| Physicists Continue to Undermine Materialism Published about 20 hours ago by Cris Putnam New developments in physics add credence to the idea that the universe is fundamentally immaterial. Matter may be a persistent illusion. - Quote :
- Nature, at the deepest level, may not differentiate between scales. With scale symmetry, physicists start with a basic equation that sets forth a massless collection of particles, each a unique confluence of characteristics such as whether it is matter or antimatter and has positive or negative electric charge. As these particles attract and repel one another and the effects of their interactions cascade like dominoes through the calculations, scale symmetry “breaks,” and masses and lengths spontaneously arise.
http://www.wired.com/2014/08/multiverse/ In The Supernatural Worldview I explain metaphysical idealism and make a distinction between subjective and objective idealism. If mind is fundamental to matter (as a supernatural worldview entails), then one should expect something like Berkeley’s objective idealism to be true. That being the case, we can predict that particle physics will continue to undermine the ontology of matter.http://www.supernaturalworldview.com/2014/09/19/physicists-continue-to-undermine-materialism/ |
