I have a new article posted on the Image of the Beast blog: Could Robots Take Over in the Next Five Years? Scientists Think So
Here's an excerpt:
Quote :
Robots appear to be our future, whether we like it or not. The clip above is from a new film, “Robot and Frank” which explores some of the possible problems which can arise from being so intimately involved with them, though it does so in a very humorous fashion. Robots are beginning to learn in the same way as humans, to mimic emotional states, and in every way they’re becoming as human as we can make them.
But not all of the uses for which they’re being developed are as funny. Both Russia and China are developing autonomous robotic weapons, meaning they can function without human controls, and this has the Pentagon very worried. Then there’s Elon Musk’s new project, designed to make certain that AI (artificially intelligent) robots can’t turn on us and destroy us. In the same way the Pentagon is nervous about autonomous robotic armies, Musk has concerns about the large robotic army that Google is amassing, and he wonders why it would be necessary. The answer to that ultimately, is spiritual. We believe that this will be a large component of what ultimately becomes “the Image of the Beast.” That’s why it’s proceeding at such an accelerated rate, and why more people are coming to understand the evil inherent in these projects.
If you read or watch nothing else from this post, be sure to view the video embedded below, several times if necessary, in order to process all of the information given in it. “The Alberino Analysis – Super-Soldiers: The New Arms Race” will give you a good understanding of what we’ve been trying to convey over the last year, in terms of the latest technology and where it’s all heading. Robots aren’t the only means the Pentagon is using to create these super-soldiers. They’re also using genetic modification of ordinary men to create killing “monsters” with super-human capabilities.
Could we be on the verge of actually creating “The Terminator?” Yes, absolutely. What seemed like incredible science fiction in the early 1980’s when the first of that film series was released, now is almost upon us. That’s part of what has military leaders and certain scientific elite like Musk so concerned. AI has been developed, robots are being weaponized, and as with everything military, once the race begins, there’s no choice but to jump full speed into staying ahead of the pack in terms of development, for defense purposes if nothing else. Escalation will occur; it must, and that’s a frightening prospect. Skynet, the defense system which was the basis for the “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” film, is becoming our reality.
Yet the real problem isn’t the technology, in one sense. The problem is that as we try to make them more human and teach them to think on their own, what we’re imparting to them is our own sinful nature. “Robot and Frank” is a testament to that, and although it makes us laugh, it isn’t that far from what really will happen. Not because machines necessarily are evil, but because without God, the heart of man always will find a way to corrupt whatever comes his way.
Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
