes against Iran itself.  In the event that the Iranian Republican Guard launch a ballistic missile attack upon Tel Aviv, the Israeli government has AUTHORIZED retaliatory launches of Israeli "Jericho III" medium range ballistic missiles, targeting Tehran and, specifically, Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei's residence in Tehran!

Hezbollah has called-up all military reserves in southern Lebanon as a result of today's Israeli jet and missile attack against Iranians inside Syria.  It is widely estimated that Hezbollah has between 35,000 and 50,000 reserve fighters.  The fact they are all being called-up indicates a major confrontation is now in-motion in the Middle East.
 Israel halted all of its attacks against Syria within MINUTES of Russian Air Force jets taking-off from Tartus.

The situation is fluid to say the least, but as far as we can tell this is what has happened tonight so far:

5. AP: The Israeli army says it is investigating and has no further details.
6. IDF report that Iranian Quds force fired 20 rockets towards forward IDF positions on Golan Heights.
7. According to al-Mayadeen (pro-gov) 10 positions of the Israeli Army were shelled with rockets, and several vehicles were targeted with guided missiles.
8. The IDF views this event with great severity and remains prepared for a wide variety of scenarios.
9. Exchanges continue...
10. Israeli jets fire on Damascus; shelling from inside Israel continues.
11. Israeli jets are firing on the headquarters of the Republican Guard.
12. IDF confirms that Israel is launching an attack on targets associated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Syria. Meanwhile, the power has been cut in parts of Damascus.

So it is unclear who started the 'fight' but for now rocket exchanges continue.

Israeli Airstrike In Syria Was "Most Extensive Attack In Decades"

In what is now being described as the "most direct confrontation between Israel and Iran in decades," Israel exchanged fire with Syrian and Iranian forces during a late-night showdown that ended early Thursday morning.
The exchange came days after Israel called up reserve troops to the Golan Heights, the disputed border region.
It also followed by less than two days President Trump's decision to pull the US out of the Iran deal. Trump said Tuesday that the US would swiftly reimpose economic sanctions on Iran that had been lifted following the 2015 agreement.

According to Syrian media, some 28 Israeli aircraft fired around 60 air-to-surface missiles at Syria during the exchange. Iranian lawmakers have denied the IDF's claims that Iranian forces in Syria provoked Israel by firing on their positions in the Golan Heights border area.
Israel also launched roughly 10 surface-to-surface missiles, which struck military targets near Damascus and in Southern Syria, according to the Russian military.

Meanwhile, the IDF says Israel's Iron Dome defense system intercepted 20 rockets launched at Israeli targets by Syrian and Iranian forces based in Syria.
While Israeli has pointed the finger squarely at Iran, the country's bitter rival has denied any involvement.
Mohammad Javad Jamali Nobandegani, a member of Iranian parliament’s national security and foreign policy committee, said Israel’s claim was "a lie," adding that Israel's history of carrying out unprovoked attacks in Syria has been well-documented.

The Israeli officials said the strikes damaged Iranian infrastructure in Syria, according to CNN.

Now that the dust has settled, the timeline of events is becoming more clear: On Wednesday night, Syria's state-run SANA television station reported that Israel fired several missiles at the city of Baath in Quneitra. No casualties were reported.
A short time later, Syrian state-run media reported that while dozens of "hostile" Israeli missiles had been intercepted in Syrian airspace, at least two others had hit an ammunition depot and destroyed a radar site.
Israel and Iran have been waging what the New York Times called a "shadow war" in Syria for months, as Israel has launched dozens of airstrikes, with sometimes deadly results for Syrian and Iranian soldiers.
The damage inflicted on Syrian military and civilian infrastructure is still being evaluated.

The exchange marked the first time that Syrian Army forces have fired directly on Israeli troops, according to Israeli claims. Meanwhile, RTdescribed the Israeli air raid as one of the country's "most extensive attacks in years."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov urged Israel and the US to avoid acts that could lead to a spiraling conflict.
While Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov denounced the exchange as dangerous, saying it would get in the way of a political settlement to end the Syrian conflict.

"The current aggravation between Israel and Iran, their exchange of strikes, is dangerous, as it distracts from the fight against ISIS, against terrorists, hampers the political settlement of the situation in Syria," said Russian deputy foreign minister Mikhail Bogdanov, the state-run RIA Novosti news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin - who met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow yesterday - urged restraint on the part of Israel. Israel notified Russia ahead of the attack.

"The situation, unfortunately, is very acute. I want to hope that we will be able not only to discuss with you, but also to look for solutions that would soften the situation," said Putin.

While observers, including United Nations General Secretary Antonio Guterres, have warned that tensions between Israel and Iran could spark the next world war, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad played down this claims during an interview with a Greek newspaper published Thursday.

Assad told the paper that "wise Russian leadership" would prevent such an event, describing the current conflict as "something more than a cold war, less than a full-blown war." He also took aim at the US, saying the Russians "know that the agenda of the deep state in the United States is to create a conflict."

As of now, it's unclear whether Israel and Iran will escalate the conflict, or whether the tit-for-tat strikes have come to an end. SANA reported that the strikes mark "the start of a new phase of Israeli aggression against Syria," according to Sputnik.
The Golan Heights is widely seen as Israeli-occupied territory after it was taken from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War.
