(NaturalNews) U.S. Army virologists working at USAMRIID (U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases) [1] confirmed in 1990 that a strain of Ebola was airborne and could spread through air ducts, resembling the contagiousness of the flu.

Details of the airborne transmission and the "nuking" of all the primates in an entire research center are detailed beginning on page 273 of The Hot Zone by Richard Preston, a non-fiction documentary book based on dozens of detailed interviews with top military virologists. This non-fiction book was called "A riveting nonfiction thriller" by the New York Times.

The book is described by Internet Scientific Publications [2] as follows:

In 1989, Reston, VA -- one of the most famous U.S. planned communities located about 10 miles from Washington DC -- stood at the epicenter of a potential biological disaster. This well-known story was narrated by Richard Preston in a bone chilling account related to the recognition and containment of a devastating tropical filovirus at a monkey facility -- the Reston Primate Quarantine Unit.

The outbreak of Ebola Reston, and its documenting in The Hot Zone is also described in a USA Today article entitled "25 years ago, a different Ebola outbreak - in USA." [3]

In a wild attempt at revisionist history, the Obama administration is today telling us that Ebola can't be airborne; that it can't spread via contaminated surfaces; and that we are all in no real danger from it. The testimony of these U.S. Army virologists from 1990 tells a very different story of what happened with a strain of Ebola that was named "Reston" because it got out of control in Reston, Virginia and was barely contained. The threat from any strain of Ebola, we are told, concerns how rapidly it can mutate and adapt to new hosts while becoming airborne.

To eliminate any possibility of being accused of perpetrating a hoax or misquoting the scientists, I have included un-altered photographs of the relevant pages from the printed book below. The book is also available for sale on Amazon.com and you can purchase it and read it for yourself.

What you are about to read is real. Bolding emphasis added.

Cited from "The Hot Zone" by Richard Preston, beginning on page 272 of the soft cover print edition...

"Ebola... jumped quickly from room to room... a lot like influenza"
What happened in that building was a kind of experiment. Now they would see what Ebola could do naturally in a population of monkeys living in a confined space, in a kind of city, as it were.

The Ebola Reston virus jumped quickly from room to room, and as it blossomed in the monkeys, it seemed to mutate spontaneously into something that looked quite a lot like influenza. But it was an Ebola flu.

The monkeys died with great quantities of clear mucus and green mucus running from their noses, mixed with blood that would not clot. Their lungs were destroyed, rotten and swimming with Ebola virus. They had pneumonia. When a single animal with a nosebleed showed up in a room, generally 80 percent of the animals died in that room shortly afterward. The virus was extraordinarily contagious in monkeys.

"...could look like the flu... a different strain could appear in a month's time... drifted through the air-handling ducts"
The Institute scientists suspected that they were seeing a mutant strain of Ebola, something new and a little different from what they had seen just a month before, in December, when the Army had nuked the monkey house. It was frightening -- it was as if Ebola could change its character fast -- and could look like the flu. As if a different strain could appear in a month's time.

The clinical symptoms of the disease served as a reminder of the fact that Ebola is related to certain kinds of flu-like illnesses seen in human children. It seems that the virus could adapt quickly to new hosts, and that it could change its character spontaneously and rapidly as it entered a new population.

Ebola apparently drifted through the building's air-handling ducts. By January 24, it had entered Room B, and monkeys in that room started going into shock and dying with runny noses, red eyes, and masklike expressions on their faces. In the following weeks, the infection entered rooms I, F, E, and D, and the animals in these rooms virtually all died.

"USAMRIID concluded that Ebola can spread through the air"
John Coleus certainly caught the virus when he cut himself with a bloody scalpel, no question about that. What is more worrisome is that the others did NOT cut themselves, yet the virus still entered their bloodstreams. It got there somehow. Most likely it entered their blood through contact with the lungs. It infected them through the air.

When it became apparently to the Army researchers that three of the four men who became infected had not cut themselves, just about everyone at USAMRIID concluded that Ebola can spread through the air.

Don't believe the Ebola lies of the Obama administration. A strain of Ebola was already airborne 14 years ago. It could rapidly become airborne again. Prepare now with the free, downloadable MP3 audio files at www.BioDefense.com

A soft form of medial martial law has begun in this country. The administration is aligning its forces, revocation of due process and civil liberties is strongly being hinted at and we will not have to wait much longer for nature to take its course.
President Obama refuses to close the borders to possible bioterrorism involving Ebola and possible terrorists crossing our southern border. Obama also refuses to close American airports to travelers from West Africa, despite the fact that over 30 nations have done exactly that. However, with regard to a newly announced Obama policy, the President certainly has no problem swat-teaming American citizens suspected of having the deadly virus.
According to the Associated Press, President Obama has announced that the CDC will respond in a “much more aggressive way” to cases of Ebola in the United States.  The President has ordered the CDC to institute “rapid response teams”.  When we combine this directive with what we are seeing in HHS and DHS documents regarding “isolation” camps, it is very difficult to not conclude that Americans suspected of Ebola and those with exposure to Ebola are soon going to swat-teamed by the CDC. More confirmation on this development comes from CNN as they are reporting that the U.S. military is forming a 30-person “quick strike team” equipped to provide direct treatment to Ebola patients inside the United States, a Defense Department official told CNN on Sunday. Has anyone considered the fact that America might not need a 30 “brown shirted” set of  response teams, if the President had closed the airports to West African travelers. Does it really take an entire platoon to isolate an Ebola victim, or is there something else  going on?
Obama is so concerned about the spread of Ebola that his administration just issued 2,100 visas to Ebola hot zones.
The definition of personal liberty is called martial law, and that is precisely what we are seeing with regard to the CDC swat teams. As a footnote to either the AP and the CNN story, there was no mention of patient rights, due process or anything remotely connected to personal autonomy and freedom. Yet, it is this President’s policy which allowed Thomas Duncan to travel, unabated from Liberia to the United States with Ebola and infect other Americans with the deadly virus.
EBOLA THREAD: Please copy your "General Discussion" postings here too - Page 4 Aclu-ndaa-300x168Does anyone else really think that this practice is going to be confined to the narrow window of only rounding up “suspected” Ebola patients? When we consider the over-arching implications of the NDAAit is prudent to be suspicious of this President’s every move, especially when the topic centers around loss of personal liberty and freedom. If you are unfamiliar with the NDAA and its un-American provisions related to unconstitutional detainment, you may want to review the ACLU’s review of the NDAA. When I find myself agreeing with the ACLU, on anything, especially on the pitfalls of the NDAA, it is noteworthy.

Conclusion

The dots are manifesting faster than anyone can connect them. There is a now a clear direction, even if this administration will not say it in plain language.  Watch the video below, in which Obama announces the formation of these controversial CDC swat teams to round up “suspected” Ebola victims. Watch how the President measures his every word.  This is a man who knows where this crisis is headed, he just does not want you to know, at least not quite yet, that medical martial law has been declared and is upon us.

ANOTHER:

Source: Zero Hedge

President Obama may have been busy golfing this weekend, and his brand new Ebola Czar may have had more pressing matters to attend than the White House's Saturday evening meeting on the US "response to domestic Ebola cases" (because clearly the Ebola Czar is superfluous at such Ebola-related events), but that doesn't mean that the administration will once again be caught with its pants down the next time an Ebola index patient is unveiled on US soil. Nope.
In taking a page right out of America's response to the Ebola pandemic in... West Africa, where the US has dispatched several thousands troops to do, something, unclear what, earlier today, it was revealed that the U.S. military is forming a 30-person "quick-strike team", which according to CNN is "equipped to provide direct treatment to Ebola patients inside the United States, a Defense Department official told CNN's Barbara Starr on Sunday."
From CNN:
Quote :
The team will be under orders to deploy within 72 hours at any time over the next month, the official said.  The Department of Health and Human Services requested the military team, and the Pentagon has given verbal approval, the official said.
The team will include five doctors, 20 nurses and five trainers, Pentagon press secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said in a statement.
The Pentagon has been working to determine what assistance it could offer the civilian health care sector following a White House meeting last week during which President Barack Obama said he wanted a more aggressive response, according to two Defense officials.
Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered chief of the Northern Command, Gen. Chuck Jacoby, "to prepare and train a 30-person expeditionary medical support team that could, if required, provide short-notice assistance to civilian medical professionals in the United States," Kirby said.
Jacoby is already working with the military on the joint team, Kirby said, and once formed, it will head to Fort Sam Houston in Texas for up to seven days of training in infection control and personal protective equipment. The training, provided by the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, will begin "within the next week or so," Kirby said.
The team will remain in "prepare-to-deploy" status for 30 days, he said. It will be able to respond anywhere in the U.S. if "deemed prudent by our public health professionals," he said.
To summarize: the Pentagon, as in the US army, will provide direct treatment to Ebola patients.
So just how exactly is the US army's crack 30-person "SWAT" team which has a whopping 5 doctors, more competent to deal to deal with what is, at last check, a medical situation than, say, America's medical professionals? Or is, in the parlance of our times, where an "Iraq military advisor" really means crack commando fighting Syrian troops on the ground on behalf of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, "direct treatment" merely a euphemism for something far less enjoyable?
For the partial answer to some of these questions, please read "Public Health Emergency Declared In Connecticut Over Ebola: Civil Rights Suspended Indefinitely, and also "Obama Mobilizes National Guard, Army Reserves To Fight Ebola" - they serve as a good starting point for where all of this is ultimately headed.

Did anyone read the Public Health Emergency Connecticut article? Open borders, open flights, declaring an emergency when you allegedly don't have any ebola cases??? Maybe they're just being proactive because its a forgone conclusion there'll be many more cases.

150 or so Liberians daily, they're actively fleeing the virus now. Like I said before, I think they're embracing it for reasons of treachery but its going to get out of their control (eventually) and Pharoah will have his plague.

WHO: Nigeria is free of Ebola but must remain vigilant for new cases
The World Health Organisation declared on Monday that Nigeria is free of Ebola, a rare victory in the months-long battle against the disease.

The World Health Organisation declared on Monday that Nigeria is free of Ebola, a rare victory in the months-long battle against the disease.

Nigeria’s containment of Ebola is a “spectacular success story”, WHO country director Rui Gama Vaz told a news conference in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja. Nigeria reported 20 cases of Ebola, including eight deaths. One of those who died was an airline passenger who brought Ebola to Nigeria and died soon after.

The WHO announcement came after 42 days had passed since the last case in Nigeria tested negative – 42 days is twice the disease’s maximum incubation period.

“The outbreak in Nigeria has been contained,” Vaz said. “But we must be clear that we only won a battle. The war will only end when west Africa is also declared free of Ebola.”

WHO said Nigeria had traced nearly all of the contacts of the Ebola patients in the country, all of whom were linked to the country’s first patient, a Liberian man who arrived with symptoms in Lagos and later died.

For an outbreak to be declared officially over, WHO convenes a committee on surveillance, epidemiology and lab testing to determine that all conditions have been met.

Vaz warned that Nigeria’s geographical position and its extensive borders makes the country, Africa’s most populous, vulnerable to additional imported cases of Ebola.

“Therefore there is the need to continue to work together with states to ensure adequate preparedness to rapidly respond, in case of any potential re-importation,” he said.

The disease continues to spread rapidly in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea and has claimed more than 4,500 lives.

"Four passengers who flew into Dulles International Airport recently were taken to a local hospital after enhanced airport screening alarmed the Centers for Disease Control, the Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday.

The agency and the CDC provided no details on the hospital visits or whether the passengers were admitted to the hospital. Spokespeople for the two Northern Virginia hospitals closest to the airport said they did not receive the passengers.

“We have no patients,” said Reston Hospital Center nursing supervisor Kim Wilfred.

“I’m not aware of anything like that, and I would be aware,” said Tony Raker at Inova Fairfax Hospital.

The CDC and DHS could not explain the discrepancy."

I've read articles that this has happened at EACH of the 5 entry points. The hospitals are either denying they have the patients or referring to the CDC. They've fast tracked visas for the w. Africans so they can immigrate more easily. The test for ebola will likelycome back NEGATIVE until the patient has a certain viral load in his/her bloodstream.

Importantly, as mentioned above, the deceased Mr. Duncan's test came back NEGATIVE TWICE per one of the nurses who treated him.

There is an election upcoming, the facts will be few and far between.

"NIH Mated Live Ebola With The Common Cold" - Bio Weapons Expert

By Susan Duclos

In the video below, David Knight starts with the question of how did the Ebola virus, supposedly transmitted by animals, travel thousands of miles with no outbreaks in between, to cause the deadliest outbreak in history, in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia?

Bio weapons expert Dr. Francis Boyle, who wrote the 1989 Biological Weapons and Anti-Terrorism Act, joins Knight to answer that question and at the 1:42 minute mark, the most terrifying statement comes out of Mr. Boyle when he says "The National Institutes Of Health mated live Ebola with the virus for the common cold."

This is information that goes unreported in the mainstream media, as evidenced by a NYT report that Knight brings up in the interview, titled "White House to Cut Funding for Risky Biological Study," where the following claim is made:

"The moratorium is only on research on influenza virus and the coronaviruses that cause SARS and MERS. It made no mention of Ebola or any related filovirus. Ebola is already extremely lethal, but it is not easily transmittable.

No scientist has publicly announced an attempt to make Ebola as easy to transmit with a sneeze as flu is. Given the current panic around Ebola, and congressional anger at federal health agencies, it is unlikely that federal funding for such a project would be given out."

Notice the word semantics in the NYT article, saying that no scientist has publicly announced that type of dangerous research, yet as Dr. Boyle points out in the video below, not only has such research been conducted, but the very location of US research labs in the hottest Ebola zones of the 2014 outbreak which has killed over 4,500 people, with the World Health Organization (WHO) saying that there is likely three times that amount in actual numbers, is a smoking gun that suggests, wheteher on purpose or by accident, the Ebola virus being seen today, a strain never seen before, could be man-made.

Dr. Boyle offers insights and information on other important pieces of the puzzle, including the documented cases of "lab accidents" that have occurred in the past with the Ebola virus and more on the research labs in west Africa, making for short, fascinating, and very informative interview.

New York, New Jersey Set Up Mandatory Quarantine Requirement Amid Ebola Threat

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — In the wake of the first confirmed Ebola virus case in New York City, the states of New York and New Jersey have set up a new screening system that goes above and beyond the guidelines already set up by federal officials.
The guidelines have already been used for a traveler returning from West Africa who developed a fever Friday night.
And as CBS 2’s Alice Gainer reported, no other states have yet set up increased screening procedures for Ebola.
“We believe it’s appropriate to increase the current screening procedures from people coming from affected countries from the current (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention screening procedures),” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Friday afternoon. “We believe it within the State of New York and the State of New Jersey’s legal rights.”

Under the new rules, state officials will establish a risk level by considering the countries that people have visited and their level of possible exposure to Ebola.
EXTRA: More On Ebola From The CDC
The patients with the highest level of possible exposure will be automatically quarantined for 21 days at a government-regulated facility. As WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported, those patients include anyone having direct contact with a person infected with Ebola while in Liberia, Guinea, or Sierra Leone.
Those with a lower risk will be monitored for temperature and symptoms, Cuomo explained.
The New York and New Jersey health departments will determine their own specific procedures for hospitalization and quarantine, and will provide a daily recap to state officials on the status of screening, New York State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said at the news conference.
The new procedures already have been put into use at Newark Liberty International Airport.

CDC Says Ebola Droplets Can Only Travel 3 Feet … But MIT Research Shows Sneezes Can Travel Up to 20 Feet

Washington’s Blog
October 28, 2014
This week, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) admitted that Ebola can travel through the air in aerosols, but claims that it can never go more than 3 feet.
Let’s check their math …
CDC (like the World Health Organization) admits that Ebola can be spread through sneezing or coughing.
But the CDC itself admits that flu droplets can travel 6 feet.
Mythbusters demonstrated that sneezes can nail people some 17 feet away:
But engineers at MIT show that sneezes can actually travel up to 200 times farther than previously thought … up to 20 feet.
How?
Gas clouds:
Quote :
“[The study] changes our current ideas of how far germs can spread in aerosols such as coughs or sneezes,” Mary B. Farone, Ph.D., associate professor of biology at Middle Tennessee State University, told weather.com. “We used to think if we could see the spray, that was the limit of the dissemination, but this study shows that tiny particles, such as bacteria and viruses, can be spread much further on gas clouds.”
MIT explains:
Quote :
A novel study by MIT researchers shows that coughs and sneezes have associated gas clouds that keep their potentially infectious droplets aloft over much greater distances than previously realized.“When you cough or sneeze, you see the droplets, or feel them if someone sneezes on you,” says John Bush, a professor of applied mathematics at MIT, and co-author of a new paper on the subject. “But you don’t see the cloud, the invisible gas phase. The influence of this gas cloud is to extend the range of the individual droplets, particularly the small ones.”
Indeed, the study finds, the smaller droplets that emerge in a cough or sneeze may travel five to 200 times further than they would if those droplets simply moved as groups of unconnected particles — which is what previous estimates had assumed. The tendency of these droplets to stay airborne, resuspended by gas clouds, means that ventilation systems may be more prone to transmitting potentially infectious particles than had been suspected.
***
The researchers used high-speed imaging of coughs and sneezes, as well as laboratory simulations and mathematical modeling, to produce a new analysis of coughs and sneezes from a fluid-mechanics perspective. Their conclusions upend some prior thinking on the subject.
***
The study finds that droplets 100 micrometers — or millionths of a meter — in diameter travel five times farther than previously estimated, while droplets 10 micrometers in diameter travel 200 times farther. Droplets less than 50 micrometers in size can frequently remain airborne long enough to reach ceiling ventilation units.
A cough or sneeze is a “multiphase turbulent buoyant cloud,” as the researchers term it in the paper, because the cloud mixes with surrounding air before its payload of liquid droplets falls out, evaporates into solid residues, or both.
The study notes:
Quote :
Our key findings are as follows. The turbulent multiphase cloud plays a critical role in extending the range of the majority of pathogen-bearing drops that accompany human coughs and sneezes. Smaller droplets (less than 50 µm diameter) can remain suspended in the cloud long enough for the cough to reach heights where ventilation systems can be contaminated (4–6 m).
6 meters equals 19.685 feet.
While Slate may have gotten the numbers wrong, they made an entertaining video about the MIT study:

Obama assails Ebola quarantines, saying they are based on fear, not facts

President Obama on Tuesday forcefully rejected the idea of a quarantine for medical workers returning from Ebola-affected countries, arguing that such an approach would undermine the broader effort to eliminate the epidemic . Politicians in the United States, including the president, have come under increasing pressure to curtail the movements of medical personnel returning from

Some May Carry Ebola Virus Without Having the SymptomsBy LAWRENCE K. ALTMAN

he Ebola virus, which has caused deaths from high fever and bleeding in African outbreaks, can also infect without producing illness, according to a new finding by African and European scientists.

The possibility of asymptomatic infection was only suggested in earlier studies, they said in last week's issue of The Lancet, a medical journal published in London. Now they said they had documented such infections for the first time.

more of the same, we're all being lied to. Already a generally accepted fact on this forum.

Doctors: Potential Ebola Cases Still ‘Covered Up By CDC’

CDC reportedly ‘disappearing’ patients

Ebola continues to spread wildly in Sierra Leone as experts project that virtually all major cities in the United States will face imported cases of Ebola amid the failed response of the CDC. The nightly news says the story on the disease is ‘closed,’ but medical doctors around the country happen to disagree — and overwhelmingly so. In fact, medical professionals are now speaking out privately and publicly about the ‘cover up’ of potential Ebola cases that they say may end up with their careers on the line.
It was back in October when I shared a story regarding some extremely powerful information that one of my medical doctors contacts stationed in Dallas had shared with me. The CDC, this individual said, was coming into hospitals and visiting patients who were reported to have ‘signs of malaria’. What’s much more disturbing, however, is that the CDC was reportedly ‘disappearing’ these patients — even going as far as to remove their actual records from the hospital database.
Surely a serious claim, and one that I had shared with the audience hoping that we could simply find an alternative answer to these disappearances. At least one that did not revolve around the cover up of a serious Ebola outbreak within our borders. It was hard to ignore, though, with even former Border Patrol agents speaking out over sightings of the CDC coming in and ‘snatching up’ individuals with flu-like symptoms.
What happened next, however, solidified the message of my Dallas contact in a very real way.
It was then, after sharing this story on air, that the brave Dr. James Lawrenzi called into the program and said that he had also witnessed similar circumstances: even going as far as to mention other key elements that I had not yet mentioned on air while conveying my report. In his experience and statement, Dr. Lawrenzi discussed how medical professionals from the CDC were in fact looking at these cases of ‘malaria’ in a very strange way. Especially when these ‘malaria’ cases exhibited symptoms that typically coincide with an Ebola infection.
Lawrenzi independently verified additional claims by doctors who we have personally spoken to regarding the state of unpreparedness within these institutions to handle even a single case of Ebola, the rapidly declining moral of medical staff who continually threaten to quit their jobs in the event of an Ebola patient being taken under care of the hospital, and the complete lack of concern from the CDC when it comes to medical doctors relaying these concerns to the agency.
You can see the video of Dr. Lawrenzi’s statements for yourself below:

But Dr. Lawrenzi’s statements, nor the statements of other medical doctors who have reached out conveying the same message and agreeing with my overall assessment, are not the focal point of this latest news. In the latest development on the Ebola case, doctors are now ‘freaking out’ over how families, lawyers, and eventually the public are going to respond to the ‘disappeared cases.’
Doctors ‘Freaking Out’ Over ‘Continued Ebola Cover Up’
The latest news from the medical doctors who have been in the thick of what they say are the disappearance of potential Ebola cases is that these medical professionals believe that they may in fact be the ones taking the heat for the CDC’s alleged actions. Specifically, we’re talking about what happens when families and investigative journalists really start looking into this in a big way.
Just speaking with one of the lead doctors in the Dallas area, they were concerned about ‘relatives going around talking about how their family members had died of Ebola’ — something that has reportedly already been ‘causing problems.’ The mainstream media, of course, can be trusted to stay completely silent about this entire timeline. Let’s not forget the quote which was published (and later retracted) on Forbes by an adjunct professor at Duke University Medical Center:
Quote :
“The Associated Press and other press outlets have agreed not to report on suspected cases of Ebola in the United States until a positive viral RNA test is completed.”
And remember, it’s not hard to believe that the federal government would quell public fear over the Ebola outbreak in the United States by silently quarantining and disappearing potential patients. It’s, in fact, extremely easy to grasp. The government would love nothing more than to buy enough time to prepare adequate pandemic response (such as the acquisition of 250,000 hazmat suits sent directly to Dallas).
The reality is that doctors, other medical experts, and even former senior level Border Patrol agents have spoken out over the apparent cover up of potential Ebola victims within the US — with some sharing their story with millions. Many will not speak publicly about what they have seen for fear of repercussion from not only their partners and employers, but from the public and the federal government. These reports are serious, and they have serious and troubling meaning for this nation if they are, in fact, centered around an Ebola cover up campaign aimed at halting the spread of fear throughout the general public.

Looks like this Ebola outbreak, and hence this thread, have both run out of steam. I'm un-pinning it. Another can be started if the disease flairs again.
