| Cyan as in cold Rare hail storm hits Sardinia, Italy, amid Europe’s heatwave By Strange Sounds - Aug 6, 2018 A sudden and powerful ice blast covered Sardinia, an Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea, in a 30cm-deep ‘snow blanket’ after the temperatures suddenly plunged from 35C to 12C despite a record-breaking heatwave across the continent on August 2, 2018. Temperatures plummeted to just 12C, while a 30cm-deep blanket of hailstones caused havoc on the busy roads. Witnesses described a “snow blanket” on the roads, just minutes after a sweltering 35C heatwave.Extreme and rare hailstorm hits Sardinia amid heatwave in Europe. The violent hailstorm was caught on camera by drivers on the Strada 131 in Campeda, Sardinia, prompting dozens of requests to emergency services. The sudden hailstorm caused transport chaos for some motorists, including an accident between two cars.https://youtu.be/X0sPBpicgS0The cold temperature blast was also felt in nearby towns, including Mamoiada, Sorgono and Tonara. Flash flooding struck the nearby region of Nuorese, with emegency services called out to empty water from flooded basements.MORE@LINK |

| Well lucky them! Enjoy the refreshing moment Sardinia. I would kill for a hail storm right about now. My HVAC has been running every day for the past two weeks or so. This month my electric bill is gonna be a killer. Once I enter tier two (passed that weeks ago) rates go up to 44 cents per kilowatt hour. OUCH! Thank you commie-fornia for some of the highest rates in the nation. On a much more serious front - we are currently in the bottom of a solar minimum. I stand by my firm belief that the weather is being manipulated. Now ask yourself, 'self, who would want to do that'? And WHY? !! FOXTROT JULIET BRAVO !! | |

You have no idea how hard I've been researching that very thing, Dave. This summers electricity bills may just be the incentive I need to bite the bullet. Costs have been coming down on panels and battery tech has drastically improved over the past few years. Some newer panels are rated at ~400+ watt/hour now. That's a big advancement. I get a lot of sun here too. San Diego is a coastal dessert. !! FOXTROT JULIET BRAVO !!

| researcher, I use 3 100w Renogy panels running to a solar storage battery for all 12v items for camping, also have 3000w inverter for those with the battery, a 1500w and a 100w ones depending on what I want to run from either the battery or the ATV. I use LED lighting string for lighting during camp trips and string 5 daisy chained usb connected over table. Fan. Charge all devices and either AAA, AA batteries in chargers for items that take no charger. The small battery chargers also work with foldable solar panel for backpacks. Head lamps, world band radio, gps, scanner and 10" tablet, two items worth of charging at one time on that. Check out the bucket coolers they work and are relatively simple to make. Keep cool! these are light weight and panel is thin supported in aluminum frame. |

| I use some solar for smaller thing too, but I'm not looking at full 12 volt systems. I'm looking at whole house systems. HVAC alone is on a 220 volt 30Amp circuit. Refrigerator, chest freezer, and 24 hour never shut down computer uses the rest. Small beans those but AC is the hog. 12-13 SEER R22 unit installed 1991. Hi efficiency for its day. Newer units now-a-days are total crapola.
Big Ass 220V inverter, battery bank plus parallel super capacitor bank for air conditioning high start up amps surge current. That's what I'm looking at. Can sell power back spring. fall, winter. I just gotta get the X years rate of investment return math vs system $$$ down to manageable. !! FOXTROT JULIET BRAVO !!

| If ya have yard space like I do it is great... I almost put 25k into panels to power the big house 100% plus the Shop. That would have powered the entire house with everything on during winter plus the shop. (extra panels for cloudy days)
Utilities keep going up but 1 big solar investment can stop.
If I add two batteries to current set up I can run full size refer and more. My system is mostly for outdoor use, 3 panels fit very well in the bottom of my ATV Trailer. Goes where I do. Have thought about getting a electric water heater for cold weather showers. Right now it is sun or outfitter stove with tank. So basically I have two outdoor systems, one for each off road ATV trailer, one @45w and one @300 (can go to 400). Both the little trailers have battery mount / gas can mount depending on what I choose to do for the trips.
Been looking again today at wind but want a good verticle model. 400w, or better. |
