Japan Fukushima tsunami alert after Pacific earthquake map
Japan has issued a tsunami advisory for the Fukushima area - where the crippled nuclear plant is located - after a powerful quake in the Pacific Ocean.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said a small tsunami - up to one metre (3.3ft) - could reach the eastern coast, but no damage was expected.
Japanese TV later said a weak 30cm tsunami had reached the coast.
The 7.1 magnitude quake struck at a depth of 10km (six miles), about 320km off Japan's eastern coast.
The US Geological Survey said it was a 7.3 magnitude earthquake.
The JMA issued a "yellow" advisory for Fukushima and also the prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi, Ibaraki and parts of Chiba, saying tsunami waves could reach 0.2-1m.
"Tsunamis are expected to arrive imminently," it said.
But it added: "Though there may be slight sea-level change in coastal regions, no tsunami damage is expected."
The earthquake struck at about 02:10 local time on Saturday (17:10 GMT Friday).

TEPCO claims nothing's wrong but there's over an hour 'missing' on the camera logs. There's clearly a fuel fire and open air fission occurring at the moment.
Looks like they have the burners cranked up as well to avoid a hydrogen explosion, otherwise its time for "Puff the Magic Dragon" again.
Given the fact that its basically a swamp now because of the subterranean 'wall' and all of the rain, on top of all the water they're pumping into buildings that leak, another large or series of quakes could bring liquefaction as discussed in the other thread.

Two things, oddly RSOE EDIS reported 7.5 & if you remember the 9.0 was actually preceded by a 7.something. The date is significant as well.
