Authored by Jack Phillips via The Epoch Times, The Old Farmer’s Almanac is forecasting that portions of the United States will see a “snow-verload” during what has been described as a snowy winter.
For instance, it is predicting a “wet and wild” 2019-20 winter in the northeastern U.S.
But overall, it is calling for “shivers, snowflakes … and strong storms” with the “snow-verload” impacting northern states in the Midwest and West. “In the U.S., this winter will be remembered for strong storms bringing a steady roofbeat of heavy rain and sleet, not to mention piles of snow. The 2020 Old Farmer’s Almanac is calling for frequent snow events—from flurries to no fewer than seven big snowstorms from coast to coast, including two in April for the Intermountain region west of the Rockies,” it wrote on its website.

(Watchara Phomicinda/The Orange County Register via AP) Meanwhile, the middle of the country and New England will have “more wet than white” conditions. “Meanwhile, much of the Deep South will be saturated by soakers. As winter rages, the tip of the nice-berg will be Florida, the Gulf Coast, and Texas, which will bask in pleasant weather,” the Almanac said. Temperatures will also plunge “from the Heartland westward to the Pacific and in the Desert Southwest, Pacific Southwest, and Hawaii,” it added. Above-normal temperatures are forecast elsewhere. The cold in those areas will last until Valentine’s Day, or Feb. 14, 2020.

(Steve Apps/Wisconsin State Journal via AP) “This could feel like the never-ending winter, particularly in the Midwest and east to the Ohio Valley and Appalachians, where wintery weather will last well into March and even through the first days of spring,” Almanac editor Janice Stillman said. After that, temperatures will be quite hot across the eastern two-thirds of the country in spring and summer, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said. “In Canada, temperatures will average above normal everywhere except southern British Columbia which will bear the brunt of winter’s chill, with colder-than-average temperatures that include occasional face-freezing frigidity in January and February. Of course, normal-or-better winter temperatures still means cold. It’s winter, after all,” it said.
Farmer’s Almanac Predicting Harsh Winter “Our extended forecast is calling for yet another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country,” Farmers’ Almanac Editor and Philom Peter Geiger said in a press release on Aug. 26. Last year’s prediction called for a long, snowy winter, and it turned out to be correct for much of the United States. The 2019-2020 season, according to forecasters, will be another “wild ride” with heavy snow across much of the country, and they described it as a “polar coaster.”

(AP Photo/David Tulis, File) “The biggest drop—with the most freefalling, frigid temperatures—is forecasted to take hold from the northern Plains into the Great Lakes. The Northeast, including the densely populated corridor running from Washington to Boston, will experience colder-than-normal temperatures for much of the upcoming winter. Only the western third of the country will see near-normal winter temperatures, which means fewer shivers for them,” said the Almanac on its website. Similar to last winter, the coldest outbreak of the forthcoming winter season could arrive during the last week of January and beginning of February, the Almanac said. In late January and early February of 2019, a so-called “polar vortex” hammered much of the United States and brought with it Arctic temperatures. Some areas around the Midwest and Great Lakes had wind chills of minus 40 to 65 degrees below zero. |

| If you all need a picture of something more unusual like the drover or snow shoes etc let me know!
GPS is real handy at night and in Snow cuz you can't see very well .... add some of the LIGHT STICKS TO POCKETS AND A HEAD LAMP FROM CABELAS , BLUE LIGHT FOR RAIN/SNOW.. AND GREEN IS BETTER AT NORMAL NIGHT CONDITIONS THAN RED... but if ya get one from "Them" it will surely have White, Green, Blue & Red! 3 AAA batteries.. we love ours and we use re-chargeable's.
Water proof back pack with Folding Solar Panel inside with provisions, batteries, knife, hatchet, soap and first aid kit is looking good about now too. Think about these for a while... mighty handy anytime just add the snow shoes for winter and other cold weather items + food!
About Cabela's... we have 5 hunting jackets 2 pants insulated all items water proof always, as well as 2 hunting backpacks also water proof they all perform very very well and both packs are stocked with the same items, food, water, fishing stuff, knife, hatchet, toothpaste, ivory soap, wash and hand towel, GPS, Scanner, heat blanket, socks, pants, heavy shirt long sleeve, LONG JOHNS, Solo-stove w/pot, tea & coffee tubes from star-bucks and pack oat meal into them, Binoculars, multi-tool & more!! water filters!!, one pump to fill bladders 'n' pots and straw for mouth.
The world is headed to .. not harsh... but HARSHEST ENVIRONMENT.. shouldn't you prepare? just a little? For loved ones too? Love is the most important thing as Jesus said! |

| Look... many years Rough Camping... Jeeps (NO FIRE PIT OR GRILL, NO TABLE, NO CAMP GROUND TOILET +, Atv's, no off road, just relaxing.. Since I was 9! We have camped in snow storms of 20's in Canvas Tents, good bags and a fire... I've seen hand lotion freeze and some other weird things but we've always had a great time because we went prepared for Mountain Weather which is very unpredictable.. snow and hail in July! Unfortunately This Year, I just am not ready to go camping yet... the operation put a big dent in strength and stamina so just loading and unloading the Argo (which is easy, normally).. has tired me out just by itself no gear other than that in the back-end... no small loaded trailers, just main one, hitching and the load. I usually start Camping in March and run through Nov! 0 camping today! Only two day outings with the Argo. I thrive in wilderness, get grumpy if there is too long of break... (usually a week) and I have to go prospecting also. For those that have seen the ATV trailers.. they are ready to go at all times, just load on main trailer, two of them and one ATV in Truck and one on main trailer. Only one ATV trailer is required to go camping, every essential is in the "Camp" trailer. They are only 31" x 5' and I even get 3 100 watt 30 amp solar panels on the bottom and storage battery on the front, wood stove, and two personal boxes with coats and two cots and pads + stove and coleman fuel or propane depending on stove taken. Any small trail anywhere.. and with that Argo we could go fishing.. haven't yet but hopeful to soon. Ok enough blab... See y'all tomorrow! |
